i feel sorry for the people who cancelled their pre oreder claiming the game was too easy. ALL MMOs ARE EASY IN THE BEGINING! I only died like once or twice in WOW reaching level 9, same with LOTRO. TIER ONE is a starting zone, i am still getting help/tutorial prompts in tier 2. the game gets alot harder. you are going to get your ass handed to you when you get to higher level content/combat. people who dont have the patience to get to higher more difficult levels need to stick to console games and stay off this board. The game is just as easy/hard as any mmo out on the market.

Personally, I feel it's been taking longer than normal to level during the first levels compared to other games.  I know in WoW, you are level 5 after doing a few quests and killing some mobs; usually within the first half hour or so.  That's one thing in particular I noticed when playing WAR.

yeah it takes about twice as long, which is about right. 40 levels in WAR, 70 levels in WOW. I dont want to be level 40 in one week so it's a good thing.

It also has twenty fewer levels than WoW, and useful, meaningful skills at basically every level rather than Rank 2, Rank 3, Rank 4, and Rank 5 of whatever you happen to get interspersed throughout the 60, like WoW.  A new, real skill every level, plus Renown Ranks being usable to focus your character more where you want it to be.  The leveling is slightly slower, but if you're RvRing, you're leveling both Renown and standard ranks at once, and each gives you something meaningful, be it new tiers of available gear or new skills that are really useful for something.

Confess! is fucking interesting as Hell; I love parrying and then stealing a Black Orc's big choppa for five seconds on end and stabbing him all up while he's punching me.  Most of the skills in this game have actual mechanics attached, and really cool design decisions made; you don't get Fireball and Pyroblast, which just does more damage with a longer cast time; you get Fireball and Fissure, and Fissure does some interesting new shit instead of just being another damaging spell, like adding a Hex which can then be taken advantage of by other abilities.  It inspires the creation of different paths of opportunity and usage for different situations and it makes combat much more interesting... and gives you something to think about.

Go ahead.  Spam fireballs on a Brightwizard.  I'll see you at the nearest chapter area, buying off your death penalty.

As for being 40 in a week... you can grind up to stuff pretty fast.  The folks who WANT to powerlevel are going to DO it.

The thing about the 40 levels is they're bolstered by 80 Renown ranks, which have a separate skill tree and an advancement system all on their own.  Throughout your 40 levels, you will eventually gain 25 Mastery points to put into your skill trees.  Each tree has 15 points, which means you can grab one and two-thirds.

When you're Renown Rank 80, you'll have gained four more, which means you can -almost- max two trees, only missing out on the big Morale ability at the very top.

Or you can dabble in a second.

There are a lot of options, and most of them are quite viable, especially with how the (not obvious) skill trains you have to figure out interact with one another; often, one spell will be bolstered by a skill from another discipline, which means you have to decide where to put your emphasis.  I really like the Absolution skill; direct damage, that's great.  Unfortunately, maxing that skill will leave Razor Strike, which is on another path, underpowered.  So I balance them out, or I decide to use Torment instead, which has whole -new- mechanics.

It's all quite interesting to design junkies. >_>;

I have to say that I think it takes much, much longer to level 1-10 in WAR than EQ2, WoW, LotRO, or DAoC.

In addition there is a LOT more to do 1-10 than in all those games combined.

* Getting the full rewards for the first two Public Quests.
* Getting all the Influence rewards.
* Doing the Scenarios, getting Renown rewards.
* Farming Kills, filling out Tome Discoveries.

And that's if you don't go to the other Race's on your side's starting areas.

Of course, you could just skip all the content and PL.
But, then why bother playing at all.

Quite frankly, those that want a REALLY slow leveling game should just go play EVE.  That is a fine game, and it will take years to get to max 'Level' (Ya, I know EVE has no Levels, but you all know what I mean).

Good Hunting

First off I agree with your post, but I'm just correcting a little bit of misinformation. It takes 15 points to max out the passive benefits of the tree, but you can invest a total of about 22 points per tree. When the bar reaches an ability on the mastery, that does not mean the ability is trained. You have to spend an additional point to learn the ability/tactic when it becomes available for training on the mastery path.

My problem wasn't leveling speed but everything is too easy I could just run into groups of mobs even at level 31 and solo everything and never fear death.... no real group PVE content too and public quests are just mass solo content.

lol at hardcore players... you make me laugh so much, "Game is to Easy", this is not 1990's where MMO's were all about leveling, now we actually have an End Game content, in this case would be RvR, what is the most awesome thing of this? is that the difficulty depends on the community.

Go level RR and see how easy that is rofl.

The PVE in WAR wasn't meant to be breathtaking or hard. The game's focus is PVP so if you figured PVE is easy, you now know why. Getting to renown 80, hell even 15 takes quite a long time.

Taking along time to lvl builds community and brings player friendships closer. just wish WAR would make it 35+ to rvr so the game lasting relationships had time to build

Its really sad that after so many years in development they could barely get 40 levels worth of content in. AOC has 80 levels so already a big strike against WAR.

I hope everyone understands that there are 40 pve levels and 80 pvp levels, for a total of 120 levels to achieve. Plus your guild also levels up, so lots of development fun.

It's gonna take a bit of time to hit 40 Rank. But it'll probably take double the time or more to hit 80 RR. It's gonna take a while to cap your guy.
