It should have came out before or during WoWs release, I say that  because there is still that WoW feeling in this game matter fact it feels more linear than WoW, but it would of been the great alternative seeing as how much EQ2 failed. Now 4 years later it just feels like that been there done that feeling, I cant explain it it just feels like a game that should of not been released in 2008

I feel the opposite.  I started playing this game as something that could be fun until WotLK comes out.  Now that I've played a while and found out how much depth there is, I seriously doubt that I'll even bother with WoW's expansion.  WAR to me feels like the next step beyond WoW.  Not a revolution, but certainly an improvement.

Sorry you feel that way. I played WoW for 2+ years and have been back once or twice before dropping my sub again 2 months ago.

I'm hooked on WAR atm.

This game does not have a WoW feeling. However, it does have it's roots firmly in the EQ1/DaoC style of MMOs which is what WoW based itself off of. And, they all based themselves off of PnP RPGs. So, in that respect, WAR doesn't feel much different. But, it's still hella fun. Linear? Sure, if you want to criticize the level based structure or the way quests will take you from one location to another. But, really, isn't that a moot point? This is the way these types of games are. It's like getting pissed at an apple because it is a fruit. Anyway, not linear to me when I can do solo quests, public quests, RvR or crafting.

Been there? Done that? The two games, outside of the basics (quests, leveling,eetc...) are nothing alike. I am not sure how you can say "been there done that" about WAR - if so, then you can say that about eery MMO that has come out.

It actually came out at the perfect time. No company can allow WOW to dictate their release schedule. WOW will always be the 800lb gorilla in the room so you do what you have to do as a company. WAR was timed perfectly - after the failure of AOC, time of the year when game releases are few and far between, before the LOTRO and WOW expansions and at the start of the Fall, when we become a more sedentary people (cooler weather, school, etc... cause us to stay at home more).

Since when did EQ2 fail? It's still a thriving game, even with these juggernauts out there. WAR has come out at a fine time, when many WoW subscribers are burning out, or have been for a while, and wanted something new. Had it come out at the same time or before WoW, I doubt either game would have done as well as they are. First off, because MMO's weren't as popular before WoW, so WAR wouldn't have gotten as many subs as they do, and I believe Warcraft is a bit more widely known, as I think more people playing MMO's, have been playing game on computer more than playing with miniatures.

But it's all irrelevant.

I have been playing MMO's for years.  Since 1999.  Including WoW.  Other than the slight similarity in Graphics this game is nothing like WoW.  I played DAoC for 3 years.  If (and I think it is) War can be compared to anything it would be DAoC.  No one can truly completely and effectively judge this game until you get to the end game and real RvR..  Until you have fought in the massive group battles that were experienced on DAoC and hopefully I will have the pleasure to experience in War, you cannot fairly judge.  There just is not comparison to endless raiding dungeons.  Also you will find that every server will be unique in it's own way.  Certain players will stand out as great leaders on the battlefield that when people see that they are leading the battle,  will jump in..  Others will stand out as supreme jerks, that no one will want to be around..  Guilds will be truly known by the renown they acrue.  It is truly a different experience.

I'm not saying this will be for everyone.  Just saying it can't truly be judge till you experience the whole thing.. This game will be nothing like WoW.

Come all back when you've got your epic mounts to fly all over Warhammer country and land and go anywhere you want.

Oh wait ... that won't happen in a 3D world where dwarfs take 6 steps of a staircarse at once and the tunnels in the game make for the most boring liniair PVE content ever invented.

NPC's don't agro, respawn rates of games anno 2002 and a PvP fight wth NO CC and at a pace my grandmother could fight.

Just sick of this mentality.

War is sucking like hell and you want to sell it as if it were the next big thing.

If I were Blizzard I would stop making games: we could all play the living heaven  that War is.

Actually if you are sick of our mentality, then try explaining your post - it makes absolutely no sense what so ever.

it reads as if it is one huge tirade about how you lost a PVP match to the opposing faction and want to whine about it. Seriously.

Did you even play the game? I mean seriously - what is that about the dwarves? That really bothers you? How sad.

See and then you complain about NO CC. That is what makes WAR great. Other games have so much crowd control that you basically run in the battle and lose control of your character until you die. That isn't PVP. No crowd control means it takes skill and strategy to win. Sorry just can't root all the melee in place, you have to deal with them.

And if you think the fights are slow paced, then you have not played - you are simply restating the crap you read on these forums. A 300+ person PVP battle the other night that was so fast paced, I couldn't keep up. it was a huge battle and one of the best PVP fights I have ever been and this is going back to keep sieges in DAOC.

Of course, I think you are just too jaded and angry at MMO's that you cannot see WAR's benefits beyond your own closed-minded biases.

i think it came out at the right time, cause alot of people where waiting for the expansion to come out and picked up WAR till that while as they would not have if it came out at the same time as WoTLK also, WAR annouced thier date before.

I dunno, maybe it should have gotten out a month after the Wow expansion, when some wow players are really tired that all their uber gear is worthless and they realise that they have months of grinding in front of them, that always turn some people off. Off course Bliz have a nack of finding new players also.

I don't think it would have become a succes in 04, the competition was stiff there, Wow took most PvE players and created tons more while Guildwars took most of the PvP players (Wows PvP was not that intresting at launch).

08 they compete with AoC and Spellborn, 09 were talking Aion and Guildwars to mention 2 games...  Theres always some competion, last year might have been better with LOTRO and Vanguard however.

And yes, the graphics could be more exiting but Wow wasn't state of the art graphics even in 04, gameplay is also in the equation. Will WAR be one of the gigants? Dunno but I don't see it getting 10 million subs, it is a bit nished, Wow have always tried to aim to a big audience.

Im sure there is atleast 1 rep you have not completed yet in WOW. Try timbermaw rep to grind while you wait for WOTLK. You keep coming here to the WAR forums to spout trash about the game and why? Have you truely beat WOW already as looking at your post history shows that WOW is your baby.

If you are really that scared that your current items in WOW are gonna be useless due to the XPAC thats fine but no need to come here and take it out on the WAR boards take that shit to the WOW forums. Did your guild or all of your friends decide to quit WOW for WAR or something I just dont understand what pleasure you get coming here daily to bash WAR.

Stop stroking your almost obsolete season 4/ T-6 gear and just buy a copy of Warhammer and have some fun in a game for once.
