i am from a 3rd world country where bandwidth is as rare as a flawless pink diamond. and im wondering, wth is with these mmo's with very large file sizes? i mean, it used to be that a mmo with a 700mb download size was already considered a large download, now everything seems to start at 2gb+ (even 2d games like magic world online is at 2gb+). but there are some exceptions like metin2 which is surprising because its already a 3d game and it only requires a download of less than 1gb (and its not the ugliest 3d game out there too) and there's warrior epic of which the tech of their download process baffles me (it basically is a no download game).

do all of these huge file sizes in mmo's really mean content and gameplay? or it's just there to make your hero's hair flow like the wind, make the trees shine like silk etc?

(my recent download was perfect world which is at 2.3gb, it took only about 12 hours LOL)

Most of file size goes in texture quality. So yes, it only goes in "shiny" things.

Look a good test to see if you are third world.. if you sitll have to trek 3 miles to get clean water. Japan is the most technologically advance country i the world, there is no way in hell they would be concidered third world.

They are ranked in the order the European explorers discovered them not on their economical situation.

But most countries in the 3rd world are undeveloped.

That statement, by far, is the stupidest thing I have ever read. Do yourself a favor, when you get to High School tomorrow ask your History teacher what "Third World" means. My God you could of Googled it also!

It seriously all goes to the graphics of the game.   Other stuff like the actual code that runs the game, setting files, and other stuff are actually very small since they're pretty much just plain text no matter how encrypted they are.

 Actually voice overs require a lot of space so the more voice bits the larger.
