I love the fact the only dig anyone can really say is the graphics to this game, like omg, that will worry developers, they made the engine so it wouldn't and doesn't lag in scenarios and in open rvr, I'd love the graphics of AoC to deal with city sieges and 2 warbands of people in full graphics fight it out, without uber lag and stuttering! I really like the graphics, maybe I am just weird of something, but the water looks really good, with the sun reflecting off it, and the way is looks realistic brushing against the shore line, the bricks in buildings look really good, and the trees look good too. I don't see what everyone complains about graphics wise, its great for its purpose. I think this game is the best mmorpg I've ever played and I've pretty much played every mmorpg out there, from asian grindfests to western questfests, and this still comes out on top, I can't wait to get to lvl 40 and start doing cities with my guildies. Just over level 20 now, so ridign around on my horse is great! :D |

To anyone who doesn't like this game. Don't play it. End of story. |

This is a very cheap and misleading argument. When we talk about WAR copying WOW, we compare the two products as MMORPG computer games, and not the lore/setting. I agree with what you say, but unfortunately the precedent in MMORPGs is WoW and not Warhammer. WAR follows the standards that WoW set. I don't think that the Warhammer setting included autoattack, talent trees, experience points, quests and quest markers, 6 man groups, combat stances etc etc. |

hmm this wow fanboi troll again, youve been told before: warcraft tried to get warhammers lore applied to warcraft, game workshop didnt like how it was going to be applied and pulled out, leaving warcraft to have to invent their own shallow version of warhammer lore. warcraft is really just a ripoff of everquest and ultima. warhammer has over 20 years of lore behind it, the characters are all pulled from this lore, which was invented before mmo's and personal computers. it is a DAoC ripoff, i think Mythic can do this, seeing as its their game and DAoC is old (1996 release i think) But they did things diffrently in how the RvR and PVE relate, no need to grind to endgame and get gear to do well in RvR like DAoC. Also i dont know about your bitching abount preformance and graphics, the final release disc offerd better graphics and preformance than the beta client. A majority of the bugs have been fixed, and has been the highest quality mmo release ive ever seen, i remember wow having a lot more issues, a lot more. So thanks again for your open beta review applied to final realease. |

These forums seem to be suoper negative about pretty much every game out there so I just wanted to say that I agree with the original poster. I played every pay-to-play mmorpg out there and imho Warhammer is by far the very best this genre has to offer. Truly great game. Casual adult guild recruiting for Champions Online. A swordmaster should be good vs a chosen and a black orc should be good vs a sword master and a ironbreaker should be good vs a black orc and a chosen should be good vs a ironbreaker. Something along those lines. But the game has nobody better then another class of the same career line. Im going to be following your threads Force_Fire because you will not be singing the same tune in 3 months time i predict.
I think WAR is the best MMO ive played and Ive played 10 P2P mmos easily. Its all about personal preference man.
Each class has there job and purpose in this game. This isn't 1v1 PvP this War is about Massive scale battles with tactics. Each class has an advantage over a different class not the same cuz if it were that nobody would pick that tank that sucks.

You haven't played many games before have you? Melanko's Gamer Blog |

It's the best one i've played so far too. Simply because you can pvp from level 1 and level up using PvP alone. I've done that and am level 28 so far. (It does help when you are roll Order tho' -- insta Q's FTW!) That to me is.... pwnage! :) Graphically I like it, gameplay is good, animations could use some work... my horse feels like a block with legs moving. Need to balance server pops and some crash issues but..... So far it's a blast! |

I dont like WoW. I got it when it launched and I made it to level 40 with a warrior. Thats all I played it. I wish I liked it, so that I would also like WAR. Up to now the only 2 games I've liked were pre-nge SWG and EVE. Sandbox FTW!!!

I think the guy offers a very clear oppinion about WAR and it matches what quite a few other people out there think. Stop being so hard on the guy. |

Right next to mine. You'll know it's me, I'm the better looking of the two; no offence to the OP. Not the best ever for me, yet. WoW when it came out was the best for me, but I was playing with RL friends and familly, sort of like I am now. Also CoH was my first MMO and as a comic nut and someone that loves to draw and paint that game just rocked me; nothing compares to your first MMO, but WAR is really getting there. |

Second...I have played a number of MMORPGs SWG, EQ2, EVE, COH, RFO, WOW, AOC, DL...Pre-CU SWG was the first and last mmo I really enjoyed playing. WAR is the first Game in a long time that makes feel the way I did back in 2003 when I logged in to Mos Eisely for the first time...better in fact. The fact is all those other game held my attention for a couple of weeks and became just another boring grind. I have been playing this game since BETA 2 (may 20, 2008) and I still can't get enough. I find myself calling in sick to work just to Raid a Keep. I haven't done that since the days of my Jedi Grind. This is a great game IMO and I can't wait to get home to play it tonight!

