I shall crosspost this a third time!  (If only because this thread could use some better reason than ASCII art)

After playing just about every major MMORPG since EverQuest, and a quite few minor ones, I'm a really picky gamer. Frankly. I'd rather have a root canal than play yet another EQ clone...

...World of Warcraft lasted me 4 weeks before that familiar feeling of tedium became too much...

...Age of Conan, despite being more innovative than WoW, 2 weeks...

... and yet...

I enjoyed the last few days of Warhammer Online beta enough to put down the full price om a pre-order. I'll be playing it.

I'd like to say, "My opinion trumps yours and I've the credentials to prove it," but you know, that'd be wrong because of one thing: not everybody has the same taste in games.

If Warhammer Online is not your taste in games, tough luck. Better luck next MMORPG.

Just want some clarification. Seems like a pretty narrow minded view.

I think what he's technically saying is,

"Back where I'm from, when somebody says something my peers disagree with, my peers have found the best approach is to feign silent exasperation like this.  With any luck, the person who is expressing their opinion will acknowledge they are being shunned and shut up.  Then we can stop dealing with the anxiety of trying to improve our lives and just go back to voting conservative.  I hope to one day be cool like my peers so I'm practicing on a message board."

But, you know, I'm a fan of the game so it's not like I'm actually supporting those who are flaming it.  I'm a little more sympathic in that I'll say that the game just didn't click with those people.  Sorry, not everybody's tastes in games are the same, better luck next time.

Get used to subjective opinions over a mmorpg.  This is mmorpg.com, and as such, we discuss each game's good and bad points.  That way when someone comes in they can see the different perspectives. 

So get used to it.  It has been done, will be done, and shall continue to be done regardless of your feelings either for or against the mmorpg.  With that said, personally I like the game.  I just am considering the long term viable aspects since unlike DAoC there is only two factions and what appears to be the devs inability to focus on RvR and instead try to relax PvE concerns.

When you take into consideration that the game has RR80, you have to wonder how PVE gear will stay up with RR gear.  The only way is to make PVE content at lvl 40 offer INSANE rewards, or keep RR gear up to and including RR80 low grade.  This then constitutes the question:  Do PVE players realize that it is either them or the RVR people?  This type of game, where RR is RVR based and will be the meat and potatoes, PVE just wont stand a chance.

So why is Mythic worried and balancing PVE gear and content at all?  Maybe to snag up PVE'ers with promises of long term content, but offer about a month or less, and do it as a huge "box sale" marketing objective in coordination with EA? 

Game should have had less work on PVE and more put into RVR because RVR is rather boring.  Its just not very interesting.  This game is darn fine fun, but open world RvR is just a bore and the same in all three regions in the "lake".  Senarios, tried all the regions as well, offer about the same.  I dont even care about the gear and just feel like I am doing reputation work.

There are plenty of us that if we were face to face and a game got brought up we would indeed say that it sucks if that is our opinion.  If you honestly think people stateing how they feel on the internet is acting big then you must hang around with ALOT of shy people.  I also do not see many posts like the one you tried to example.  I, in fact, see many more simple one sentence replies putting down people who make concrete calculated feedback that isnt positive than I see the other way around.

Besides.. if you enjoy the game so much why do you care what someone says on the forums?  Wont you be too busy defending your keep in the game to worry about what some stranger said on mmorpg.com about the game?  Or do you require acceptence of your own personal preferences and any of the opposite is the same as someone shooting your dog?

In the past I have used the whole vent about the game because I thought it sucked, but looking at these forums you see that someone starts a post and then someone says something against the game in question and from there its all downhill, basically a massive bitch fest. So these days I do not say  game sucks if i did not like it, I state my dislikes with the game and leave it at that. And even though it has nothing to do with you, myself and the majority of my friends are outgoing people.

If someone has an opinion, Im happy to read about it. But not if its in caps and has no point other than to bash the game. I don't care at all if someone else dosn't like the same game i do, its their own preference.. I'm just saying CAPS flame fests are pointless..

Nothing about having a go against you at all.  Just being subjective. 

Listen.  I think back to the days of EQ, DAoC, and AC.  Each offered something unique to the playerbase.  I have sadly seen however each of the "new venture" mmorpgs of these original three fail.  We have seen EQ2 and Vanguard, while very viable, suffer horrid outcomes due to the devs not realizing WHY people were so hyped.  AC2 was actually shut down.  Now we have warhammer, which isnt a direct sequal to DAoC, but it is a supposed advancement in their forte of RVR.

I do agree that some complain and give no good reason.  However I also am seeing people on both sides, who do, get frustrated because when they put forth the effort they are often blasted for it regardless of the merit of the opinion. 

Personally..I am, as i said, worried about long term viability.  I have put alot of hours into my BW in OB to test out the game.  I have done the senarios, hit 21 rank, 20 RR, and did a 4 hour open RVR in troll country.  I have done the ballistics, the ramming of the door, and the push and pull of the RVR.  I enjoyed it alot.  However I feel that they could have put more fun in the RVR by variety.  I will still buy it and play it, because i like to see all the game has to offer before i say my final opinion.  I just personally feel that the game could have been much better in content, IF they had focused on whats important.  RVR.

Because PVE retention is just going to be horrid in this game unless they take effort away from the RVR.  Since RVR is SO important on the population aspects, I dont want RVR players to not play when we NEED them in light of a few months of keeping some PVE exploits happy and content, who will leave eventually.

Basically he is saying, "if you annoy the shit out of the general population, please unplug the internet." , I happen to agree with this sentiment.  Though it is pleaded in vain.
