i forced 8x AA/AF in Nvidia and max the game. run at 40fps constant and it looks liek trash. i love how the game plays but come on? all the screanthots i have seen make it look amazing. it game it looks bahhh

Some races look a lot better than others, which I guess why some people have such different views on the graphics. I personally think the elves need a bit of work.

I like the graphics (when the game works for me!!) has a different feel to it, why do we always have to have this glossy photo realistic graphics?, I think they got a good balance between unabling many players to play and quality of graphics, considering they were expecting huge numbers in RvR...

Although I would of liked to see something similar to what EVE online does with its 'classic' and premium graphics option... having the premium / better graphics a free optional extra download...

4 gbs of ram

8800 gts

And the game looks better than any screenshot I've seen once I forced 4x AA and 16x AF.  whats your VRam on the card?  512?

You will appreciate the way the graphics look the first time you have a battle with 100+ people on the screen fighting at once and it runs flawlessly. The graphics are excellent considering this.

I think the graphics are fine. For the amount of people playing and the gameplay, they go hand in hand. To have phenominal graphics means you have to sacrifice somewhere else. You cannot have the best of both worlds, and I would think the 5+ titles that have came out before WAR would of showed you that. Now as to your thread title. No one lied about the graphics. There are screenshots everywhere of what the game looked like and still looks like. How you bypassed these it quite shocking to say the less. As a consumer, you should always find out information before buying a product. Im not really sure which screenshots your looking at, but the best ones I've seen look just like the game now. Maybe your eyes have been fooling you. Either way, you show me a game that has both and I would quietly shut my mouth. But since it can't happen with todays standerds, good luck. And please don't say Age of Conan. There is a reason they have barely a quater  of the population they once had at launch. I don't need to come up with facts to support that line because you can login to see for yourself. Good day, and do your homework, it helps.

Obviously they didn't make it hardcore graphics because they want many players to experience 100v100 battles later on in the game.

If it's like AoC graphics, how many people do you think can handle that much people on one screen?

Hmm, I don't think Mythic lied about anything.  All of this "high res" client bularky was started by the followers.  I think the game looks fine.  With a little more tweaking to the lighting system the world would be great.

i would say it is exactly the wow graphics. A few more effects that slow the performance respectively.

 The game is like the screenshots.. end of story.

yeah i guess.. i mean the game looks bad in comparison. but the last MMO i played was AoC sooooo........

looks great on a real comp.

Well ehh.. On my rig, its quite nice, but what ever happended to importance of gameplay ? :)

They changed most of the assets, and rendering engine late in development, to help accommodate large amounts of players.

Looks great to me. it even looked ok when it was on lower res during the earlier stages of beta. heh, even that looked better than WoW.