But if you think tank vrs tank 1v1 is balanced you are completely wrong. I think as SwordMaster I have yet to be able to kill Chosen or a BO 1v1. This is while dotting them up, and using spirit to hopefully counter their high armor. Yea games balanced in a whole RvR setting. 1v1 Is a joke though. But you gave me a nice laugh. Golf Clap for you. |

This is definetly the best mmo right now for me anyway . I wont say its the best game ever but it will keep me busy till diabloe 3 come out at least |

Oh come on! I can play paper, rock, scissors for free. I don't even have to drive anywere to do it, my brother lives right behind me; I could go over there now and play with him. It just blows my mind that anyone would say something like this about an MMO! What you're saying is that Mythic basically managed to balance a combat mechanic that no other company has been able to do, not blizzard, not sony, not NCsoft. No one. You're trying to take a very glaring positive of the game and make it a negative. BTW, you're wrong. There are elements of paper, rock, scissors in place, just not as bad as some games. Each class plays a role, and will excel in that role if played right. Tanks will have trouble against some classes, ranged dps against others, melee dps against yet another and healers have thier own classes to look out for. The big dif. is that it's not IMPOSSIBLE to beat a class you're a little weak against. As a BW tanks are scarey, not scarey like I'm playing my gnome mage and a warlock just looked at me, but scarey in that if I'm not perfect and that guy doesn't slip I'm going to die, but I CAN beat him. I can't say that about other games. Not WoW, not EQ2, not VG. Warhammer up to t2 is the most balanced game within the classes that I have ever played, and that is hardly something to complain about. |

I just popped into thsi thread for a look, and I think that people are taking what was said a little bit too seriously. Nowhere did the OP say that this was the best game ever. Look again at the title of the thread. The OP said it was the best game they ever played. It's opinion, and an opinion that they were in no way trying to shove off on others. "it's far from the best game ever" is all fine and good as a thought, but it has nothing to dow tih what the OP said... Just saying.

I had complaints about the game during BETA (specifically about the graphics and animation), but I think I can say now the game has won me over. I don't think it's the best game or MMO I have played; I still have some issues with it (particularily the chat and absence of community), but I do think it has turned out to be a solid game. |

Talk about innovation with never before seen Features. PQ's, RvR, Living Guilds, and badass Combat Scenarios make this game a thing of perfection. Almost no instancing in an open world is a spectacular feature. It appeals to the Hard Core and Causal Gamer alike. Incredible Balance!
Just a sincere question, because I am really interested in how you see this. Okay, PQs I get. I haven't seen those in any other games, and they are well implemented other than the fact that most of the greedy people you group with will roll need on items that cannot be used by their class and would be a great upgrade for you. That's a bummer. But other than that mild annoyance....PQs are a LOT of fun. But I need to understand this.....how is RvR different and innovative from what we've seen in DAoC? How are Living Guilds different from the guild system in EQ2? How are the Combat Scenarios different from battlegrounds in other games, other than being a lot smaller, non-instanced, and more plentiful? See....I see all of those things as really re-hashes of things that were already done. Perhaps WAR does them a bit better, but...I wouldn't really call that "innovative."
In my opinion (and it is just an opinion), the best things (read "innovative") I found in WAR were the way things that the realm accomplished as a whole....affected both The Inevitable City and Altdorf. I was delighted the first time I killed some "bad guys" in The Inevitable City and it popped up in my chat that I had contributed to the progression of the city. Wow, COOL! And I also really enjoyed the stories and unlocks in the Tome of Knowledge. But really....other than those things, I didn't really feel like I was playing something that was terribly "innovative." And sadly....after a couple of weeks (and 50 dollars)...I was left just feeling a bit let down and kind of sad. See....I don't think that ANY game is ever going to please ALL of us. I just don't think it's possible. I think WAR is a fine game. It's definitely not for ME, but I can't disparage anyone from playing it. I AM curious though as to the way people think about the above mentioned things that I have heard espoused as "innovative," when....well, I guess I just don't see that. O.o --------------------- |
Originally posted by shohadaban "almost no bugs" is an A+ That is what happens when you're isolated from a community and don't have official forums. There are a couple of threads about major problems on a fansite's support pages that have more or almost as many posts in them than entire sub-forums and date back to beta and head start with still no response (other than copy & paste petition responses) from EA or Mythic. Not to mention the hacks and exploits that are becoming more prevalent, which is scary. There are vids out there already, so don't tell me they don't exist. |

I think MGS4 is a better game overall but WAR is the best MMO I've played, hands down. - - - |

Its just... fun. I love queueing up for a scenario and then doing some quests to get some xp, do the RvR, get more xp and realm points... it just seems like theres so much to do. They could have made it terribly boring and force you to walk miles for one quest but I feel as if I can get and do many things very quickly. A quest literally does not take a long time, where as I found WoW's questing system to be far more dull. Yes theres still the "go kill x Dwarfs" but I enjoy the PQ aspect and the RvR breaks up that leveling. I also love the fact you get XP from pretty much everything.
People blast the graphics but I like em. Not the best I've ever seen from a video game but its really one of my last requirements for if I like something or not. It just has a nice feel in the world and I've barely touched the tip of the iceberg. I have no doubt this game will succeed and succeed very well. I don't think it'll knock off WoW anytime soon but I think it will top 1k subs and then some. 500k in one week is pretty impressive...
Overall I give the game an A, and coming from a MMO player whos played nearly everything on the market its a refreshing breath of fresh air. Its one of the better, most polish games I've invested in and one I will keep playing as long as it stays this fun and entertaining.
