Kinda funny really.  Hope it will continue to grow and be more and more populare when ppl realise its pretty polished and meaningful for longterm gameplay.   But for that to happen Mythic needs to keep throwing new things in all the time.

I'm looking forward to get some numbers when launch is a week, and then a few months behind us.

We can't exactly say that Mythic failed in advertising their game, nor in the way they implemented open/closed/preview gametime so far.  ^_^

It's not really that amazing for a game to have tons of people beta testing it, especially since any problems can be explained away with "it's beta".

Except you have to have preordered to beta test it right now...

It''s one thing to have a opinion, but enforcing one is unconstitutional.

I'm a MMORPGer, I buy and play all the games with at least one character to max level.  I can honestly tell you that WAR's release is the best release of any game since LOTRO.  Yes, there is SCN and PQ DC bug that reaches up DCing people about every 4 to 6 hours.  There is also a memory leak issue if you are on a lower end system.  Other than that, everything runs well.  Lag has yet to be an issue for me.  Loot is plentiful.  Gear isn't an issue.  You get XP regardless if you are PvPing or PvEing.  This is a win-win for PvEers and PvPers alike.  I highly recommend this game for anyone.

Fear not fanbois, we are not trolls, let's take off your tin foil hat and learn what VAPORWARE is:

"Vaporware is a term used to describe a software or hardware product that is announced by a developer well in advance of release, but which then fails to emerge after having well exceeded the period of development time that was initially claimed or would normally be expected for the development cycle of a similar product."

Beta test was over a while back, its on headstart which is pretty much release to whom pre-ordered the game.

Sorry Goldy you've proven over and over again that discussing almost anything with you is pointless.

This is a problem how?  Ever since the EQ days I've been preaching that they shouldn't let anyone in to closed beta either unless the testers work for the company or are paying for closed beta.  Too many free birds out there that refuse to pay to play any MMO and use beta to play games for free with no interest in helping the company improve the games.

i dont see how is this relevant at all.. its xfire.. thing that one from five.. if you lucky.. mostlikely 1 from 10 gamers.. or people who play games uses.. probably 1 from 50 in casual range.. and ye.. 6.4% is nowhere even near that 56% wow have.. pointless

You can either agree with me or be wrong!

9/17/08 10:01:36 AM#15

I have to agree Xfire is not the best representation of this. I've never used it, don't know anyone who does.

Not that i care about Xfire numbers but you start by pointing out that Xfire numbers dont matter, fair enough its your opinion, then you just finish by saying 6.4% is nowhere near the 56% of WoW, which is completely out of context, the thread clearly says second most played, poor troll attempt, try harder next time.

TBH Xfire isn't a realible source as i think the 2nd most played game (P2Pwise) must be runescape that has just over 1m members. Anyway i wish TR had those numbers. =(

Since I work for the US Government I can pretty conclusively say that Uncle Sam isn't interested in everyone's every move.  That would be a logistical nightmare to coordinate and evaluate that amount of information into a useful format.

However, if you are plotting treason or acts of terrorism, you could fully expect the US Government would be interested in following your activites.  A funny twist to my statement, as someone who works for the US Government, I am reading what is going on here, but I asure you it is not in a professional capacity, just as someone who is going to be playing Warhammer.

I hope this helps.

You are just like that other guy that said I wont play a game based on my opinion I'm playing based on yours. (I just used different words.)

Anyway ofcourse xfire is relevant, you can't expect a statistic be drawn out from 100% of the participants.

I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.

Wow, less than 7% and all of them playing for free. I think you're reading far too much into this to try to make an invalid point. Beta tests draw in the curious and the "tasters".  If WAR can maintain respectable numbers of paying customers after the first three months, then they can celebrate. Box sales mean very little since most of that revenue will be used to recoup investment.

Mythic has a lot more work to do before they can lay claim to being a contender.

Hmm...you might not be 2 yrs old but your response is along the line of a 2 yrs old haha. That link of Xfire wasn't to track what YOU do, it was tracking how WAR and other MMO games are doing concerning the popularity and populations. Doh. You don't even need to have Xfire to take a look at it. Double DOH.

1.5 million preorders shows that they are a contender(if only in the ability to sell preorders, heh). DAOC was an underdog game, yet stood it's ground against EQ. I don't see any reason why WAR won't stand. There are enough people playing mmo's with various tastes to keep just about any mmo alive. If they hold subscribers at the same rate daoc did(70% of box sales) then they will do just fine. Today's gamer is a little more fickle than those who picked up DAOC, so it maybe lower....hell it could be higher. WAR will remain in the second slot next to WoW. DAOC stayed second to EQ, WAR will stay second to WoW.

Hrmm my preorders and most people I know ( all 4 of them :P ) paid in full for the SE pre-order

I would like to state that in no way shape or form that anything I receive from SOE influences my opinion about SWG or their company. I’m pretty much a typical average player enjoying the game.

This game will be number two *north american mmo behind WOW, in my opinion.

Yes, there are things that could be better.  As time goes on, they can polish and add to the game where it comes up short.

Edit:  *North American
