I've done different PvP in MMORPGs.  I liked Guild Wars (but hated the PvE).  I had fun in CoH/V PvP (though there wasn't much point) and I had some good fights in Alterac and Arathi Basin but also some horrible memories of Warsong Gulch (which still needs a freaking timer  - get a clue Blizzard!)  I've tried Tanks in all those games, but never liked them.

But WAR is the first game where I find myself truly enjoying playing a Tank.   There is something incredibly fun about standing on a bridge or choke point and holding off an entire team of opponents.  You and one other Tank or DPS shoulder to shoulder against superior numbers or sometimes even just you alone holding back the enemy is great.   It's something I've only experienced in WAR and I have to thank Mythic for finally making a Tank class that I really enjoy.

Of course, those moments are only possible when you have some really good healers at your Tank's back.    Without them, a Tank is just a road bump.  But when you get a good group together (and I've had good PUGs in this game), it really is something that makes me glad I decided to give WAR Tanks a try.

Edit - forgot to mention I'm playing a Chosen :)

Good for you, a lot of players are still hung up on the wow style solo killing spree.

When you actually learn what your class excels in in RvR it is quite fun.

Now if i could just get the other bright wizards to stop clustering toghether in a " hey come kill us" fashion...that would be great.

Yes, I really was amazed at how well my Tank was able to actually *protect* healers and squishy casters.

Instead of a melee DPS just running through me to get a caster,  I can get in the DPSers way and hinder them while a smart caster will use me as an obstacle to allow us both to take down the DPS.   Protecting healers may not be fun for everyone, but I like it as much as holding choke points.

This is really a game where understanding what your class was designed to do really makes the gameplay enjoyable.

It will be very interesting to see what will happen once the guilds get their acts together and start to figure out group tactics like Tank frontline  formations and such!

As a range damage dealer if the tank stays up right for more than a few heavy hitting spells, I tick them off my list for targets as that usually means they've got a decent healer or 2 backing them up, and no matter what I throw at them they're not going down :).

Although if I get in a good group that calls targets then we'll happily take out Tanks, but definitly requires team work.

I absolutely agree with the solo killing spree comment.  Oh and to the OP,  tanking rocks!  Chosen ftw!

To be frank they are just hotdogs, their girls are relish, and they need to ketchup on their pimpin.

Tanks are no joke in WAR.  Extreme survivability, ok DPS, and the ability to *physically block* paths is soooooo cool.  Makes me want to roll a tank...

Heck yeah   The only thing better than being a Tank in WAR is being the most bad-*** looking one!

I had the greatest fight of my gaming life last night in WAR and that is what sold me. I play an Ironbreaker and  was in the dwarf RVR, can't remember which one but it's the one where you have an ammunition room. I was at the center of the map at the flag with 3 Black Orcs on all sides of me with 4 Squig Herders Peppering me with Arrows.

I was all alone

Except for the best Damn Healer I have played with in a long time. I killed all 3 Black Orcs one by one then ran up the ramp and killed 3 of the Squig Herders and stood on the ledge facing the open center of the Map and Roared right when the Game ended. Which we won.  I had so much Adrenaline going I couldn't sit in my chair.

This game for me at least is so amazing because every fight is so different than the last one. I felt in Wow that I always had the same situation going, no matter what I did. I love the fact that you can physically block someone from getting by you. That is awesome! No if I could only convince the squishies to run towards me when they're getting hit instead of away then maybe I can protect them. LOL
