its a tech test, its not a beta, they will basically download a programme that will test the PC specs and confirm if DF will work

As others have stated this does in fact mean the beginning of beta, "Beta Test" is an initial system test or check with a selected group . I would have to say that qualifys. I have been checking my email too guys, lets hope we get into the game real soon after this test. _____________________________ This is his story.... |

The phase the "game" is currently in is Alpha, Not beta. |

as a software developer that has been working in the commercial world for over 10 years, it's clear the stage they are at would be described as 'beta'. alpha means rudimentary functionality, missing features, and known bugs. these guys have said the game has been feature complete and in active internal testing for several months. it's clearly beta. |
