That isn't the only reason to stay away, the game is a borefest WoW clone.  STAY AWAY.

I've a beta key for WAR, and I'd give it a go if I could. I can't log in to the game, neither can I query my password - I might have got it wrong, but there's no way to tell. I can't check or reset my password anywhere. In fact, there's no way to tell if I've even got an account.

I'd check on the official site, but they don't seem to have anything more than a marketing cover up there.

It looks to me like their management team have set things up to keep the players as far away from any kind of support as they can. I know that's not a fair way to judge a game - the devs might have done a great job, but I'm never going to know.

If you sub to a game, you're putting months, if not years, of cash into a gaming experience. This looks like one of those Vanguard-style if it works you're fine, if it doesn't, fuck you sort of schemes.

Player support is important. This game doesn't appear to have any.

My suggestion : Stay the hell away from this for a year or two until the devs have ironed out the major problems, and see if it's still around. I'm not convinced it will be.

Hmm..

Well considering most people have gotten in, it doesn't seem like a complete failure.

I mean if you were smart enough to keep your code somewhere safe, like they had advised, and not forgotten your password.

You can't blame your own problems on someone else.

Also, just because you cnanot get into the game, doesn't mean people should stay away from this game, they are using the same account management website as they have used for all their games, like DAoC, so it has been tested, also there are no major problems to speak of, the game has a few minor bugs that crept in last patch, that they will have ironed out for launch.

Have fun missing out.

I agree totally. WARcrasher as i have dubbed this debacle, doesnt even run stable on my new machine. I experienced 10 crash to desktops and one requiring a FULL REBOOT. This crap is sad from Mythic.

Also the numerous animation glitches and constant PvP lag make the game unplayable. Stay clear people, maybe try AoC if your looking for a fun game.

9/10 times, people don't know how to fully build their PC's or gaming rig's, which leads to:

"AH this game sucks because it crashes my system all the time :(((( "

Look, if it works relatively well on 7899545363 machines, and like 1% of them it does not, then we simply chalk that up to poorly configured rig's (i.e. hardware discrempancies, hardware conflicts, driver issues, etc) or defective hardware.

mrroboto40:

Reasonable assumption, most of the time when something doesn't work it' *is* something stupid I've done. However, I clearly remember both passwords I used for the master account and game account I set up (can't remember which one was for which though, but they don't work either way round :), and I've tried resetting them online too.

Still no joy.

Lorenz0's right, the few % that always fails is generally down to bad config. In this case though, it's not that the game doesn't work, it's the account management.

Anyway, it sounds like the majority of players are getting in fine. My first post was slightly flamish*.and for that I apologise. You know what it's like when you have a beta key and you can't use it, especially when you're sick of $MMO and you really want a new one.

Hope you're all having fun in there. I'm not bitter in the slightest. I take solace in the fact that while you're all spending time in WAR, I'll be laying waste to hitherto unknown names in the next gen MMO and I'll be there and l33t before you arrive. :P

Funny how AoC runs perfectly on MAX settings. Sounds like bad coding?  with only days left from retail release, good luck everyone trying it out. As i have mentioned before i've have canceled my WAR pre-order based on my beta experience.

I call BS again. You never pre-ordered the game at all. And saying AOC runs better on max settings isn't saying much because there is bad coding in it that allows you to run it better on max settings. Search the AOC forums here and you will find it. I ran it much better on max than I did low. Now that is bad coding!
