A totally open sandbox game?  Can this be true?  UO (the old UO not the "EA UO") was the last game to even attempt something like thins; and i LOVED it.

I remeber reading about how in the original designes for UO they talked about how the world would by dynamic.  What they meant by this (as an example) is that if players killed a lot of small game wolves may have to move close to town in search of food, if this trend repeated dragons may eventually move in.  Sounds hard as hell to program but would be interesting if they pull it off!

I've been doing some research, and yes it seems to be true. PvP anywhere, a Risk Vs Reward system, change your characters "class" at any time in the game with a skill-based level system, full loot, city building....All the marks of a sandbox.

Add the FPS combat and the revolutionary ship combat and you have one kickass game.

That dynamic system sounds pretty revolutionary as well.

What I think marks a sandbox game is if the economics of the game will be player based or not. Like EVE online etc, hopefully it will.

Just to stir the pot a little.... EvE, The Sims, SimCity, Unreal Tournament, RuneScape, Battlefield, Age of Empires, Mercenaries, Second Life, Pong.... the list goes on.

Sandbox is not new. FPS (an entire genre) is not new. Risk vs. reward system is not new. Open economy is not new. Full loot is not new. Open classes is not new. City building is not new.

When I think sandbox MMORPG, I think a good mix of economics, crafting, selection of trade skills, selection of resource gathering, POH's, combat, etc. The only thing we know about is combat.

Lets face it, MMOs today are turning into single player console games with a chat box included.

We know what weve been TOLD, but we dont have any solid PROOF. Two completely different things.

Its the difference between mummy telling you santa claus is real, and seein the fat man slide down your chimney.

this will be everything you mentioned and more my friend. something no game has come close to for nearly a decade.

After the caged monkey was released in WAR hype videos, people are alot more tentative in believing that features will actually be implemented.

true but combining all these in one game is new... I mean you dont do alot of peekayin and full looting in The Sims...

No targetting manual aim with friendly fire - which other mmorpg has it?

In which other mmorpg can you as a newb go on adventures with your friend who played the game 2 years, and actually be useful?

there are many really innovative things in this game... there is no denying it.
