After playing and raiding in WoW for the last couple years I'm looking for a game I can play more casually and still get something out of.
How does Warhammer stack up if you looking at playing say 12-15hrs or non scheduled time a week? Is there still a decent level of character progression if you are just hopping on now and again without adhereing to a set guild schedule? |

well I'm just
I think you'll be fine just doing your 12 hours a week. I haven't seen any timed quest. When you log off you're right where you left off at. I don't have any idea how the higher levels will work out though. |

I think it's great for the casual gamer like myself. There are public quests (200 from what I understand) with good (green) to great (purple) rewards that you can repeat as often as you like. You can come and go into them as you like. There is also open groups so no more lfg. The rvr senarios (battlefields) are fun and quick. Many of the PvE quests are short in duration, and markers are on the map to direct you there. All it all I'm having a great time as a caual gamer here in WAR, and can recomend it in good consious. |

My personal experience so far is that if you have a limited time like 1 hour, you can usually get to a PQ, build some influence, and get a nice item in that amount of time. As a casual (aka time limited) player I find WAR is very casual friendly. You will not keep up with the power levelers, but you can certainly find and do something productive for your character advancement in that time, and have fun doing it if you like what the game is. I hope this helps. |

Well, since WAR isn't a RAID game it should work fine to play casually even though big sieging might be something you miss. Try it out and see if you like it, if not Spellborn is releasing soon and might be worth a look too. |

Cool, thanks for the input.
How do you think this will play out at max level for character progression? After settting my game time to confrom to the guild raid schedule for a couple years, I'm just nervous above getting a character to max and then not getting anywhere with it on a casual time frame with a more erratic schedule. |

Yes, I realize War isn't a raid game, and honestly its why it has my attention. I was planning on a more casual play style in WoW, doing mostly battle ground PVP. But the recent desicion by Blizzard has me looking elsewhere. Will a person still be competitive in War RVR on a casual schedule? |

I'm pretty casual -- 2-3 hours a day at most, though I should note War is enough fun I'm playing a bit more than average. As of level 13, it's great! You can find a PQ (Public quest) you can complete for XP, renown, and nice loot in under 30 minutes with a good group. You can do Scenarios (PVP instances) in 15 minutes, if they're "popping" frequently. And there's plenty of solo PVE questing to do in the meanwhile. |

I think this is the ultimate Casual MMO. you get the same game experiance from start to finish and do not need to be the highest level to have fun. unlike some other games (will not mention names) this game is fun from the start and keeps on pounding out even more fun as it goes. I think you will really like WaR |

I have about the same schedule as the OP and have been having a lot of fun. One cool factor is in PVP, if you're a lower level character you get an effective level "boost." So, say you're level 3 and you enter the T1 scenario - you'll have the same equipment and skills of a level 3 but the stats of a level 8. That at least allows you not to be absolutely slaughtered by the level 10s and 11s, unlike the WOW BGs where the highest ranking guys always PWN. You also won't find a problem with twinks, at least not yet. Now, the level 11 guy will have more skills and better gear than you, so it's not exactly a fair fight. But you can at least have fun and get in the action from the beginning. |

It's the first MMO I've been in where people actually stop levelling because they will have no one in their bracket to PvP with. In this sense it punishes the really hardcores. It's the most casual friendly MMO I've played so far. You can just jump into scenarios at level 1, get your stats boosted and compete pretty decently. Tons of fun for the casual imo. |
