So i started the open beta download last night.

It then tells me i have to wait 20 hours to download this unimaginably large zip file.

I leave my PC on all night, so it would download, come back, the next day at around 5pm, have about 7 hours to go, then all of a sudden. BAM! Firefox has an issue and needs to close.

I restart firefox and redo the previous sessions, and it turns out the whole download restarted, but this time at like 23 hours left for download time.

This is by far the worst open beta process i have ever been through. WARS open beta startup and download process makes Age of Conan's look like the Shire on a nice breezy cool day.
 

Hopefully the retail game will be handled much more appropriately.

A download manager program would have saved the file as it goes along and restarted your file where it left off..I do not believe Firefox does that..

There are loads of download manager addons for firefox.

I personally recommend Flashget.

Thats weird they must have done it today, cuz I couldn't log in at all yesterday and today is headstart for me.

To get the client with out using torrentor the torrent client, click here and goto the Gamershell downloader...

And yeah, its the headstart now for CEand SE purchasers this week, the Open Beta finished on Saturday

... why would they extend the open beta when the headstart for CE customers started 2 -3 days ago...

Er mate ... we are now officialy on the Head Start period , actually , we have been since last sunday ( the 14th ) . If you dont have a preorder HS code dont bother trying to log in at all . On the 18th its the live release .

That was for EU testers.

The 7 free days are for the people who had to deal with the GOA nightmare.  Those 7 days were supposed to transfer to ingame launch from wha tI remeber.  so basically you get 5 weeks free instead of just 4 month.  this is my understanding of the situation.

I still think thats a bs but I guess its to keep customers.   Its not like OB even mattered, everything you did got erased... and it was for actually testing the game not getting a free play.  People just need to take the cards they're delt and lived with it...  Its not like GOA really owes them anything, the beta was fucking free anyways for me it was..

Well mate , just hope you NEVER EVER get the same level of service from Mythic that the Europeans get from GOA , i was there for the Daoc fiasco , i was there for CB , i was there for OB , they never managed to nail one ( well , i lie , the SE release was rather uneventfull ) .

I havent and if I did I wouln't have asked for shit. I guess I just DGAF,   So what if I couldn't log in at OB, yeah GOA may have fucked up but hell shit happens and when a bunch of people complain it makes matters worse.  

Now if I didn't get to play my whole free month then I would take action. I just think the whole GOA thing was blown way outta porpotion. People have the whole "The costomer is always right" mentality in there head and that isn't always true.  Me working with customers in retail have showed me how a lot of people are just always out to get something free by bitching.

It's no larger then most current PC games, especially MMOs. They take up a lot of space simply because they have a vast amount of content.

EDIT: With files this large and with this much demand (since it's just about to "openly "release), you can expect it to be difficult to download. It's really just a matter of patience.
