Seems like WoW is the best game, with Wraith of the Lich King comes out, this game will own all.

Well, best is a matter of opinion. By that definition is the Bible the best book, Elvis the best musician and the beetle the best car. If you want to compare use terms that actually can be measured like having most subs, highest textures or something like that.

But if anyone really thought WAR or AoC would kill wow they were/are insane. I can see Guildwars 2 chunk of a few mil players of Wow however but it is very possible that wow just get new ones or that those players will play both since GW2 wont cost monthly fees.

Oh, yeah lets back that up. First GW sold over 5,5 mils. AO and DAOC never been in that leauge. That's why I believe GW 2 is the only tough competitioner on the stage.

And Niche games can only occur because there are people who will hate what everyone else loves.  We get it, it's cool to hate untra-successful things.

WOW  10.9 Million paying subscribers,  Warhammer .5Million accounts created.

And this isn't McDonald's vs Steak debate since both games cost the same amount.  This is more like McDonald's vs Arbys.

WAR's low numbers actually doesn't come from the game itself, but from everyone buying into AoC's hype and being let down. That's the biggest factor of WAR's lower numbers at launch.

However, please only count NA and Euro subscribers for WoW, as the asian market's total payout is substantially less per person. WoW is not the largest subscribed MMO though, despite what many of you may think hahaha. It's just the largest INTERNATIONAL one.

I'm pretty sure most people who are sticking with WoW still have computers from 2002 and just don't want to give up their characters they've worked so hard to get items for, which make their characters because there is only one way to advance in the game once you hit max level and that is through items. What a horrible treadmill of linear and non-skill based advancement.

Whether it is the best or not is purely subjective, but there is no denying it is vastly succesful and its death will be at the hands of Blizzard alone, not any plucky pretender to the throne.

i wont agree  with Tekkaman  on this.i have the latest computer and my monitor is 29 inches and i play wow at full graphics .i played age of conan its a good game but there are too many bugs and secondly they dont have a reasonable customer service department.as with war i played it but didnot liked it because there is nothing new.they have taken out the pvr of the game which is enjoyable for many people .i like wow because it covers all aspects of the game .the customer service of wow is excellent .and they reward their customers with best graphics .i dont see any graphics differance in wow and war .i have played war on full graphics its not different than narthend continent graphics coming in wotlk.

Actually it is the game itself.

I tried WAR in beta for months, but I found it one of the most boring MMO ever released, and I played almost any Major MMO since UO.

The fact that people call it Borehammer make me think that I was right.
In fact this is the only major MMO I didn't buy (and I bought even AoC and Vanguard...........go figure)

PS: I can't wait for WoW expansion (I know, that s sad)

Waiting for: Archeage - Guild Wars 2 - Everquest Next - The Elder Scroll Online
Now Playing: World of Warcraft and Darkfall
Favorite MMO: Everquest - Everquest 2 (Pre EoF) - Ultima Online - Eve Online - Darkfall
Next Big Flop: DC Universe - The Agency

Some of the people who bought AOC were probably gunshy about buying Warhammer, but certainly not a significant number.  And if they didn't buy it at launch.. is there any compelling reason they will buy it now.  The forums are full of very 'mediocre' comments.

RvR is disappearing on most servers because of faction imbalances, and a ton of players are just saying "its ok, but nothing special".

If what you said is what happened, then you should be seeing 'growth' in server populations and growth in Box sales as those former AOC players are won over.  That is simply not happening.  Server population are stagnant and box sales are plummeting.  The game is not going to grow, the only question is how much will it drop on Oct 16th.

well there´s a little prob with ur tard theory, to get the best items ingame u have to kill the hardest bosses who therefore are only killed by the most skilled players... and i have a intel quadcore wich i bought to play AoC ye the wonderful graphics on the most boring shit i ever played..

None of these games you mention were ever intended to kill Warcraft.  Warcraft appeals to a mass audience but that doesn't make it the "best" game.  Again, subjective on so many levels.  WoW is a great game and there's nothing coming out in the near future that is going to dent that.  Imo, as far as sheer players I think the only game I've heard anything about that could actually make an impact would be a possible Star Wars MMO.  That franchise alone has the lore and world wide following that could make an impact.  And that's only if Bioware doesn't **** it up.

Also, the expansion isn't called "Wraith of of the lich king" but "Wrath of the lich king".

So when WAR releases in asian markets their numbers wont count either right.

what are you talking about?

to get T6 gear, and raid the new sunwell area...takes so much friggin time and effort you have no idea.

WoW is home to the hardest raiding in MMO's. Thats a fact for sure

Maybe old EQ raids could compare but thats about it

so how is progressing in gear non-skill based when it takes a lot of dedication to get down boss fights and win.

I play all ghame

Yeah, WoW is still a pretty good game overall, even after all these years and different releases, and will only get better with WotLK--but it's not "where it's at" for me anymore, sorry. I don't see myself ever feeling the need to re-sub, and I don't regret leaving the game. Good memories, but it was time to move on.

Waiting for Fallen Earth, World of Darkness, Old Republic, FFXIV

that is true of a lot of people.  The reason that WOW is such a phenomenom is that it continues to be in the top ten in sales.  For every person leaving, there is a person just starting out.  The last subscription figures given for WOW were 10.9M (5M in NA/EU) and that was only a few months ago.  The subscription rate is up like 20% since last year.  WOW probably doesn't have a retention rate much higher than the industry average, but it has box sales that have been in the top 10 since it launched.

Compare that to Warhammer which has already fallen out of the top 20 in sales in only it's third week, and both AOC and LotRO which aren't even in the top 100 of game sales.  WOW has 4 different products in the top 30 right now ( including preorders of Wraith, which is #1).

I wish more people could be as objective as this.

As for those who say only Blizzard can kill WoW?  The same thing was said about EQ back in the day.  The only thing stopping someone from putting out another mammoth MMO is themselves.  The market is ready as can be seen by the volume of people picking up new titles.  A million AOC and Warhammer?  People are ready for a new game.
