How much i try to like this game, whenever i log in i see no Bump Mapping or any other great Grafic effects. My 9600GT runs this games with Max FPS all time which means the Engine is simply some years to old.
I was pretty dissapointed after paying 49 Euro (far to much), installing and then watching the grafics of this game
I think that even DAOC has a much better Athmosphere than Warhammer. This game feels cold.
The Textures are low-medium quality, theres no Texture setting. Instead high quality Models like Vanguard or AoC has i see horrible WoW grafic again.
Grafic is importand to me and Warhammer doesnt deliver good Grafic
p.s i know its all about gameplay for many of you guys, for me too, but i couldnt imagine that the grafics are so extremly bad....

Although I have to agree the graphics don't suit *my taste* at all I also feel that gameplay is more important than graphics (up to a point lol).
I'd at least give it a week or so, unless it obviously disgusts you, then it's probably better to move on :)

Tell that to my PC, he clearly did not got the note. |

The graphics are excellent considering the fact that there can be 100+ people fighting on screen at once, without a hitch. If you want a game with excellent graphics, and shit gameplay, Age of Conan is for you. And actually, while AoC has higher res textures, I think the artwork and equipment detail is way better in WAR. |

Or if you want to barely be able to fight with 48 vs 48 like in AoC, it's your choice. I would go for the mass scale always. |

Thats just complete rubbish pal - and yes I played Aoc with a top spec pc. It is between WOW and AoC.
The graphics knock the socks off wow but it wont come down to that its all about gameplay and both have that in heaps. WAR is at least as stable and polished as WOW was on release if not better. I waited 13 hours to get into WOW on release day - I was in WAR in 15 minutes.

The graphics are "utilitarian" Just enough to get the job done. The upside is that the game isn't a system hog. You don't need to sacrifice a virgin just to be able to upgrade your computer and run the game with just mediocre settings "The Empire always strikes back!" - Grand Admiral Pallaeon |

Why worry about life, you won''t survive it anyway! |
Originally posted by tetammoth Are you complaining just for complaining, you have MAX FPS and you are not happy, let me guess, you wound still complain if you had LOW FPS
WAR is a RvR game, with +200 peoples fight, so if you want peoples to run the game, you have to make some choices and I choose gameplay over graphix. |

I tried turning everything up including AF/AA in nvidia control panel and setting everything to high. The graphics were brilliant. Then I turned everything down again so I could PvP in a keep battle with 50 people :P I would turn the graphics down anyways in any massive PvP game. So doesn't really affect me. |

Playing on a laptop, no shutter here. Probably because I knock my settings down intentionally... because I like good game play, not pretty sparkles. |

WAR is similar to both WOW and AoC - what would suit your taste ? Anyone that thinks thye can pick up a new MMORPG and feel at home straight away is naive - you can barely pick up any game and do that let alone something as grandscale as a virtual landscape full of freaks an mythology.

Seriously, there are such a huge gap between the graphic engines of WAR and AoC that we could very well aim for a middle ground. WAR could sure use some improvements of, at least, textures, which are rather pale, for those with high-end comps. And that would not hurt WARs amazing gameplay one bit. ............. |

I have never seen any stuttering, and I've been in battles with 75+ people on each side. |

Some people seem to have real problems with the game, my guess its specific to some systems, I run at constant 60 FPS everywhere(everything maxed out) other than scenarios, for some reason it stutters ALOT on scenarios.

I like war but can't completely agree with this. WoW was less stable due to far underanticipated demand (e.g. overloaded servers and bandwidth), so I agree with that. But as far as polish goes, I've gotta say wow was still more polished. WoW looked better on a far lower quality pc then war does on my current upgraded computer. As far as war graphics go, I cannot say I am impressed. Add in the massive lag I get, and it's a bad combination of subpar graphics and laggy gameplay worse then wow launch (except for wow's loot lag of course). That being said I can't wait to get back in and own some chaos nubz. :) Once they get the game stable and fix a few of the (already very low number of) bugs, war will be a smooth gaming experience. |

af to 16.. aa to 4-16 .. suggested at 4.. due poor optimization of aa.. ( there isnt any. so ye no optimization ) and game looks good.. as some will say af will blow your performance to dust with a lot of players.. sometimes it does.. i got sli.. so clearly more power than yours.. if sli in this game works.. i should test some day.. |

The graphics look fine to me also, so I don't understand what the OP is so unhappy with. Apart from occasional patches of lag which I think is actually the server, the graphics are smooth & perfectly in tune with the game setting. I don't know if people in the US have the same lag issues that I can see on the EU servers, but I assume/hope that they will resolve these soon & the game will run without a hitch. Maybe the OP just doesn't like the Warhammer world setting, but I think its wonderful. If you can't "Have your cake & eat it too", then how can "The proof of the pudding be in the eating"? |

Lol at WAR so far, I am pretty sure my SNES had better graphics than this game, and please don't say its great for 100v100 battles, I don't want to see 200 plastic rectangles bumping around into each other, its just not enjoyable. The whole thing just feels like...well like its for kids, not being one, this isn't going down to well so far. |

I dont mind the graphics at all but I agree that they seem older than 2008. Unfortunately they using DaOC engine with some improvements but the game definetely doesnt feel like 2008.
We just all have to wait until blizzard reveals its next gen mmo, starcraft universe. Then this game will die very very fast.
Blizzard will make the next gen mmo world PvP focused. 3 races, epic wars.

It's WARHAMMER, it's supposed to be iconic, self-ironic and overstyled. If you don't like the design, blame GAMES WORKSHOP ffs. The GFX engine is GREAT considering what it does in large scale battles. To actually prove this, log on to LotRO, join the Ettenmoors, set your engine to "Quality: very high" and join a 2 raid, keep battle. MY machine does not handle this (E8400, 4gig, GTX280) and I never ever met anyone whose rig did. Join EQ2, set to ultra high and try to walk through a player population of 10 or more. Stutterparty. Vanguard, yaaay, runs nice, as long as not more than 5 players are around. At this point you have to set everything to medium to be able to evade TREES. So what Mythic did was "ok, how can we get large scale battles running and look decent". Every kid dev and their mom can make a game look shiny in 3 vs 3 or PvE skirmish. Large player cumulations are where a dev team can show if it knows what's the meat of Massively morpg... M >You hit God with 'Atheism' for 0 points of damage (status immunity). |

I think thats just a poor excuse, I Beleive they could have done better, but they have there money now....next. |
