I would rather die on my feet, than live on my knees.

I realize that so many people are saying without a chat channel the game is going to fail etc. I do not think that will be the case at all.

I am loving the heck out of this game and one of the main reasons is because people are forced to explore. I think not having a zone wide chat is genious. I am not missing one bit the "OMFG this is Barrens Chat" or the " In your pants"  comments every five minutes... but the thing I am enjoying the most, and the reason I hope general chat never makes it's way into the game is this...It is incredibly nice to not see every minute or so" Can somebody tell me where so and so is?" can somebody tell me how to get to this place? " " I hate this game because I have been asking for 15 mintues how to find this guy and nobody is telling me" etc...

The lack of senseless, lazy chat is one of the reasons I think the game is so fantastic. I am loving having to go and make my way to every quest hub by (omg) running. I think it is great to stumble upon a public quest out in the middle of nowhere and see how much you can do, or better than that, join a warband and knock the snot out of the PQ. Once again, the world seems larger strictly because there are not people always screaming in a general chat about how to get from place A to place B.

Having to explore is such a large part of a game, and so many people miss it even if they don't want to just by having people constantly ask where such and such is etc.

I say well done Mythic... well done...I still have some issues with the game not running as smooth as I would like, maybe it will smooth out down the road.  I love the game. I love the new ideas, and even the way old ideas fit into the game. I am just having a blast...

it has an area chat channel. i used it once to ask why the town in empire area didn't have a hedge wizard but had an apothecary.

I don't know. Recently I was playing on my Lion Tamer class and the elf area doesn't have a broadcast channel? What is up with that. I love talking and all that, I haven't seen much people talk, even when grouped in warband for PQ.

try typing /1 and saying hi. it's not zone chat, it's just for the little town/mob field you're in. might as well be just /say.

Trust me , I have. It says the channel doesn't exist and you don't have to be a smart ass.

Of course, you are entitled to think what you like.

I am loving the heck out of this game and one of the main reasons is because people are forced to explore.

The Tome encourages exploration, chat wouldnt take away from exploration.

Why does every pro silence poster always quote the worst cliched example that is possible, without recognising any of the good, fun, entertaining chat that has happened in MMORPGs over the last decade.

It's weak lazy thinking.

Why dosent the pro silence crew ever see that friends have been made in general chat, laughs have been made in general chat, guilds have been formed in general chat, help has been given in general chat, newbies have been engaged and encouraged in general chat, reps have been made for better or worse in general chat, and so much more.

EQ2 community isnt like Barrens. CoX isnt like Barrens. LotR isnt like Barrens.

Why do you all insist on reating this false reality when it just isnt true.

but the thing I am enjoying the most, and the reason I hope general chat never makes it's way into the game is this...It is incredibly nice to not see every minute or so" Can somebody tell me where so and so is?" can somebody tell me how to get to this place? " " I hate this game because I have been asking for 15 mintues how to find this guy and nobody is telling me" etc...

Then turn off general chat if you want to.

Why dosent this penetrate the mindset of the pro silence crew?

We want global chat, we enjoy general chat, but that dosent mean you need to participate, join in, or even read it.

Turn it off.

The lack of senseless, lazy chat is one of the reasons I think the game is so fantastic.

Which you would get if you turned it off.

Others though like to help each other, support each other, co-op with each other to build a community of engaged folks that are playing the game together rather then ghosting about 100% solo.

I say well done Mythic... well done...I still have some issues with the game not running as smooth as I would like, maybe it will smooth out down the road.  I love the game. I love the new ideas, and even the way old ideas fit into the game. I am just having a blast...

We enjoy the game as well, and we love the new ideas. We are fans as well, but the social tools are broken right now. A lot of players like the community/ social/ co-op of these games and should be supported in that, Especially with something so fundemental as chat and community support. We pay our dollar as well, and it's all so basic.

How would us having the chat we want take away from your game when you can, yes, simply turn it off?

When the social players leave this game and all that remains is a bunch of introverted l337 guilds then this games days are numbered. Watch newbie retention divebomb then.

No one talks in the Dark Elf areas of Volknar.  It feels almost like going into instances in Guild Wars.

No use, hes one of those guys that can't turn of things, like the guys complaining that you have a arrow pointing to the quest in Guildwars. And when we say "just turn it off" they can't really do that because they get tempted or something... Kinda like a guy that only can stop smoking when they are broke and can't aford smokes.

It is very nice to hear that there is so many RPGing out there but a OCC really don't hurt that, and you can turn it off in every game.

I think they should limit that chat to tiers.. cause It kind of opens a new world everytime you advance in tiers. If you can read their chat it wouldnt feel like that. <-- (This guy is right )
