Also i bet this game gets completely overrun by bots/gold farmers and spam, just like the rest of the group.

First: being pissed off for not receiving access to CB doesn't give you the right to trash the game, especially since you haven't actually played it, so you don't know how good or bat it actually is.
Second: for someone who thinks this game is nothing special and will soon be bot infested, you spend way too much time in here. Take your grudge elsewhere, k?

I've played WoW for almost 2 years, and i have to say that this game looks very similar to WoW or looks like a copy when you see both, but Runes of Magic has so many things that WoW doesn't have, and i mean little details the game has and you only notice about them when you play the game which makes the game pretty good to be F2P.

It's for sure a must try for all the F2P mmo players, i've tried the chinese version "Radiant Arcana" (i advice you to try it out if you wanna check how the game feels like, registering is very easy) and i was "impressed" since the game feels nice, polished and worth it to try it imo. It has loads of quests, at least on the early lvls (i haven't played so much the chinese version, just enough to check out a bit about the game). You add stats which makes your char at least a bit more customized. Character customization is "decent" aswell, you can even put little/giant head which made me laugh.

Dual classes are a good feature, tho you can't level both at the same time, you have to go to a NPC and choose the class you want to be primary and that one will get the exp.

Definitely this F2P seems promising, but lets see how the high end looks like since i don't know if it will have any PvE raids and such, or just another mindless leveling F2P.

Those who didn't get into the CB and want to try it out...this is the chinese download page http://ra.moliyo.com/page/download.shtml

Btw, P2P are not that good and i've tried a few...they usually are less "grindfest" with a bit more high end, but anyway they cut the "lvling grind" to make you grind the same raid/dungeon or whatever for mindless months...so it's about the same. You don't raid alone but with your guild/friends, the same goes to F2P games...you don't have to be alone...otherwise i think choosing to play a mmorpg is a bad idea ;)

Regards.

I went to the link you'd provided to see if i can download the client...but problem is, I can't navigate around the chinese writings haha. So I have no ideas as to where or what to download! :(

Whats bout not accepting chinese IP's ? They have RA anyway...

im sure there will be something like that even im totally against splittin the world in mmos. i always loved to meet and play with ppl from all over the world. and believe me it wont even help to stop gold spammers. just look at the games like 2Moons/Dekaron. they have ip blocked asia but there are still a lot of  gold spammers

/Agree, RoM is fantastic MMORPG - Even by P2P standards, if the development continues in the direction it's going - The F2P market will have it's hands full competing with this Title.

It looks like wow,and of course this is a good thing because it's free, and wow is probably the best mmorpg out.

It seems to be the first f2p that will outrun p2p mmos.

It's looking promissing and somehow to good to be true, can't wait to enter beta to see myself how it feels.

I question this game. It looks as though someones stolen the SAME EXACT textures and graphics from WoW and just slapped another title on it with different character models.

Definitly NOT promising.

Not at all. What they did was come up with a universally accepted character models and made a better WOW. Get it right. This game I am looking forward to for a few reasons.
1. Global server battles. They are opening up a special server battle system where you instance into a gigantic map like in WOW such as Alterac Valley for example but bigger. Your job is to work with your server and defeat the other people to gain control of special craft nodes that only can be obtained from server battles. Once you got them you can mine and gather these special things to create magic your server will only get and special crafting components to make good things. This will be so much fun.
2. Guild vs Guild wars. Real Guild Wars that will be done like battle grounds in WOW. Except you will battle the other guilds Keep or guild fortress to gain control of it. Once you defeat the other side you are declared winner and will get special things off the other guild that they may have via the guild vault etc. This has so many possibilities because we all know guilds fight each other on who is the best, now they have to prove it or shut up.
3. Fluent character animations and more quests in a single area then any other MMORPG ever released. Over 600 quests in one area with major updates and content that will continue to come over the months the game is released.
4. FTP and item mall. Except they are not offering item malls to over power people who pay versus those who do not. The object is to provide simple and fun (FLUFF) to those people who want to pay the item mall.
5. The game is built around needing help from others. Almost forcing interactions with others to do things. One class needs another class and so on to do well. This is a great idea because most MMORPG's become very boring quickly when so many people want to be the LONER and not group on content. This will keep close ties with people and help interactions and provide large communities of people all working together to make PVP interactions a better part of the game. Versus games where you only participate with no meaning.

well this sums up alot about it...

