There's a misconseption going on that Darkfall fans are rabid fanatics that make alts all day to hype Darkfall and dehype other games. I personally just voted for Darkfall once and that's it. There was some kind of intiative over at Forumfall to push it to the top but it got like what 20 peeps? I think it balances to the "I GAVE DF 1, I R TOTALY SCEPTIC NOW" people.

Fact is that since video launch and beta start there are 60-70k new subs at the forums. This is more than Darkfall forums made for seven years. And hundreds more join every day, also the Darkfall forums here are the most active in the development section. And with WAR launch DF logically took it's place as a most anticipated game.

why the hell do you guy bring Aion up on these boards, as mmorpgs go these two games couldnt be further apart.

not that I have looked much at aion, after seeing it is an anime themed mmorpg, which in itself would make me hype this game a 1, and reading the FAQ it does not even mention any of the important questions I might have like:

1) Does it have instances?
2) Does it have full loot?
3) Can you attack any other player everywhere?
4) Does it have collision detection with friendly fire?
5) Does it have manual targetting instead of tab-targetting assist.

I am sure NO is the answer to all these, and as such the game is nothing more than a Lineage clone where you can fly. Wouldnt touch that turd with a ten foot pole.

You guys and your constant complaining about graphics.  For one, DF graphics are not the best, but they're not the worst either.   Would you rather have awesome gameplay with decent graphics or another AOC on your hands?

See, that seems to be a matter of opinion, or which version of the video you decided to watch. The you-tube version was decidedly inferior in quality, I downloaded the full version and thought the gameplay graphics looked just fine.  (except for the cannonballs, they reminded me of a cartoon and some of the downhill running scenes where the characters seemed to float downhill)

But other than that, I would be more than happy to play a game w/ DF's graphics (looks better than WAR's to me actually) but again, just my opinion

I plan to go play Darkfall. I do hope for a game full of freedom and with a mature community. Things like your comments are not showing too much of this.
Don’t take this last comment too personal, really my annoyance is coming from finding too much lack of respect to other opinions coming from people saying they are going to play Darkfall. Showing respect to different opinions show signs of maturity, the opposite is true too.
 

 

No worries. To me Aion looked nothing like a Sandbox and sounded like another grind game. I definetly do not like the Flying aspect of it. Some people may like that style of game but I prefer sandbox's. Thats primarily why ive been waiting on DarkFall. It is in fact a sandbox.

It has levels and such which is a standard in Grind games. Im sorry that to me makes a grind game.  I guess I could be incorrect about it being an Asian game. It realy looked like one to me but I could be wrong. In my eyes with the information on there site I view it as a Grind Game as I would any game with levels and classes. Sandbox's lack these things for a reason. So no I can't say I see Aion as a Sandbox. These are my opinions of the game are you saying i'm not allowed them?

Has that Asian/Anime feel to it for me atleast. So I see it as an Asian Style Grind Game. I guess I had a bit more information than you thought huh lol.

Oddly enough after doing a brief ammount of research I found out that Aion is being Developed in Korea....... So I guess since it doesn't meet the requirements for a sandbox and does for the grind style MMO's and is being developed in Korea.... that would have made me dead on..... lol so I can now say

Just few points because i think this is a waste of time and is oftopic in this thread.

I never said Aion is going to be a sandbox and second, of course if you think that the fact that a game that has character levels like AC, EQ, DAOC, WOW, LOTRO just to name some, its a grinding game, then yes Aion is a grinding game.

But if you think a grinding game is one like Lineage II to name one of the same company or a lot of other MMORPGs made in Korea, then Aion is not going to be a grinding game.

These kind of games is what the MMORPG comunity names normaly as Korean grinding games. But of course you can consider a different approach. Will be better if you explain your non-standard concept about what is a grinding game before to  use it  to avoid getting people confused about what you say.

Just to resume it in two lines, Aion is going to be a game basically quest driven like WOW or LOTRO, the time to get the level cap is expected to be just a bit bit longuer than WoW and the end game will be focused in faction PvP, well this apparently new concept of PvPvE we will see...

By the way, i'm following Aion since one year ago more or less. Really i follow all the MMORPGs that are able to caught my atention, Darkfall the nomber one in my list, but probably Aion the number two. I know what Aion developper's are aiming with this game very well and is not a "Korean grinding game".

I'm playing eq2 right now as i'm waiting for DF to come out.  And all i can do every minute as the game pisses me off from some unfixed-bug or unbalanced-aspect-of-pvp or lack-of-purpose, is think of how much more interesting DF will be to play.  It actually has featrures, not just the same cookie-cutter game that's on the marker 20x right now with different skins and titles.
