On the same note when will the beta be ready to start?

No one knows. Aventurine dev has stated a goal of release in december and their publishing partner has written about beta in october.

I wasn't aware of those dates as being discussed. Do you have a linky to articles you could post on it. Didn't realise anything concrete was set.....

First of all, october 2008, isn't a date.

The Darkfall devs maintain "2008" for release. Therefore given they are taking beta apps now, it would make sense that beta is likely to happen in October. They have also said the beta is expected to be more of a play test than a standard "beta" test, and they expect it to last "several weeks".

Note that it has been said in the official forums that a release to North America may not happen simultaneously, therefore those of us who live there are likely to be waiting until early 2009 to get our hands on it. Unless of course, they give me a way to buy it and play on the Euro servers for starters...

I think Tasos said something about allowing americans on the european server. I tested out WAR on american servers with pretty decent responsetime. I guess the other way around will work ok as well.

Yes, Tasos said in the latest update (the latest one about the game itself and not the Beta updates) that there would be no IP blocks so everyone could play on the Euro servers during Beta and release if it happens there first. From what has been said on the DF forums it does seem very likely that a Euro release will happen first as they already have a publisher there and they don't for NA yet.
