this is my sig--------> You will see others with it as it is the best sig ever, but tis mine. |
I used to play AoC. I played for like 12 days and hastily left, wishing funcom would go bankrupt. I posted as such on the official boards and was laughed at all the way to the door. "lol, like they will go bankrupt noob" they said" go back to wow idiot " they screamed . And my favorate " you won't be missed, just leave". Now I find myself sad though. I have this great gaming computer I built to run AoC in all of it's dx10 glory. Now , it seems pointless. Without AoC dropping me to 20 fps ,crashing me to desktop, chewing my memory up and locking up my pc, how do i know my pc is really working? I mean, all of these other games like crysis, warhammer, tf2 etc at max settings never even bog my system down to the point of failure. It makes me sad. I need AoC to grind my comp to a screeching halt to let me know that it is really working it's ass off. I mean, I spent 1000 plus on it to build it . Let it work for its keep. P.S funcom stock at 9 bucks. Was at around 40 I believe when everyone told me I was nuts on the bankruptcy note.

But at least the pc runs Warhammer smooth and it doesnt crash or have the wonderful OOM errors and it can use my quad core with crashing unlike AOC. And I feel the $9 a share is some payback for the screwing Failcom gave the community. |

Lotta effort there, choose fanbois that will work for free and give them moderator status on the forums, voila, forum nazis that work for free!!! Schweet -Lum |

Sigh, the good old days of aoc.
Did i mention stocks at 9 bucks a share? "we won't miss you". /giggle

If your after a game that will tax even your Computer get a hold of a copy of Supreme Commander : Forged Alliance.
Then do a skirmish battle on one of the BIG maps against 7 CPU opponents. Another great example of Moore's Law. Give people access to that much space (developers and users alike) and they'll find uses for it that you can never imagine. "640K ought to be enough for anybody" - Bill Gates 1981 |

Actually , you might want to give it another chance, im still subscribed to AoC , and all i can say, at least the client stability and performance has been greatly improved since Early Start(and CBeta in which i participated)..plus there is the PvP patch coming out on tuesday, in 4 days ,and more PvE content by Chrismass time DX10 and more PvE( lvl 80 open dungeon, one new region lvl 50-60, and faction area in tarantia(tarantia commons-new area), where u will need to ally with one of the sides in war)... PvE endgame content its improving(they are debugging the bosses), currently they slowed pace with tier 2 bosses making them hard, so people cant advance so fast... PvP endgame content its improved, they fixed sieges, and participating in it you get stabile 28-35 fps on an average machine ATI3800 series....
The class balance its one of the things that its still not sorted in the game unfortunatelly...

The AoC engine is fubar. How people manage to experience seige warfare without dropping to 10 fps bewilders me. I'm not sure where I read this, I almost want to say it was in the official forum and was posted by a dev or maybe it was common knowledge at the time (before I quit) but it was recommended for everyone experiencing graphic hitching to max settings for better performance. What? It should be the opposite. Lower settings for better performance. Yep, total fubar engine although I've been told peformance has been improved. I suppose many people hating war will appreciate it more once they return to AoC and remember how much better war performed on their pcs. Message to funcom: performance is greater than gameplay (how can you enjoy the game if it performs awful?) and gameplay is greater than eye candy. To appease the 360 and ps3 generation and whining video card manufacturers funcom chose eye candy over everything. |

Starts strong, but quickly shows itself as derviative, soulless, and uninspired. While pretty on the outside, it ultimately is as charming as the cardboard tube inside a roll of toilet paper. I should probably mention the client crashes, even still after months since its release. In terms of entertainment, I would rather gargle, then slowly swallow little bits of broken glass then play this game again. Comparing it to other games, I would say it's a bit inferior to playing tic-tac-toe. Solitary tic-tac-toe, that is. |

A week and a half in game, months on end trolling the forums. Think most reviews have pretty much got it right with the C+ to B- reviews. Game is decent, better than some, not everyones cup of tea though. Tbh I never really even thought of leaving WoW for it when they started prophecising WoW's demise to it and Warhammer a couple years ago. (who really thought anything other than WoW could kill WoW anyways?) Then after burning out on WoW's raiding and it's one and only big pvp experience (40v40 AV: Advanced Lemmings Adventure) gave AoC a shot. Doubt it will hold me long as long as FFXI or WoW did, but we'll see. Still enjoying it thus far. Total War: Empires comes out in a few months(4 or 5), always been a huge Total War fan. Probabley just AoC it up till the then. |

AoC had such potential, it really did. Great IP. Great game environment. Funcom simply failed to deliver on such promise. Funcom clearly lacks innovation at the leadership level. It's blatantly obvious. I enjoyed AoC for about a week and then the failures became constant and glaring. AoC has no risk. You never feel threatened, your heart never races. it is empty and soulless. It is everything that MMO's should strive not to be. Funcom built this game for idiots. It is designed for those who need their hands held from the first level to the last. As a Dark Templar, I never had a purpose or a niche. As a Barbarian I just swung and killed. Empty. Where are the drunken brawls? Where is DX10? Why are seiges won with points? How many wars in history, especially between barbaric nations, were won with points? Funcom ruined the perfect MMO IP. They really did. Tecmo Bowl. |

Lol, 20 FPS on your hot game computer? Ill do 45-65 on high with my old overclocked 2,4 quad depending on the population. A non troll thread is suppose to have some kind of point not just I'm glad I'm not playing the same game as you... Taste differs a lot but that's not really a good reason to constantly make whining threads in a forum to games you don't like. Or is the truth that you and your friends are playing this game: www.criticalmiss.com/issue9/troll1.html |

Sorry, i'm kicked back in my lazy boy as we speak.
btw, there's more to getting a program to run than a graphics card.
I am running on high. All shadows, grass, and water reflections are turned off though. And crowded zones bring me to the 10-15 range on the rare occassion. Normally kicking betwenn 25 and 45 though. |
