A Star Wars MMO. Yes you know it but your arragant attitude has made you think WoW would die by WAR...just isnt true. A New Star Wars MMO like a remake of Star Wars galaxies with Pre Combat Upgrade Features would be a serious contender.

KoToR is not going to be the SW MMO. That has been almost entirly confirmed.
As for MMOs always failing....Revolutionary would be a game where there are 10 ways to play....
WoW only has 2....PVP or PVE
War will only have mostly 1...RVR (PVP in disguise)
A Great game would be half as complex as Real Life but only the fun stuff....NO TAXES! A Game where you could just be a star fighter, Just a Stormtrooper, Just a Trader and you could be rich and Build lots of homes with 1 million ways to customize that home.... A StarShip captain where you get to go on Combat missions (instance Missions) and solo them with your Corrvette! That be sick if you could use your Wit and Own Stradegy to out smart the AI...
STARFLEET COMMAND got one thing right and that is the ship controls...now speed up that shop cause they went way to slow and make there be a ton more options...Diverting power to so and so...so forth. Complex Games are the Best types of Games.
But also allow there to be simple stupid stuff. hey I want to be a fighter pilot and go fight Imperials....k Go here and Go to a instance and become apart of Red Squadran and Attack the Death Star.... That be wicked,
GUYS and GALS. Pretty much what I am saying is combine all the star wars games you have played into ONE and you have the best MMO EVER. Force Commander. Jedi Knight MotS Tie Fighter XWing Galaxies....
Just WoW. and not that WoW....the non game WoW

The thing with wow is that it attracts, kids and adults, girls and boys and this is why it is so popular, War won't kill Wow, because its not the most female friendly and its definatly not really designed for kids now with its great big RvR etc. A star wars mmo won't be the one to do it either, mainly because its star wars, most kids won't know wat star wars is anymore, its not really 'girly', and only a few adults like the whole sci fi thing, so again its too niche to truely work. If you crossed hello kitty online with say war then you could be on to a winner, girls and boys attracted into one game, 2 sexes, 2 times the player base :D

That doesn't make any sense, how would a remake of SWG pre - cu be a serious contender to touch WoW? The CU was there BECAUSE the game couldn't compete with WoW in the first place. |

Better than SW would be Star Trek ! A place no one has gone before! A starship with each player having a role (party). new worlds to explore ...
MMMM I would play it no doubt. SW is too fantasy like. Give me the SF of ST:TNG And please !!!! no EVE. That's not a game, that's spreadsheet for handicapped persons sitting in their eternal chairs. I want to WALK on a planet. |

Yeah I agree, at this point there are WoW players, ex-swg players, and ultra-casual gamers who won't stick with anything more then a month. Something needs to happen soon, cause most of us are fronting as ultra-casual gamers and after a while we'll just give up on MMOs. Not that this means the next SW MMO will be anothing close to the old, but If it was some of the old mixed with some new it would pull the ex-swg vets out of WoW along with a few of their friends. We don't need it to come close to WoW, just do well enough to keep the devs from from thinking about screwing with it.

I dunno though- I really hope if it is a Star Wars MMO being developed that it isn't KotOR... I mean. Galaxies set itself in a new theme. Now it was just shortly after ANH- but the movies hadn't covered on that. They just skipped to ESB. Leaving gaps in between. I hope it goes after the KotOR yet before the movies started. Before luke. There's a HUGE gap there and it would give the developers a lot of room to stretch and work with. WAR however will definitely NOT break WoW... not that WoW is unbeatable.. but WAR IMHO is crap. I got into the open beta and uninstalled it the same day. It's just not my type of game I guess... but it certainly won't beat the fame WoW brought unto itself.
Maybe a Starcraft MMO would do as well with Blizzard behind the reigns.. since Blizzard seem to be MMO chiefs.

and for clarity. STOP saying WoW is the greatest game ever. It isn't. Its simplistic and casual. Most people get involved, get bored and then leave only to drift back because the tide showcases nothing else of interest. WoW is the king of mediocracy and arrived at the right time when there was a beginning dry-spell of MMOs, much like the one we're in now. Notice how there isn't this gigantic excitement for WotLK compared to BC? Thats because WoW has reached its' prime and has begun a spiral down. Not to say it will suddenly be canceled.. no.. but all MMOs have a life span; Hype -> Release - > Growth -> Sucess/Failure -> Prime -> Decline -> Drift -> Cancellation. Wow has JUST entered the Decline phase of its life cycle. Because of WoW's success it will likely stay in Decline for a very long time. Sub numbers will diminish and then grow some, dimish and stabalize. This will go on and on until it reaches Drift where the subs will primarily level out for good. Cult followers will remain with the game while the majority move onto the newer games. Eventually Blizzard will close the serversa nd shut the game down for good. However- How long until the cancellation date is unknown. Some games, created over ten years ago are still running. Others have lasted less than two.
Now- I'm not saying WoW is bad... or sucks... it's just an MMO.. it's not immortal in any sense.

I prefer to treat them as different kind of MMOs, even though they're all massive, multi-player and on-line. WoW is a masterpiece today, and it will still be looked upon as a masterpiece in the future. In fact, people avoid to pit two masterpieces against each other, especially when they're in fact not of the same flock. would you compare a noble physics winner with a biology winner? |

Who cares about how many people play a game. Its how good the game is that matters. WoW a masterpiece? Dont make me laugh. It's a dumbed down MMORPG with no new features. McDonalds and WoW......enough said. |
