Of course, MMORPGs have many of the same features that pass from one to the other from everquest through swq and wow inlcuding levels, classes, combat mechanics, quests etc etc. That's a MMORPG for you.

What's different? First and foremost open world RvR. It's amazing fun. After a while of playing it dawned on me that no other game really does what War is doing besides maybe DAOC which I only ever played for an hour during beta.

While PQs might not sound revolutionary they do take the PvE experience to another level and remove a lot of the annoyances that single player questing brings.

The game has enough differences to be a refreshing change.

I currently have a double edged effect I haven't been used to for quite a while, log on and play more or get some work done. I want/need to do both.

Open world RVR has been done in DAOC and open world pvp has been done way back in UO .

I do not find PQ enjoying because the AI is so dull and that's a fact. Developers are at the time that they can create far better AI. Upcoming TCOS proves this and even guild wars proves this!  It is possible and developers should create a better AI . Pve get's enjoyable when the mobs aren't just standing to be killed.

Mmorpg's have so much things what has not been touched yet and in other genre sthese elements have been successfull widely ( customization by example) and mmorpg's need to be mmorpg's and not mmo action games or games where there is no community.

Mmo's need to advance. UO in it times was 10 years ahead. We got less so people accepted it and it get's lesser and lesser. The worst thing in this part is that people are accepting this. They accept dull quests like kill 10 monsters. These quests are big jokes, lazy and uncreative .

Quests are quests, not stupid kill x thing because i said it or a bear drops a sword and AI standing in a ride waiting for to be killed.

The list goes on. This generation accepts crappy simple game play and pays monthlee for that and when content comes. The developers just use rehashed textures of old monsters and content so it costs less money.

ps: Sorry for my bad english.

Open world RvR was done in DAOC like I said, it's a shame no other developer took the concept seriously. It's theirs and our loss. If you haven't tried it you are missing out. Considering 90% of the people here probably haven't played DAOC to any great depth, for all intents and purposes they might as well treat RvR as one of those innovations people are crying out for in the genre because it rocks.

Regarding the rest of your post, noone said War is the answer to every mmo players prayers or the revolutionary dream game come to save us all. This thread is just me recounting my own experience of the game as a jaded mmorpg player sick of the same old questing/leveling boredom fest.

I respect people opinions, if people like WAR , it's greate and more fun for them but i like to add saying that it doesn't make the genre better because this genre is unfortunately still in a ice age

Does the game provide any mechanics that help assist with this process? Or does it really rely (like most games) on the players ability to locate a good guild (or fight group) on their own accord.

Well, since my plan to make a "moron detector" to sterilize idiots at birth failed you may have to do some detective work yourself.

It's pretty obvious you should point the detector at yourself.  Since you failed completely to grasp the meaning of Kyleran's post.  Good job though trying to be a smart ass.  You get a "C" for effort.

I think the point he was trying to make is that its a bit much to ask for a game mechanic to help distinguish between groups that might have an idiot or two in them and groups that will succede. Just as unlikely is some magic button that will help you join the uber guild of your server. I think maybe a little common sense and intuition might be required in this situation.

Hence his joke about wishing he had an idiot detector to make this process a little bit simpler.

Got it? Get it? Good.

An E for comprehension.

This thread is a joke.

If people are burned out of the MMO genre WAR is the LAST game I would suggest they play.  It is nothing but the same stuff every other basic level/class MMO is offering.

It isn't horrible but it isn't that good either.  It's just another version of WoW.  I do like the fact that the graphics allow for as many players on screen as they do, it's nice to deal with lag.

But overall WAR is just more of the same.  If you are burned out of the MMO genre I suggest you wait for Darkfall or Fallen Earth, both will be very different from anything on the market right now.

Tecmo Bowl.

If you quested, grinded, gathered, crafted, etc but failed to pay proper attention to the other half of the game that is RvR then you have no place posting "it's the same old same old". If you only did those things that you are used to doing in all the other games then it's no wonder
