Just a question I am looking forward to the answer to. I enjoy crafting and miss a MMORPG that is heavy with crafting. Just back into the mood for crafting. Minadin |

Ryzom is free atm and is very crafting oriented "This is the most intelligent, well qualified and articulate response to a post I have ever seen on these forums. Atlantica Online is very friendly to crafters, as majority of the equipment are crafted by players. It's also pretty unique because it's turn-based MMORPG with a historic setting. You can control up to 8 mercenaries in addition to your main hero and can change tactics depending on the circumstances. I played closed beta so I can definitely recommend this game. Open beta is starting so maybe you can check it out. |

why must i be nice to people that have no clue, are lying, or are just stupid? |
ultima online and pre-cu swg. could we please get correspondent writers and moderators, on the eve forum at mmorpg.com, who are well-versed on eve-online and aren't just passersby pushing buttons? pretty please? |

if you dont mind 2d isometric, cutesy/cartoony graphics, luminary/goonzu online might be to your liking. you can almost make everything in the game, from pots, armors, weapons, food, tools, etc. and its free to play.

Another DF hype here. In Darkfall, nearly every item is craftable. With full loot and durability loss on items, combined with single character per server (it won't be like WoW where people can just make stuff for themselves), people will constantly be in need of crafters. Player driven economy ftw. Well, once the game comes out... ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ |

EQ2 or Vanguard. In EQ2 you level up your crafting separate of your level and a lvl 1 toon can be a lvl 70 crafter (but it's a bit demanding since you have to buy or trade materials). You also have to counter certain things while you crafting to make it a top notch item. In Vanguard you can build most of anything. |

Just want to remind people he asked for a free game, EQ2 and vanguard aren't free. ;) You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up. |

Atlantica online's crafting isn't exactly in depth, it seems more of a combat addon than a proper crafting system. Just like any other mmo you need the required materials but thats about as the normal crafting type system goes in this game, after you have the materials it tells you what can be made from them. Then you choose what to make and then it goes all weird by forcing you to fight mobs to generate the required energy to manufacture the item. At least that was the system in the closed beta somehow I dont think it has changed. Anyway my recommendations for a good free crafting friendly mmo would be the free version of anarchy online and voyage century.
Don't know if you can run it? |

Just came across Wurm Online, sounds very crafter-oriented. Give it a try, I will. :} You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up. |

Thanks so much for the answers. I read the article on Wurm Online, looks good will try it. Darkfall I signed up for beta so heres hoping. I think a MMORPG with items that decay is great, the people who like combat will be satisifed as its a money sink and crafters will get to shine. Any other suggestions for FREE crafting heavy MMORPG's? I have played most everything since Meridian 59 so I do know a little bit about what is considered crafting heavy. Thanks so much, Minadin |

How can anyone recommend Atlantica with that screwball stamina system? Worst f2p out there in my mind. |

Darkfall is pay to play. And that's only if it releases without completely bombing. Also, every ganker/griefer run out of every other respectable game will be calling DF home. Funcom needs to change the /petition command into a general nano called "Summon Personal Jester" I keep hearing about this cloud computing thing and I bet that's where FC is putting the grahics engine. Right now they're investing in the weather balloon technology to get all the bits of code up there. Helium is expensive so it might take awhile. |

The games beta just started today so they might change that, and from what ive heard the stamina isnt that bad |

Another game which is more crafter oriented is Wonderland Online. You can fight monsters for loot to make items, but you can also use other methods. Some items require much more time to be made than others and therefore not everyone makes everything, but lots of people are willing to buy lots of things. It's not only gear you can make, but also food to restore your health and furniture for in your home.
Have fun! ~Have fun~ |

I tried Wurm Online last night based on the article here on MMORPG.com. I deleted it after 5 minutes. The game being Java based I had no problem with, but the controls were ancient and choppy. Feeling like I was in a Meridian 59 beta I quickly became nauseous due to loss of equilibrium. Now to try the next choice Darkfall, if I can get into the beta, or Atlantica. Then on to the next suggestions. Thanks Minadin |

And I couldn't find those NPC guides. :) And for some reason, a lot of people were white. Ah well, I suppose there'll be some good craft games sooner or later, small change they'll be free though. ;) You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up. |

Everything you type just reads out as blah blah blah |
