Darkfall is current in a CLOSED BETA, meaning that an NDA is under effect. That said, there are numerous beta leaks available on the internet to those capable of using google.
Darkfall's current release date is the 25th of February 2009.

Thank God this game is actually for real. Now maybe the fanboi's will shut the fuck up........ Oh wait no they won't now they will just say told ya so. Now hopefuly this game will be good enough for them so they will shut the fuck up about sandbox and skill based fucking games. God im tired of hearing people complain about that shit. |

I understand that the following phrase means open beta will not have NDA: "All the testing up to the open beta phase is protected by NDA." Or using "up to" means that includes the open beta too? Asking because, as some of you know, english is not my first language. I think it means that open beta will not have an NDA but I want to be sure.

a handful of people here will be playing WoW 2.0 [WAR] so they won't really have anything constructive to say about the Darkfall Closed Beta emails going out.
All I can say is after playing both WAR Preview Weekends and OB, I was ready to play Darkfall.
WAR was just a terrible and shit experience, it wasn't anything breath-takingly new or wonderful.
It was WoW with emphasis on PVP Leveling.
I'm looking forward to full-loot again. |

yeah the difference is ............................................................................ never really got into sandbox games. Just give me the rides and i'll ride them all day. i take it to mean there will be an initial period of purely hardware testing, starting now (or soon). This will be under NDA so that people who try DF on a system they haven't tested yet who get weird graphical errors don't flood the net with crappy-looking screenshots with the text "Darkfall lolz".
After they're satisfied with their coverage of hardware specs, it sounds like they'll open the "playtesting phase" and gradually let more and more people in and maybe lift the NDA.
Clearly, they're playing it safe and slow, which IMO is the right way to go for a small-ish studio with limited people. |