And from someone who has not played WoW for 3+ years now this game feels nothign like it. it looks diffrent to me even theres the same ghpx style. it looks good.

And WoW was a clone of what was before it, New things will always try to copy the good points of older things...

The above post is all opinion and should not be taken as a sign that anyone else agrees with it.
Nor that the grammar and spelling involved will be up to your standards.

May contain nuts.

It has an art style I like (WoW-ish) and has player housing.

That's enough of a reason for me to try it.

I can understand how so many people are sick and tired of the free2play mmos that are all the same, no content... grind grind grind. So people see another game coming over and say, blah, another asian grinder, clone, waste of time etc. In this case you are mistaken.

I am in the closed beta, have been for some time now so although I can not break the NDA I can still discuss a few things as someone who has actually played the game.

First to people calling it a wow-clone. Get a clue! If theres one thing I can't stand is people talking like they are mmo vets because they jumped into the easiest mmo to play to date. Vets of the genre started with table top/mudds. Your generation raised on consoles is what ruined mmos imho.I won't bash wow, I had several 70s and am sitting with one 80 atm, but as many have said and will say... wow took many many things from UO/EQ1 and they admit to that. The RoM devs have openly expressed that wow was one of their biggest influences and I really don't think that its a bad thing. WoW wasn't the first of its kind, there are many reasons for its success, thats not the point of this thread... so seriously no need to compare/contrast every game to wow.  Now back on track...

As a free2play game, this game blows me away. I'll only talk about basic things because, meh  N  D  A

The character creation is very good, both at creation screen and customization throughout the game. The dual class system was implimented very very well. For looks, theres a couple features in game not listed or talked about on the site, so i'de be breaking the NDA if I mentioned exactly what they are and what you can do so all I can say is you'll be very happy with how much control you have over the appearence of your character. It won't be another game where everyone looks the same, thats for sure... better than any p2p i've played in that department.

Player housing is amazing... not something I'de ever expect from a f2p game. I can't give details, would love to, all I can say is this feature is really great and I wish some of my p2p games had it. Reminds me of the days spent decorating my pad in EQ2

Gathering/crafting - by far the best of any f2p game imo and surpasses MANY p2p games.

PvP- I can't discuss again really. The server vs server and guild wars look promising. PvP server is alot of fun but can't say more than that

Dungeons/Instances/Group Quest - already surpass other f2p games i've experienced and yea, still in closed beta

Content, content, and more content. Isn't that why we usually get discouraged with free2play games??? All there is to do is grind grind grind. Well, There is tons of stuff to do in this game between all the quest (TONS....TONS of quest) instances, gathering, crafting, working on your house, pvp.... I dunno, as someone whos been around the genre for longer than I should have been I just can't believe what this game has to offer... for free.

Im not saying this is the best game ever, but I am saying that as far as F2P games this game by FAR has the most content and features for the players to enjoy. If they have content updates as often as they say they will and their plans continue to add even more classes and races, this game will defiently be the new standard for f2p games. It really has it all. Its not as polished as some mainstream mmos, but again its closed beta.

Ignore people that just bash every game besides wow. This game truly delivers.

so the statements and questions above, promising....from a current player of the game, its already delivered a better experience than serveral recent p2p releases, without a doubt.

Many people will never try this game simply because its a free2play game. Many people will bash this game just because its a free2play game, even without ever trying it. All I can say is they are missing out. I simply love the genre. For myself mmorpgs in a fantasy setting is what I enjoy. To people who dismiss this game based on the simple fact its a f2p are missing out. The only thing that can ruin this game is if they alter drop/xp rates to force item mall purchases. Only time will tell.

Promising... YES

If you didn't make it into the closed beta checkout the videos here on mmorpg.com, open beta starts dec.9

Actually, gathering and crafting sucks at the moment. Unless they changed something in the new patch (downloading), this is definitely one of RoM's weak points. The grind is horrendous and the items you can make are not worth it at all.

I also hope you realize that some people who dislike RoM HAVE tried the game, and not all of them are WoW players.

Anyhow, RoM's not bad for a F2P, but for someone who has beens poiled by P2P polish for the past several years, it still needs a lot of work in my eyes. My biggest pet peeve at the moment is the overal choppiness of gameplay.

Edit: Wow, the patch has pretty much removed the movement lag I've been so frustrated about. It's awesome finally having smooth gameplay.
