That doesn't mean shit, AVE is their distributor. They just burn CDs. Seriously people when any other game is about to launch do you check their distributor's business history? You're clutching to a straw, a old one. It's clear that Aventurine have to launch the game this year or atleast start a beta otherwise it will be a complete business suicide after so much hype. Eh, guess it's because I'm from the states. I'm not clear here, but I'm fairly positive they haven't found a NA publisher, just the EU. So until they get a NA publisher, I don't see gamestop knowing about Darkfall. Every Gamestop or Store dedicated to Games only, has no idea what DFO is. Everyone I've went to, I say, "Hey man, You heard of Darkfall Online?". I get the same answer everytime, Nope. I then precede listing features and they begin to drool. I think I've showed the gameplay video to about 8 of my friends, all who were drooling over it, so 120k is maybe an understatement. I mean, granted others are doing the same thing I am.

Which also reminds me, I forgot to add this to my last post. Darkfall has stated they want the NA & EU launches to be simoltaneous.Tasos clearly stating they won't compromise the vision they have to any extent. I think the next big news announced from DFO, will be a NA publisher. Then shortly after, comes the beta announcement :) I could be wrong, only time will tell ^^

Trust me. forumfall numbers do not reflect a different person for each count. Just as mmorpg.com's 923,172 members does not reflect 923,172 different people.

There's MANY reasons why people create alts here and every other forum.

I stated the facts. Is AVE not their publisher? If I am wrong, please let me know because according to Adventurine, AVE is their publisher.

You have to submit a dxdiag.  That should discourage multiple entries.  Then again, it's possible they don't even check for duplicates.

They will probably use the same mechanic they will put in place to prevent people from making multiple accounts in the finished game, thus allowing them to play alts. If they can prevent that, then they can prevent people from signing up twice.

I am sure they are checking for duplicate ip addresses.

Come on how many normal people would go out of the way and go through a proxy to register with two diff ip's.

You know that people actually PAY to get spots in Beta-Tests? I mean...on E-Bay and so on. I'd think if people do that, they will do other things to heighten their chances at a Beta-Spot.

People there is no sure way to prevent multiple acounts, registrations, etc. in internet.

There are many tools around to prevent been detected.  Only people that lack of knowledge will be caught.  And they will learn eventually.

This is a problem for games, forums, etc.

Btw, dxdiag doesnt ensure anything.  If you have access to more than one computer you have then more than one dxdiag and that's not even editing it.  And I am pretty sure there maybe many ways to create or modify dxdiags... its just a text file.

You have to invest a lot of money to prevent this kind of things and, even then, people will find the way to by pass your mechanisms.

Thinking otherwise is naive.

people do it here ALL the time....and mmorpg.com doesnt even have a beta.

When I served on staff here it was staggering the amount of people who created alts even when it specifically says you are not allowed to. We even developed an email system and other "deterrents" of having people create alts here. Like I said, The Darkfall subforums here has the highest concentrated amounts of alts than I have ever seen at mmorpg.com

But they do.

And they do it for the same reasons why they do it at other game forums...and its not to spread flowers of love and joy to people.

there is a closed beta, apparently. And they have claimed that open beta will only be a few weeks before actual game...so thats only like 21-28 days (a month-ish).

Only the most optomistic people believe it will be out in 2008, far more likely to be mid to late 2009.  Not shown in any shows, Leipzig was just last month in Europe, did not even show for that, so pretty much concludes they don't quite have a playable game yet.

I don't get how Ozmodan could be viewed as a vaporware troll from his post. He is saying the game will come out, just not in 2008. He gives reasons on why he believes this, but it's hardly a vicious attack on the game.

2008 is a bit early to expect a release, given whats come out so far, with the beta being in "signup" phase still.

And still being in their Alpha test (its not really a closed beta) right now with so called "Professional testers"

-I'm not convinced if it does get rushed out this year that it will of been at least properly tested and everything is going to work as planned- (but it wouldn't be an MMO if everything worked like you expect it to)

for them not to have a playable game, it would mean that all 6 gameplay videos, totalling approx 30 mins of footage, released over the past 3 years, have all been faked. not to mention the 600+ screenshots, which would also have to have been faked. of course it's possible, but at this point, with a signed distributor and signed server provider and announcement of beta and release, skeptics of the game's existence just look like trolls and/or ignorant simpletons, usually both.

of course there is nothing wrong with skepticism -- skepticism is good -- but being skeptical about things for which there is tons of evidence (eg: evolution, global warming, darkfall being a game), can really only be ignorance and/or stupidity.

Its an old habit in western economy busines to pay someone for to give you a playable game. Did you pay for to be allowed to receive a playable copy?

[This is ofcourse a naive question cause in real, any developement of any product is company interns and represents know-how and accomulated capital of the company so it would be a joke for them you asking them to show you their product before they want to do it]

If not then its old habit in western economy to wait for the rules of the developers of  a product  on how and under wich circumstances you allowed to have access to their product.

understand that vaportroll ? Without having put money in you dont have any right for geting any proof or any playable game.

But in their greatness DF allowed even private followers of the game to take a look on it on some accasions and they written about. Use search.
