It's really getting on my nerves seeing tells from gold spammers every few minutes. At this rate, that single thing will cause me not to renew. As far as gameplay and all that it's pretty good. But, they need a better reporting and blocking system for gold spam - it's highly annoying. Especially since they said they were actively fighting gold spammers. Well I got new for them - they are loosing the fight.

There is nothing worse than gold farmers and gold spammers in an mmo. At least with wow there are mods out there that auto report and block them.

don't know if it is true (doubt it)but was told in game that they are banning gold spamming characters but not the account. would make no sense but as many gold spams as i get i almost believe it

edit also the gold spammers tell says thousands of gold in stock and the game is barely over a week old seems mythic would be able to find the farming characters pretty quick

no exageratoin - I literally get a whisper from gold spammers AT LEAST every 30 mins on Gorfang server.

I think they are doing it to keep subscribers to make sure they stay over the 500,000 mark, ha. Na, being serious I think they are just banning their characters to keep those subscribers for now.

With the way the chat system is AS IT IS, getting whispers from gold spammers and only seeing that as text is REALLY annoying. They do need to take care of them. I've had so many tells today by gold spammers telling me 10G 5.00 or w/e...so annoying. They need to be banned. If they are, they'll slow down. Why would they keep spending 50.00 on the game? They'll eventually die down if DEVS ban ban ban.

Otherwise, we'll see another LINEAGE 2 on our hands. As much as I love L2, it's full of gold spammers and farmers with bot programs. That's what really hurt it. They use to run trains at the starter villages. Not anymore, now they just farm the 70 areas, lol. I don't want to see Mythic leave gold farmers alone just because they want more subscribers. Ban em all. They'll probably lose 5,000 subscribers at least, right away, haha....stupid gold farmers.

How is this even somewhat annoying? Unless you just can't stand the idea of people buying gold with real money, and even then better reporting won't fix it.

I don't go nuts and go crazy on them and throw shit at the wall when I read their text. I don't reply and say "FUCK YOU STFU", haha.  It's not to that point. Once they spam me every few minutes I'll do that. Well not throw shit at the wall over a game, haha.

I do get a pm every 10 minutes from them. This is annoying because I'm seeing a whisper but it's from a gold farmer. It's not the fact of players buying gold from them. It's the fact of the gold farmers getting away with spamming and ruining the server. TBH, I don't want to even be near gold farmers that are spamming text to people asking them to buy gold. Usually they are annoying to play around. I want them removed from the server. That simple.

From what I have read, Mythic isn't interested in keeping numbers up with spammers. And they are not just banning characters. They are banning accounts...sadly, at this time... the gold spammers are winning...today was horrible

They ban them as fast as they can. There is nothing else to be done.

Could they just IP ban China?

Good to hear that they are banning accounts. Hopefully it slows down soon. I know they'll never stop. If Mythic gets em to the point where they stay silent and get banned here and there and run out of gold stock alot, I'll be happy. Usually when they get banned and run out of gold you know Mythic is doing their job.

I remember I use to look at gold sites for wow along time ago. They use to always be out of stock because Blizzard always took care of them. Since Warhammer is so big right now the Gold Farmers are trying to make the most they can right now. Very annoying. I hope they all get banned. I just hope it slows down. I agree, today was bad.

On Chaos Waste I get a whisper every 5 minutes, usually by the same 3 people.  I gave up on adding them to ignore because the next day it will be 3 different names.

I've actually missed out on people asking to group with me because I block out the blue text now since it is 90% gold spam.  This is the first time I have been annoyed by these spammers.

Fighting goldspammers is like fighting BitTorrent pirates.  It's nearly impossible.  You have to be an elite hacker in order to make counter measure programs to stop them.  You ahve to add annoying DRM style features which will piss off the regular customers.

press o, go to the last tab, its like options or misc., there is a box which says "anonymous", check that, you wont get anymore random spams as they cant find you anymore

This is an inherent problem in most MMOs.Heck even AO just started getting spammers within the last 3-4months after going the last 6+ years with no spammers. As much as it sucks you cant get away from it if you plan on playing MMOs.

 On Mordenhiem, I've noted a significant slow down.  Say, about Tuesday I noticed two three spammers hounding the hell out of me.  But today, in 4 hours, I had 2 over the course of 4 hours.   Both were duly reported and within an hour gone.

My wife and I jsut /ignore each of them as they come, so far we have "The Snob" title unlocked, wonder if there are others?

just do /anon and you wont get one because they cant look you up in a search to send you tells.  Since I did it I havent gotten a spam from them yet.

I get spammed all the time.  I usually report them but last night I responded back to him, "Please stop sending me tells I am not interested."  I'll be damned if the tells didn't stop.

Gawd...go /anon and quit yer complaining.  It won't be long before the gold farmers all start to realize they're losing money and that nobody is interested in their gold since there's already more than enough of the stuff floating around.

  I didn't read through the thread so somebody may have pointed out you can get a mod that auto blocks their spam and reports them.

  Mythic have already banned 4000 of this irritating little scum bags. The only bigger scum bags are those buying it. Makes you wish you could persuade them with extreme violence to go do a different hobby. One where their selfish actions doesn't impact everybody else who enjoys the same hobby. Yes I'm talking to you buyers! Go take up a new hobby, how about playing with traffic on the highways? Or chasing parked cars?

I'm still getting spammed every 20 minutes or more on Phoenix Throne, but I try to report most of them.

I really hope they get zero business from WAR. Gold is extremely easy to get in this game--I already have almost 70g after my mount and have nothing to spend it on yet.
 

One thing I noticed with /ignore is that (for me at least) I m limited to a very small number of names.

When I counted the 'ignored' folks, there were 8 names on the list and then I started getting getting 'You cannot ignore any more people until you remove some from your list'.

8? What is that?

Also, when I /ignored someone, logged off to check an alt then logged back on again, I got a whisper from the same person I /ignored. When I did another /ignore, it said I was no longer ignoring them. The system recognized the name, didn't block it and then removed it completely.

One of my guildies postulated a theory. An /ignore will be pointed in the game database to a specific name, which is associated with a unique ID. If the name is deleted and then recreated, new name but an entirely different ID so you could have someone ignored and yet because the ID is different, the 'link' between your /ignore and the 'new' characters name isn't there.
