Quote from wiki

MasteriesEach of the Chosen's masteries allow for key specializations of the tank role according to play style and taste.

[edit] Path of DreadThe Path of Dread is highly offensive, focusing on direct offensive power while sacrificing some defensive protections. A master of Dread will be likely to favor a Great Weapon over a shield. They will be easily capable of picking up a shield when the situation calls for it... but they won't be happy about it.

[edit] Path of CorruptionThe Path of Corruption is a cunning mastery for those who prefer to wait for their enemies to fruitlessly unleash their most powerful attacks before responding with deliberate and vicious counter attacks. A specialist in Corruption can outlast most enemies, letting their foes exhaust their attacks against their shield, and they will be the person who defines where the lines of battle will be drawn, since they -are- the front lines.

[edit] Path of DiscordThe Path of Discord is one that delves more deeply into Tzeentch's arcane gifts, and masters of Discord have a limited understanding of how to manipulate the Chaos forces that swirl within them. They can unleash blasts of magical power, or twist the aethyr to unnaturally enhance their melee attacks. Their understanding of the nature of magic is still relatively shallow, however, and they can not hope to approach the skill or power of a true Magus, but even their brief flashes of otherworldly energy are enough to empower them as potent melee combatants.

Just reached lvl 11 I wanted to know what s the best to choose for Chosen in the long run.

Dread seems to be for offensive but is it worth it wheras corruption what does it unleash

Which is better in the long run

Path for Chosen is

Path of Dread
Path of Corruption
Path of discord

depends on what you want to do.  i went down the tank path because i literally do draw the battle lines.  those that run ahead are killed and where i make my stand is usually where the heaviest fighting takes place.  i suggest you pick a path that interests you.

I also took the same path its corruption I presume
But then I am stuck to a shield whereas I like a 2 handed weapon better.

Choose which path you seem to like the most. If you are wrong, just press the "Respec" button. Not that hard to change what you want to play with during the course of the game.

there ya go, choose the 1st one then.  if you like 2h so much then go down the line that complements it (1st and 3rd options)

You can just spec into both, and only get certain skill in the trees, or none of them and just buff up the normal skills.

Something like this would be for trying to use both trees without getting extra skills www.wardb.com/career.aspx or www.wardb.com/career.aspx

But if you wanted some skills, like using a shield and having dps skills www.wardb.com/career.aspx or vice versa www.wardb.com/career.aspx or hell, using two handed with defensive skills www.wardb.com/career.aspx

There are literally quite a good amount of different things you could do with your character. You don't have to be ALL ONE TREE!!!! Actually, you can't. If you max out the 15, and get every skill, you still get 3 points to put somewhere else.

Also, don't stress so much if you think you'll get screwed over if you choose the wrong spec. You can respec at any time you want/need to incase you don't like what you chose.

why must i be nice to people that have no clue, are lying, or are just stupid?

do like the other guy said -- spec in a path to the point you get the stuff you want.

could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please?

At the moment corruption as u can get massive damage output even form a sword and board without sacrificing survivability  however i have a feeling the damage on tanks wil be adjusted down (read nerfed) in the near future.  Ican take down 2h wielding chosen on my wh with not too many problems however most of the time i will lose to s corruption specced one.

Greatness is difficult to appreciate from close up. The great mountain on the horizon is only the ground when you are standing on it.

Thanks a lot man

Stupid of me I thought I have to stick out to a single path only

Gives more room for experimenting

corruption and dread are both crap compared to discord until like rank 25. seriously people. extra cleave damage is a joke, and damage on abilities with cooldowns is too. as for better auras....not that good, and not worth taking one of those paths. not until you get some of the abilities and tactics deep in the tree do you start to benefit from dread or corruption, and the only thing corruption improves thats really any good is Bane Shield, and you dont get that until rank 35-ish. Corruption gives you 2 improved auras and repel and your snare deal more damage, and of course the improved bane shield, which isnt any good until you actually HAVE bane shield.

Discord however, gives you an increase to the damage abilities you actually USE as well as 2 auras that are great for dealing damage with those abilities. And a better blast wave will be nice at rank18. But touch of palsy you dont get until rank 40.

My point is, discord is the only decent mastery until around rank 25, so I would go discord and respec to a different path (if you want) later.

But if you are already a different mastery, dont respec discord. Well, not unless you dont care about the cost anyways.

Edit: Discord is also compatible with a shield or a 2h, which ever you would prefer to use. Discord is by far the highest amount of 1h/shield damage you can do before bane shield. If mythic puts Enraged Blow back into Corruption, it will actually be worth it at lower levels, and it would help with tanking because of the increased threat generation. Right now, corruption doesnt help with tanking until high levels because improving those auras and damage on abilities with cooldowns doesnt help with aggro or mitigation much at all.
