Your argument is very flawed OP. You can only try WAR if you pay for it. There isn't a beta available. So everyone has the right to give their opinion about it because that's the only thing we can do with WAR unless we pay for the game, and that's not something a lot of people are willing to do. No demo, no respect, sorry. NEXT! |

Ummm, how can it be a breath of fresh air if it just copies WoW? Your statements are, like, contradictory and stuff. |

I see all the "I played for a few hours and think it feels like WoW" as a good thing. It means WAR has successfully filtered out the whiners. ------------------------------ |

You can't judge a game without playing it? I don't care for anal love. I haven't tried it, but I'm damn sure I wouldn't enjoy it! You can see vids on a game, here, in youtube and elsewhere, that will give you a good enough idea ofwhether you would like a game, or would be willing to give it a try. There are reviews of the games, starting from when they are in beta, all over the blogs and on gamesites like this one. As one person stated, I'm not shelling out a week plus worth of gasoline for a game unless I know I'll get at least some enjoyment out of it. The argument of not judging a game until you play it is bs. In this day and age, you can tell, before playing, whether a game is your thing or not. |

Only thing different from Wow is when you level up you get 1 skill every 1 level instead of 2 every 2 levels. Don't be terrorized! You're more likely to die of a car accident, drowning, fire, or murder! More people die every year from prescription drugs than terrorism LOL! |

So much for the polished and complete gaming experience that so many are raving. I'm sure (no, I know) that is not he only example. |

YES, there is an open beta, at least in EU (well it ended on saturday, lasted for 5 days) Im not saying WAR is s***t cause it looks like WoW, im saying it has the same WoW combat and design AND its boring and laggy (hope they fix that soon). WoW was good at its years, right now some fresh air is needed and any game is offering that to us, so it would be suitable to wait for next hits... did someone said Aion?... |

Most people do not spend the time to actually look at what is under the hood so to speak.
If they did they would understand there are at least 3 other MMORPGs that share more with WAR than WoW. And the stuff they share is more fundamental to the gameplay as well.
Eventually the various people who write guides and resources and make it their business to analyze the game for real to figure out what is actually truly performing well will put out enough information that it will get to the point that people who repeat this silly meme are just roundly called idiots by everyone.
It is already the case that there are tons of people using WoW to compare what classes should and should not do and various other things on boards dedicated to WAR. Eventually the serious forum warrior will get tired of it and make it vicsously obviously that basing question on WoW don't even make sense when the fundamental combat mechanics are different.
There is no such thing as an everlast grind em down until they are out of mana type class such as the old PvP Restoration Druids of WoW. The kind that could kill the OP shamans in a duel by grinding em down to 0 mana and staying alive until they coiuld kill with bear form.
The idea itself makes no sense in WAR. WAR does not work that way. People just haven't bothered to do the analysis yet.
But there is always a set of people who do eventually do the analysis and then most of that stuff becomes accepted knowledge.
It will take some time and a good bit of effort before people are disabused of their sterotypes and mental ruts.
And then they will all pretend as if no one was ever saying it was a WoW clone. Just like they pretend WoW had no problems at launch. |

Originally posted by Briansho ... and that you dont get different ranks of the same skill, but new skills that increase damage or healing based on your attributes. and that you can slot several tactics to change the way your character plays, to allow you to be effective in pvp and pve without having to respec. and that you can change how your character plays with tactics and morale skills, to capitalise on an area you enjoy. and that mastery points placed into a tree affect a load of skills, there is no such thing as a wasted point. and that all classes share action points which recharge very fast as opposed to mana which requires you to drink between fights, and if you run out... you're dead. i could go on for a while you know. |

I made several toons over the last week and the Scenarios were a riot! Absolutely loved them. LOved the choice of Classes and tried them all. Combat was great and very fast paced and enjoyable.
But the game engine isn't very good- in my opinion!! The system requirements are almost identical to LoTRO's and I can play in Very High settings in LoTRO and never lag. My machine far exceeds the minimum req. and I have slight stutters even in the lowest setting in War. I tried playing it on the "low" servers and at off hours and there will be hardly any other players around and it seems to be the engine for the game. It just isn't a optimized / strong game engine IMO. And the world graphics and character appearances and animations don't appeal to me- even in the highest settings. LoTRO's gorgeous graphics have just spoiled me. I won't be buying the game for me but I did buy it for my daughter. |

Much of the lag comes due to the fact that the game requires a lot of optimization that they just didn't get during the beta phases, and that the servers are pretty overwhealmed at launch. The second issue could potentially be solved either by adding more servers to reduce server stress and player population, or they could try to wait it out and expect the typical player falloff that is likely to occur. As for the graphics, it's definitely a matter of opinion on whether you like the style or not, but it is similar to WoW (or rather WoW is similar to WAR) in style. As far as quality, it appears as though they have rather low-resolution textures and lack the fine detail and quality of some of the other MMO's that have released in the last few years. Most notably would be LotRO, which has rather moderate system requirements but excellent textures, particularly on higher settings.

I guess OP means "Don't say anything negative about WAR until you played it" He doesn't seem too bothered by the people praising it before getting to experience it :P I've played it, will keep my judgement for later, since I played with no friends and that might have affected, now I'll play with a bunch of clannies so my experience might change. |

Okay, just tell them to put out a free trial so people who aren't rabid fans already can try it. |
