I'm having a problem when I go to the Inevitable City where NPCs and PCs lose thier detailed textures. Some of them just look like people shaped blobs.
Any advice on this, it's pretty annoying.
I don't know if it's my hardware or an issue with the game. |

I remember my old graphics card dying on me and I got all sorts of tearing and this isn't like that although I was concerned my system might be overheating.
What it looks like is that the graphics aren't loading properly though. I've seen this in many games where as you get closer to something the textures render on the model, but with this the textures just never seem to load.
I'm not technical, sorry for my poor description. (maybe I'll post a screenie later if I'm not being understood). |

I saw it too in some other NPCs at IC. Report it.

That is happening because the texture cache is probably set to minimum and when in the city it swaps textures around quite alot as this is an expensive process it takes some time. Try setting your texture cache all the way up or even half way it should solve the problem.

ya I started getting this too a couple days ago. Moving the cache slider midway helps. If I put it to full I lose FPS. Not sure why this even started. Been playing/testing the game since January and never had this problem before. running an 8800GTS 512 and XP prof. sp3 |

Yeah, this just began recently. The only problem with the texture cache option is that if I turn it on at all, my FPS goes down and play gets really choppy. The thing is that in the open beta, I had no problems with textures or framerates, everything was smooth as silk at max settings. A number of changes were made right at the end of open beta and performance took a nosedive. Well, I'd bet that you'd find other people that got a performance boost from those changes, that's the say it works. Whenever graphics are changed, some machines will benefit and some will suffer for it.

It''s one thing to have a opinion, but enforcing one is unconstitutional. |

Well i have everything up on my Max on everything and i seem to have no problems. It only lags for some damn reason which pisses me off. Never had lag issues in a single game before this one only FPS ones. |

Go into the advanced graphics options and change the CPU cache from default to maximum. That solved this very same problem for me immediately. ==================== |

I sometimes get the 'Mr Blobby' issue as well after respawning, but it usually corrects itself after a while. I can't tell whether altering the CPU cache settings makes things better or worse, since I have the Nvidia 8800 GTS Card which allegedly has 'issues' with 'WAR'. The instructions above the cache say to set it to minimum if you experience lag but I have tried all possible settings, including the impossible ones by editing the user xml file as recommended by some people. Nothing seems to make any lasting difference though & I assume that my 'Mr Blobby' & 'Mr Laggy' issues are caused by a combination of factors, not just caching. I have tried lots of different recommendations, but once the temporary placebo effect has worn off, it is usually obvious that not much has changed. I still love the game though, easily the best thing I have played in ages. I am just keeping optimistic that Mythic will come up with a solution to the general lag & performance issues that seem to affect a significant amount of players for no real reason. If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"? |

I have the exact same problem, its mostly only in the Inevitable City and it started about four days ago. I only get it anyplace else when I switch reoslutions but it usually rights itself out. ------------------------------ 'Cry Havoc, and Let Loose the Dogs of WARRRRR!!!' |
