I think it must honestly be a good game for what it is is.  Why?  Let's be honest here.  The MMORPG.com forums are a cess pool of negativity.  These are literally the worst gaming forums I've ever seen in my life.

No one ever sings praises, they just rain criticism.  If you aren't seeing 10,000 threads about how WAR is a complete failure then it must be decent; particularly with all of the hype surrounding it.

The reason for the negativity is that no new game can ever bring the same buzz as your first MMO game could. But instead of saying that I have changed many many people say its the games that have gotten worse and they become bitter and angry because they can never get their gaming "youth " back.

I think we can say objectively that MMOs have changed towards the Theme Park type of game, in general.

Which isn't exactly a bad thing, although every sandbox fanatic and their mother seem to cumulate on the MMORPG.com boards. And these guys never grow tired of ranting, one day it's "evrything's sooo bad, I think I gotta quit MMOs in general", next they they're back on set bashing the next "cookie cutter theme-park no-skill carebear MMO"...

M

Well it's not a bad thing for you. I'm what you call a sandbox fanatic I guess.

My interest in this game is wanning pretty fast.

I guess I'm not a PvPer as I find WoWs PvE approach to the game more interesting.  The quests and the small group instances are more enjoyable then going out to PvP over and over again.

The classes in WoW have more options.  The characters in WoW can choose to use different weapon types for the class/race they choose.  They aren't locked into sword/hammer/axe.  They also aren't restricted by race in terms of armor they can wear.  Duel weild is also lacking on the good side because of this restriction.

The constant fighting going on is annoying.  The people stand around whacking at eachother constantly.  I'm not sure how that is supposed to make it feel like a war is going on.  It looks fake and it never ends.  The people keep wacking at eachother in the same exact spots unending.

This is also a problem with the public quests.  Since the public quests are not instanced you end up with the feeling that you are just doing the same thing over and over with no impact at all.  Thats if you can get enough people together for a public quest.  It might have worked better if it was like a WoW instance or how the scenarios worked where you que up for it and they you go in with a certain amount of people.

The game is fun to an extent, but I don't believe the PvP is going to keep players playing as long as the PvE does in WoW.  My feeling is the game will be a niche market for those who like this RvR style battles.

the question is: Do you think it does get any different with you guys putting down every single "themepark"-MMO released?

The industry produces games (and concepts) that sell, and they sell, well, because they're fun. I'm not g rowing tired of adding that I enjoy EvE as much as I can enjoy WAR. They're both great games and I don't see how bashing games helps anyone. It's actually only vomiting selfish anger, you guys are not helping anyone but your own frustration. If you don't like a product, act like a grown up consumer and don't buy/use it. That's ALL a capitalist system understands. As long as people buy it, it will be offered...

M

EDIT: Actually, by testing it in beta or even buying it and testing the 30 day free gametime you're shooting yourself in the foot because you support the very game you don't like

>You hit God with 'Atheism' for 0 points of damage (status immunity).
>Turn ends.
>God casts 'summon plague'
>You suffer from 'Glioblastoma multiforme'
>God's 'Glioblastoma multiforme' hits you for 73281 points of damage.
>You die. Quit? (y/n)

So you want only people that likes the games being in the market posting? Is that what you mean? Or posting but not complaining, talking about other things? I really don't understand your concept of a forum or of a discussion or even of free speech.

Leveling up in WAR is a huge drag. Once you hit level 10 it takes forever to get another level.

I bet a lot of people quit due to this alone.

Another reason is boring game play.

WAR will suffer the same fate as AoC. The servers will be full for the first month then slowly the population will fall.

Come 11.13, WAR will be empty.

Think for yourselves and let others enjoy the privilege to do so as well.

And if ppl hate reading posts that 'bash' if you will any game because they felt let down after paying for it, they

A) Don't read it, or read it and forget about it.  Or

B) Not comment on the post, because complaining about complaining is just as unproductive.

No MMO will EVER, at any point in time, get positive feedback on these forums.

The best indication of a good game is silence. No negative threads, no fanboy threads. It's a good sign for WAR.
