So servers open for CE preorders @ 4 am PDT to 60,000 people....
What do you guys expect from this launch? Smooth like LOTRO? Bloody Mess like Age of Conan/ World of Warcraft? Or somewhere in between....? |

Bloody mess like WoW? I was there on opening day and there were no problems. And it will be fine. |

Aoc what a waste of $50 mil |
Should be fine, a few bumps and growing pains but that is to be expected. Overall things have gone very smoothly so far in NA and the pace Mythic is adding and fixing things is very impressive. I was a bit worried in the first preview weekend but things are really coming together it would seem. The OB has has been very good compared to most games. Can't wait till Monday, might have to take a day off work lol. |

World of Warcraft's problem was that they did not anticipate such a huge influx of players and it took them time to sort thier servers out.
Mythic seem to have things in hand as far as that goes and have experience behind them from DAoC.
Regardless, do you think anyone who pre-ordered the CE is going to come storming onto the forums saying how terrible it is? I doubt it.
Also I'm sure there are more than 60,000 in the Open Beta right now and it's pretty stable most of the time.
I can't see that too much will go wrong and this launch certainly won't be labeled a disaster. |

I think if there were gonna be server problems we would have seen them by now I expect it to go the same way the open beta has been going just without the caps. Maybe a few new bugs or glitches but nothing major. Should be a great start as long as its on time. |

I expect it to be fairly smooth. It is a good thing that they are spreading out the games release over the week. The game needs some work but they have been doing a good job of addressing problems and responding to feedback so even if there are some problems hopefully they will be fixed quickly. I'm cautiously optomistic which is more than i could have said for most of the MMO's rolled out in the last 2 years. |

Yep, WoW's issue was that they simply never imagined they'd get the huge number of subscriptions that they did (no mmorpg up to that point had ever seen anything on that scale). I imagine that WAR has better contingencies if something similar happens. Also, it's a little easier to get your hands on raw server HP these days. |

Just gonna throw this out there because I don't want to make a thread about it. So pre-order CE early launch will be available to the people who put the key into their account? We won't need a retail key until when? Because I don't have my retail game yet since it hasn't shipped.
And I'm not sure about the launch. I have a feeling it won't be too bad or as bad as most MMOs in the past. |

Head start key and retail key are different. There will be a grace period after the 18th to give you time to pick up your box and put in the code. |
