I am probably like a lot of players out there that bought WAR and have mixed feelings about the overall graphics when compared to the likes of Vanguard or AoC etc. If you have played the game you know that the options on the graphics is pretty much 'high quality', 'performance' settings only. There is a way to improve the graphics as I found out last night. However its not going to change it dramatically either. If you have a Nvidia card go to your Nvidia settings, open it, then go to Nvidia Control Panel. Then go to 'manage 3d settings' if you are like me and had the AA and Texture filtering on application controlled or default then you can improve it by actually setting it at x8 or whatever and fix the quality at high. I jumped back into WAR after I did this and even though the graphics did not massively change the detail, textures and lines were definitely clearer, finer and performance remained the same. Let me know if you find the same :)

As well all know, these games are on the top of every single players list. Graphix does not make the game, as you have your proof in your own post. WoW does not have the Vanguard and AoC graphix and it is still at the top. So guess what, graphix are secondary to most gamer. |

Even putting them to 4x improved it for me. Just makes everything a bit smoother. I have a E8400 @ 3.00GHz, 2gb of ddr2 (need one more gig, war uses quite a bit i guess... not a lot left to alt tab, etc) and a 8800 GT 1gb. Runs fine for me so far. Using xp sp3. Quite enjoying myself so far.
*edit* Conclusion, if you think your pc can handle it i would say you should have forced it yesterday. Don't know why they didn't put it in the options for the game, it does make a real difference. You can set the settings for war.exe only using the control panel > manage 3d settings > program settings > add program. |
