I'm currently downloading LotRO for the 7 days trial. Have been playing WoW since the start and was really looking forward to Warhammer. But after 10 days of playing, i was very disepointed... I know it's a PVP game even if it got tons of lore from the Warhammer universe so i have potential of beeing a good PVE. I just coulden't stand the horrible interface, the (imo) bad design and the boring quests. I hate the quests the most because most missions i played where so... I don't know, simple and it really doesn't feel like the developers have tried to make the quests feel fun at all. Just tried to make them a bit unique (failed). Like that cannon thing you can shoot in the biggining. Holy crap that sucked bad...
Anyways. I'm really hoping for LotRO. And please have a nice interface... (Why can't more MMOs have a interface like Lineage II. I have still not found any better. Simple and good looking.) |

You need to play WAR more than 10 minutes. Yes, there are scenarios and they are mostly capture the flag at low levels, but there are also open RvR areas where the battles are constant. It does take at least 30 min to get to the first one though; you might want to log in and look for it. |

I think Solareus was also getting at the fact you log in and pay to spend countless hours waiting before actually being able to do something. And i for one agree with Solareus when it comes to LotRo, the PvP system in that was and still is very good. I quit the game 6+ months ago due to the rest of the game being boring, but i spent a fair few hours in the Ettenmoors as a freep and say with all honesty that it's the best instanced PvP zone i've ever played. It's enthralling, it's Exciting, it's all out action and finally it kept me going and wanting more even though i usually hate PvP in any form. |

I agree that Solareus was implying that you have to spend countless hours waiting before you can do stuff. I was stating that he was absolutely incorrect. |

I did do the open RVR and it was just a gank fest pvp with capture the flag, for ME it just isn't as appealing as a game like Shadowbane or even Lineage 2. For me Lineage 2 is the best pvp game, a game that lets you kill at will but with consequences. War has no consequence for losing in pvp , you just respawn and I find that boring. There was no point in War when my character died and I said "omg" or "G.D. it !"
In lotrO a pve game, when my character dies I feel it, I say "m#@$ f@!$@$r" and "G.D. It" cause it is very intense to try and level from 1-20 with out dieing as well as getting into some of those big Chapter quests. War just lacks in any dynamic of creating a feeling between you and your character, there was just no connection.
Role playing is a big part of creating that , I'm Dural son of Aldural , Rider for the Rohirrim. Who are you in war ? |

Then this is what you should have said in your first post; I agree, I never developed an attachment to my WAR chars that I have with my LOTRO chars. And yes, the PvP is WAR is pretty much just a lot of killing back and forth at low level. At higher levels they do have keeps to defend and siege weapons from what I have heard, never got past level 13 in OB. But, you really can't claim that there is a lot of waiting around in WAR; there is NO waiting around in WAR, you log in and you start killing and you keep killing til you log out with very little time to relax. I was on the edge of my seat constantly trying to keep my kill to killed ratio high. I have no problem with people pointing out factual reasons why WAR doesn't appeal to them. But sooo many people on this forum seem to attack it for things that just don't acurately describe the game and I don't think it is fair to people who didn't get into OB to make false statements about it when they very well might like the game. It is definetly not for everyone, and I don't think it will draw many people from LOTRO. But if someone out there is an avid WoW player and is trying to decide between trying LOTRO and trying WAR; they probably will be happier with WAR. |

I'm a LotRO lifer who spent a year volunteering on the LotROVault, I did everything from quest writeups to ABCs. I love LotRO. But, I miss PvP and I will be subbing to WAR for the RvR. I do hope, as LotRO moves closes to the "war zone" that true PvP will be implemented (Just so I can stick to one game to provide me with PvE and PvP). |
