I am going to try the Waaagh later this weekend. (Have yet to try those little buggers and healing is my shtik) I guess Diablo kept people playing for quite some time and this seems to be well in line with that style of game only with RvR slightly more refined. But, I am not a person that just jumps in to smack-downs over and over and over. PvP needs to mean something even in a quasi-psuedo-RPG and I have not had that sence from this game. I think this game will fill a gap for the nintendo-turned-PC crowd... but like many have said, perhaps we need a new term for Massive Multiplayer Online Diablo, like this game, that makes it distinctive from MMORPGs... ... that is if my fears are not coming true and those have actually gone extinct. |

And I can agree with everyone that this was never going to be a sandbox game. I knew that while testing the game and yet I still purchased retail (I always do because it is the least I can do to support a title that I spent time with) That really isn't the issue. But does it have to be so MM0 i.e. Massively Monumentally Zero depth? I know that it has to be simple, basic and shallow so that the RvR can be played on low end machines.. { Mod Edit } |

Actually I do not think this is a true MMORPG honestly, maybe a new genre needs to be created. EQ, SWG, and even WoW were true MMORPGs. WoW might have dumbed things down but it still has the whole MMORPG feel. WAR again in my opinion is not in the true sense a MMORPG, it reminds more of Planetside in some respects. So to judge this as a MMORPG in a sandbox world is unfair and unrealistic. Maybe we can call them MMOGFs (gank fests) games I don't know but I do not see much of an RPG in here. That said I feel this game has issues, the GC is not necessary or too long, the server lag in mass PvP is horrid and this game will not run in mass RvR on min specs, I would even vouch to say a dual core 3+ megs of ram and a 8800GT or better as a min spec to run mass rvr. The spell animations are meh, character customization the same meh, but I heard it was done so each class had a different look in PvP so there is not a lot of difference say between chosen A and Chosen B. The PQs get repetitive by chapter 8 I wanted to pull my eyeballs out grinding for gear, since T2 RvR on my server was not huge so the PQs had the dope gear for now. Again to the OP a well written rant ans sadly you are on the mark but I don't think this game should be classified as a MMORPG. |

There are still a lot of active games that will give you what you are looking for. There are about 500 old threads you can dig up about how WoW ruined the genre by being so successful with such a casual and shallow game causing developers to follow in their footsteps that you could post on. I personally agree with the side that WoW hurt the genre more than it helped, but I miss the old days. Particularly when these forums were filled with excitement about launches and we discussed the games. |

If you try and discuss the cons of a game anymore you get decimated by the fanbois, I feel there are some very signifcant issues with WAR which I just posted but I know I will be flamed by fanbois. |

Yeah well before we discussed the good and bad in a constructive way. Ever since the game that shall not be named has come out it's extreme in both directions. I only remember seeing one or two well put together posts discussing the negatives of the game, and they have a lot of good discussion about it. |
