I could list about 50 mmo developers that are worse than SOE. Actually SOE is in the top 5. So they pissed off a few people in a couple games. That's going to happen if you put yourself out there enough. The work they've done on EQ2 and AoC show that they can make a game better.

your tlking as if this is Dark and Light, its not. Its just par for the course for MMO's.

MSFT could easily buy Sony according to my brief check of Yahoo Finaance.  MSFT is a $235BB market cap compared to Sony at $35BB, so it's 6-7 times as large.  MSFT has $23BB in cash and marketable securities and NO long term debt.  So it could use some cash and borrow some to buy Sony, I would think.  Not that it would, but I think it could.

Funcom lied a little bit and made a bad game.Big deal.  SOE lied a LOT and turned a good game that people were playing, paying for, and loving, into a horrible game. Sorry, but there is no contest here. SOE wins the battle for the worst, hands down.

Market Cap is more an indicator of overall conifidence in the company by investors. Microsoft has a monopoly and therefore investors feel their money is safe there and are willing to pay higher prices for their stock yet they recieve lower returns. Much like a bond.

Total Cash (mrq): 21.17B
Total Cash Per Share (mrq): 2.319
Revenue Per Share (ttm): 6.477
Book Value Per Share (mrq): 3.965

Sony:

Total Cash (mrq): 6.16B

Things like Market cap formulas are what lead to the .com boom and bust in the 90's. The truth is that some companies are run to make their CEO money and others are run to make stock holders money. Sony and MSFT are on opposite sides in that outlook.

What does this tell you? It tells you that if Apple launched a takeover bid of MS the share prices for MS would plunge. It would be a scarey fall. However if MS did launch a takeover bid of Sony the share prices for Sony would probably triple overnight making it impossible in reality for MS to complete the takeover. However neither scenario is in anyway possible.

MS couldn't even do a hostile takeover of Yahoo. Yahoo isn't even close to Sony.

 SOE screwed up your game.  You played it for a while, payed for it, loved it, then most likely quit when they changed it. Funcom lied and got you to  pay for a game that was not at all what they said it was and you payed for it, but didn't enjoy it.

Funcom=worse

and some mmo's fail, SWG being one of them. All of SOE's other MMOs are great imo, except for the non-fantasy one, but, well, all non-fantasy MMOs except EVE dont even compare to fantasy MMOs. I dont like EVE, but some people do, and its the most successful scifi MMO ever.

Are you kidding? Are you forgetting the expansion pack they sold everyone 2, yes only 2 days before they announced the NGE, and 2 weeks before it actually went live? The expansion that was such a blatent form of Bait and Switch that they were forced to give refunds to avoid lawsuits? How about the people that bought 3 month, 6 month, or even year subscriptions(which cost way more what AoC cost) and had the game changed under their feet without a refund?

Funcom hyped up their game, and released an unfinished productwith some missing features. This isn't something new in the gaming industry, and unfortunately in MMO's it happens all the time.

While you paid $50 and were dissapointed, which could happen with any game you buy, I dumped hundreds of dollars in subscription costs and thousands of hours into a game and had it taken away from me.

Sorry, there is still no comparison, Sony wins hands down.

And just to clarify, in no way shape or form was SWG failing. It just wasn't succeeding *enough* in sony and Lucas eyes, which saw what WoW was doing. How many games have done what WoW did? None.

Actually, I would say that Fantasy doesn't compare to sci-fi at all. There haven't been very many sci-fi MMO's made, but imo two of the best MMO's I've ever played were both sci-fi, that is SWG and Eve.
