Warhammer because it looks to me AOC is shutting down unless they get bailed out by there goverment.

AOC has a better combat system. better raids, the game visually looks more appealing and a more mature community. There are still flaws in AOC but they are actually fixing them. I cancelled WAR, resubbed back to AOC and haven't been disappointed thus far. |

LOTRO is by far a better MMO than both.

this thread will go down in flames... that being said. AoC has better graphics, and a different combat system, but I can't say the community is any more mature other then what their retail box tries to sell you. Its been out longer and has had more time for them to work on it in a production environment. Funcom, lied and cheated its customers out of much of the content too... which is....... bad WAR is faster paced, has 10 times more content, and has unique classing and questing. Its still early and hasn't been out half as long as AoC but already Mythic has proven to go above and beyond anything Funcom could ever muster. Its still got some fixes that need to be implemented, but with the constant patches that so far.. have not made the game worse I think that speaks volumes for the future of this game. Although it comes down to personal opinion --- Warhammer wins for me hands down. |

WAR>AOC owned/played both AOC has better graphics, I wont say that it has a better combat system. WAR has better gameplay and pvp imo. |

I don't agree; I have a lifetime sub to LotRO, I like it a lot, but I'm playing WAR. LotRO is way better in the graphics department - at least in the environments (the characters in LotRO are nowhere near as detailed as WAR's, the armour tends to looked sprayed on, especially at the lower levels) - WAR sits somewhere between WoW & LotRO, graphically. ...but LotRO can feel cold; I know it needs to stick to the Lore but it needs a humour injection, it just doesn't feel as much 'fun' to me. I was never even tempted to Conan. |

I don't think you can say one of these games is the best. I just think it's all about what you like best. The only objectif thing you can say about these games are graphics, sound, content,... But at the end it's still the gamer who makes the decision. |

I played both and i choose WAR. One of he best MMO launch ever. And i am sure you must have heard about AOC launch? given the time WAR will fix whatever little issues it has and will only get better with time. |

played both as well, and while I enjoyed the first 40 levels of AoC, the rest of the game was missing so much content that it quickly went to my list of mmo's that failed. WAR is delivering on all fronts for me, and the way they are improving the game so quickly and listening to the player base is a breath of fresh air. So, for me, WAR is the better game. Looking Forward to:Final Fantasy 14!!! STO and STOR and the Wheel of Time. Playing: WoW,FFXI,LOTRO,EQ2,WAR,AoC(off and on) |

I guess it all comes down to your tastes. I've played/owned both, and for me PERSONALLY I enjoy WAR more. Tortage in AoC was amazing, and engrossing, but post Tortage (or past lvl 20) it kinda fizzled out. Though the graphics in conan are stellar, and the combat was new and unique it all ended up not being enough to keep me around. WAR's only been out a month though so we'll see. Either way I'd say to try either one out and make your own decision. The sleeper awakes...and rides his dirtbike to the mall. |

MMORPG Character Monuments ...When its time for your character to take a well deserved rest... |
I wrote an article comparing both AoC and WAR I wrote a review of AoC And (because I had sooo much fun) I wrote a review of WAR In the end they are both good games. I currently give the advantage to WAR because of its smoother launch and larger player base. HOwever Over time I expect AoC to dig itself out of its problems and become a solid MMO |

As of right now I like WAR. I really wanted AOC to do great but every patch was a nerf and not many fixes. I really hope they fix what they broke and make the changes promissed. The only hard thing is my wife LOVED AOC and she does not seem too interested in WAR. But then again she does not really pvp so WAR is probably not her cup O tea. I'd love to check AOC out in a few months and see how it is. I really enjoyed the game but all my friends quit and I followed them to WAR. |

Do yourself a favor and stay away from both. MMO's are dead and there is really nothing worth playing atm and I don't see anything in the near future either.... It's a simple world for complicated people! Human beings, who are almost unique in having the ability to learn from the experience of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so. |

I would not recommend either one.Save your money. |

Like people have said above me, its really up to you. Ive played AoC and WAR and i prefer WAR because of the few little unique things that I like. But its really up to you. |

WAR has very weak PvE and AoC has serious performance issues and a slightly hollow feel. I wouldn't bother with either. -- |

LOTRO has a good implementation but it lacks a good levelling path - trying to figure out where the hell you're suppose to be levelling is a nightmare. BUT I would definitely recommend LOTRO over the other 2 games. -- |

LotRO forever!!!! |

I always said I didn't liked AoC game design, but WAR is even worse. |

I AM THE BLACK WIZARDS |
I am kind of suprised so many people like WaR so much. That being said he are my thoughts: AoC- Great graphics, better combat system then WAR by miles, cooler setting (imo), better pvp (FFA). Also had terrible bugs, missing content and serious lag and balance issues, leveling became a serious chore after level 50 and I eventually stopped careing and cancelled my sub. In alot of ways it felt like wow with better graphics and cooler combat, but in other ways it had some great things going for it. AoC is an example of a game that tried to step of the box, but got scared to fully jump out. There is also a serious issue of content promised that has not been spoke about since pre-launch, like pvp forts. AoC may be a very good themepark mmo in a year or so. War- Mediocre graphics that look alot like wow, worst character creation I have ever seen, so bad that almost every one looks identical. Extremely boring quests, but you can level off pvp which is cool. The combat system is exactly like every mmo that came before it, and the game is ultra linear. I got to level 18 and gave up and have not played since. Maybe it's just me but I seriously hated this game, there world had billions of npc's all of whom look exactly like players, but players are so spread out over the game world that there are no hubs and you don't see many people outside of scenarios and RVR areas.. The game just lacks a sense of being in a real living world, no other mmo that I have played has felt so much like walking thru a theme park, I know it's not a sandbox game, but this game never really made me feel like I had a choice about what I did in the game. Game brought nothing new to the industry, it's just a well made piece of kitch gaming, and honestly it saddens me that mmo gamers are putting up with this shit. /rantover If I had to pick one, I would play AoC, but because I am a free man, I play EVE and AO instead |

Well I'm playing both at the moment and I would have to give a slight edge to AoC. The two are vastly different in what they offer. I like AoC for it's PVE, I love the game world, the artistry, the music, the story telling, the role-play and of course the awesome combat. WAR is very good as well but there is something about it doesn't encourage you to just linger in the gameworld, to soak in the experience. The PQs, RVR and Scenarios are all a lot of fun, but it comes up short on the PVE and RP side. In AoC I can lose myself in the gameworld, in WAR that is never the case. |

Neither is very good in my personal opinion. They suffer from the same ailment most new mmo's do these days. Extremely small LINEAR gaming world with set pathing for travel. I need a giant world with actual exploration. I have since gone back to Vanguard and am extremely pleased at what has been done there as far as game performance goes. I was there at the beginning so I know the nightmare that it used to be. It's honestly a completely different game now. When I want to play a true mmo, I play Vanguard. When I want to play a glorified single player rpg, I grab AoC. Good luck in your quest for your own gratifying mmo. Different strokes for different folks.
