Animals hunt for food. Humans hunt for sport.

Have you seen your playtime or interested decline as you grow older? I'm 22 and currently not playing any MMORPG because they have been disappointments (Haven't played WAR--waiting a few months). I really want to get immersed into a game but the only one that has held my interest the longest is WoW--sadly. I prob won't see a good next-gen MMO until my 30s.

You think you got problems ??  I am 63 and have been playing MMOs since they started.

Not playing any at the moment as I think they have gone to hell in a handbasket.

They seem to have turned into single player games with a chatbox.

I doubt I will ever find one that holds my interest again.

Yeah been playing mmo's for 10 years. I play less now at 30 and 2 kids than I did when I first started in EQ.

But look at how "easy" they are now also.

I'm 26 and been playing MMOs since... I'm not really sure...  But it's been a while.  I never did get into the EQ games, and I don't remember what my first MMO was but the MMO I played the longest was sadly RO.  But I have to agree, there hasn't been a MMO that has really perked my interest though I do kind of enjoy RF Online every now and then.  I'm also waiting for Aion and Blade & Soul as well as one other who's name keeps evading me all the time...

"Easy" only equals "better" for crack addicts and MMORPG developers.

I am 36 y/o n been playin MMOs for 10 years. Yes I have found my interest in MMOs have died down.  Used to manage to sit for 6+ hours playing Ultima Online. But now I am lucky to sit for even a one hour session in any MMO. Part of the reason being wife n 5 kids has narrowed my MMO time. But also the lack of any games that hold my interest.

sounds like you guys are over mmo's in general, you have become immune to the drug! I have been getting more and more annoyed with them and havnt been playing any mmo's for about a year.

Trying out WAR in a couple of weeks, if it fails to get me interested that will be the end of mmo's for me for at least another 2+ years. probs still look at them though

I attribute some lower scores of people are giving out due to them growing up and out

You do know they invented condoms over 100 years ago right?

I'm turning 25 at the end of the year and yeah, no mmos for me as of late.  I've beta'd AoC but decided not to get it, same with WAR.  I think it's more of the attitude of the other people playing the games that puts me off as well as the fact that the games are catering to their style of play.  And no I'm not married and have no other obligations other then to myself.

As mentioned above by other posters, it's more of a single player genre now with a chatbox rather then immersive and cooperative.  I'll keep an eye on the future games as they come out but I hold no hope for any of them.  Being a pesimist is better in this case because I expect the worst and if something good does happen I'm pleasantly surprised.

Once upon a midnight dreary, while I porn surfed, weak and weary, over many a strange and spurious site of 'hot xxx galore'. While I clicked my fav'rite bookmark, suddenly there came a warning, and my heart was filled with mourning, mourning for my dear amour, " 'Tis not possible!", I muttered, " give me back my free hardcore!"..... quoth the server, "404."

Gamer of all genres

Despair!!!

im 19 and have been playing games for 13 years since the gameboy played runscape for 2 weeks 7 years ago and been quit wow 8 months ago been playing since release. Ive play all types of games but I hold the mmo genre for last on my list. Fable 2 which the the real next generation game for rpgers and maybe mmorpgers alike even tho you can only co-op with 1 more person online thats pretty awsome for a console game. Secondly the Action the Gears of war 2 promises true teamwork unlike last time with shotgun rolls.

What im saying is all those other genres are what do I say evolving more.

I think the lack of playing as much as you get older comes from two factors;

1. As you get older you have alot more responsibilities and real life to deal with so unless a game is seriously the best thing going on in your life, you're gonna stop playing as much in favor of other priorities.

2. When you are young and start out any game can be fun, but when you get older you have alot more expectations of gaming because you've played more and have a better idea of what you like and don't like.

I still play mmo's but not with the interest that I used to and whereas when I used to quit a game it was a drawn out process of giving away all my cool loot and saying goodbye to friends and guild mates now its just a matter of realizing that I haven't played in awhile and canceling the account.

I'm 25 and to be honest the reason I don't play as much is family and time.   I don't think it's growing out of it, just not having the time and choosing which mmo to play with so many options to pick from.  I think it's all about finding the right game and having the time to play it.  If I can do that I would be on all the time like I used to.

Just turned 26 and I'm in the same boat, no MMO holds my interest anymore and it has nothing to do with the added responsibility in my life. Been playing games for years, and still enjoy many single player games. My problm with MMO's is that they have not grown with me, MMO's have not changed or progressed in 10 years, you wait for the next gen and it ends up worst than the generation before.

Nothing wrong with you, you just want more out of your MMO's than the newcomers, who in a few years time will be right where we are, gameless.

Im 42 have a 5 year old and if  i play 1 it is going to be a casual player type of game.Im getting a wii in the fall so i can play games with my daughter and interact with her more.

Sadly a Wii i feel will be more fun than any mmo out atm.

What is your physical limit?

Everything that was good about that game can be done in Second Life, only better.

TWILIGHT ONION!

9/27/08 2:57:18 AM#21

yep, School, currently looking for a job, Within this year I hope to bid goodbye to the world of mmorpgs for good. They took up a lot of my time and for what? To be honest I never once had fun in a mmo by fun I mean FUN as in FUN like when you figure out a Zelda dungeon all by yourself, or FUN like when you play CoD4 online and you snipe some one from across the map. That kinda fun I just never got from an mmorpg, So with Guild wars and Runes of Magic being my last mmorpgs Im ready to install work programs on my machine and buy a ps3 for my games, Seems I enjoy console adventures and storylines more than 8 months of grinding to get to the point where I can pvp well. I rather spend 2-3 weeks to beat a REALLY good RPG game for my PvE and Play a online shooter like CoD4 (no 8 month commitment needed to pvp well).

In short, Yes My interest in mmorpgs in general is less than my interest in Atari Jaguar Gaming currently.
