I give so many bad reviews, since most MMO's out there, at least newer ones, are total crap!! So when I get a chance to say something positive about a game, it must be quite a game!! What can I say... Eve is a great game in many aspects! The only draw back is the server lag and trying to keep up with the people who have played since release day. Anything you want to do in this game, you are allowed to. Blow up your allies, camp areas and kill people as they come in... best part, when you PvP and kill someone, you can grab their loot. How many MMO's offer that anymore? While Eve does have its drawbacks, such as the scenery which does not improve much in the game, the lameness of mining (asteroids really should have been done differently IMO), and some imbalances with speeds and such... this is all minor when you look at how great the game mechanics are. There are tons of items if you like crafting, the GUI is simple but everything you need is simple enough to get to. The general graphics of the GUI are pretty good. Eve excels in a few areas. Corporation management (guilds), the ambient music, and a PvP system unmatched by nearly all other MMO's make this close to being a perfect game. Well, I spoke my peace. If you're looking for a new MMO to play, try this one out with their 14-day free trial. The game starts out kind of slow until you build up some skills (which are all learned real-time) but given a bit of time, the game becomes very enjoyable. |

Only thing I would add to this is if you log in and do not join a corp you will get bored after a few days of being alone. Having a corp that helps you learn the ropes, gives you minimal supplies, a lot of advice, and most importantly a goal to work for makes the game much more fun. |

Apart from that; don't expect any handouts, not from the game, other players or "quest givers". This is a game where you HAVE to put in effort (read, learn and prepare) to make it. |

You should've read his whole post. By the way, please start writing in english. And stop using stupid internet memes that have neither been funny, nor original, ever. To the op, interesting post. Nice to see something different from the usual whine and flamebaiting. |

Well, that's your loss. And since you didn't read the whole review your response completely inappropriate. Please don't try to comment on what you haven't read, it makes you look really foolish. To the OP, I pretty well agree with you assessment of EVE. I especially love the fact that what you do in this game really matters. In so many MMOs you can play for a year without ever affecting another player. In EVE, everything has an effect. Sometimes the effect is small, but it can be really dramatic too. Great post! |

Originally posted by ceforlife I don't really understand this, here. Yes, the skills train in real time so, say, if you joined right now, I will always have more skillpoints than you. But, there are no players in the game who can do everything (simply too many skills), and there is no way for you to apply all of your skillpoints to any one activity, since you can't train any skill past level 5. For example let's say I'm in a frigate with lasers. My skills in other kinds of frigates, any larger ships, other weapons, mining, industry, trade, whatever... none of those skills have any bearing on my performance in the frigate. What this means is that a new player can be equally good at piloting a frigate as an older player. The skills system doesn't mean that old players do anything better, just that they can do more things. Also, it's worth pointing out that after a point the only thing keeping you from buying ships and stuff isn't whether you have the skills for them, but whether you have the money, which, if you're clever (I'm not) is very easy to come by in large amounts. |

If you want money just get in a corp that runs L4 missions and you can make 3-9 million a mission. |

I think the question here is WHY you would want to try and keep up with people who have been playing since release day because eve isn't that style of game. As another poster succintly puts it, maybe wow is more your style of game if you're into keeping up with the Jones' and comparing equipment sizes. And as for attempting to "keep up" with someone whos been playing for many years... I'm not really sure how that works. Perplexing. You could maybe try and catch up to him? |

All I'm saying is, someone who has been playing forever, and who can easily spend the game currency to fly the faction ships with a faction fit, with no worries to purchase another... well, it is just hard, especially in PvP, to go head on with someone like that. That is the only point I was trying to make. |
