go to www.xfire.com of click on my signature.  Basically it is a program that runs in the background and is kinda like aim in that it lets you have a buddy list but it works in game so it pops up a window in game when someone says something and it supports voice chat, video capture and some other nice features for gamers.  It also tracks your game usage so you can click on my sig link and see what games and how much I've played as long as I have xfire running, logged in and it is working properly.

You need to look at it more going week after week comparing one day to another.  So how was last monday compared to this monday, not how was sunday compared to monday...  Kinda like looking at AoC stats since you are familiar with them.  AoC goes up every weekend and down every weekday.  Thats not significant in itself thats normal based on patterns with just about every other game.  Look at wow for a good baseline.  Anyway what is significant is where one day week after week you see a decrease.  Look at AoC for example, for the past 12 weeks it has been trending down 10-20% week after week.  It is starting to look like it might be flattening out some but time will tell.

So I'm hoping this helps you understand more about stats and how to interpret the data from a source like xfire.

Thanks for usefull input on the topic. Let me however also pass you some usefull info on the topic. AoC has a compatibility issue going on with Xfire (for some users). This is aledgedly why xfire is a particularly bad tool to use with regards to gaming activity in AoC. My question to you and all the other people further up in this thread is; Have you heard of any similar compatibility issues for WAR (xfire users this is where you are supposed to pop inn and let us know)? If not I would be carefull applying AoC's case on to WAR's profile in xfire.... Finally, a pice of information for you... There is no other game in xfire that EVER had a 40% drop in activity over a weekend. What makes you so confident in that this is normal?

mmm.... War was launched on 18th Sep, and according to xfire, it actually went up 7% since launch.

If you are saying it went down 40% from 21st to 22nd, lets check other top rank games on xfire

Wow: down 39.2%

COD4: down 30%

COD2: down 32%

CS: down 33%

War: down 37.4%

and some other top rank mmorpg:

EVE: down 31%

LotrO: down 44%

So it's normal to go down around 30%-40% from sunday to monday, people do have to work you know.

According to you :

Are you sure this is not related to that a tonn of players think the game is boreing or that graphics is subpar? Read on a different post that dramatic changes in xfire (like 40%), certainly not can be explained by weekend effects. Xfire is supposedly a good tool to use to monitor game populations;)
