Well atleast Darkfall has managed to create a army of clueless fanboys who will worship the game even if it was delivered inside a ****.Fact that most of you havent even seen how the UI looks is proof enough of how far gone this game is.

 I actualy was hyped and couldnt wait for DK to come out,that was 2-3 years ago,ive realised it's vaporware soo I dont bother anymore.

it has nothing to do with over hyping, people see something they like and want to talk about it, its nature. As you are not that impressed you give you're 10 cents worth, but you are still talking about it...

Do you mean "Hype" in the normal sense, or are you talking about what's happened to the MMORPG.com hypemeter in the past week?

Also, I thought Beta signup and the video killed all you vaportrolls?

I am very much looking forward to DF..  however I will say this, beta signup and a video are NOT proof of anything, look at Gods and Heroes..... 

I am not a vaportroll I truely hope DF comes out but to say here is the proof is way way way jumping the gun..  proof, the only proof is on the Launch of the game and Not before..

Lets just keep our fimgers crossed DF makes it as it looks sooo much fun

Darkfall is way, way, underhyped.

Warhammer though is hyped way to high, just like Age of Conan was.

  That's not even close to being true.

Just wait. It's only been a week since the video released. Once October rolls around these forums, and the hype meter, will go crazy.

I recently made the mistake getting myself hyped about AoC, then wishing I could retrieve the time wasted afterwards.

So I'm in 2 minds about Darkfall .

One part of me is seeing potentially great things that other games did wrong, while the other part is worrying that something else will turn up wrong, and I will find myself waiting for yet another game to come and do it right.......and the cycle goes on forever.

At least I have quite a selection of potential games lined up over the next year or so, hopefully I will find what I'm looking for.

Darkfall,Earthrise,Aion,Lineage3 all promising PvP , hopefully at least one of them delivers

Overhyped?  If anything it is underhyped.  If you take a look at the "most popular" tab it has been one of the most visited section of this site since the video released.

And we havent seen the UI...well even the slightest bit of research will prove you wrong on that one.

Gotta love these threads...every one of them just shows the community how good DF is.   If they just didnt have interest in the game, they wouldnt bother posting.  But they see all these people who feel bitter, scared, or offended by the game and it creates buzz around it.  1/2 of them will be playing the game anyways and have already signed up for beta.

Threads like this usually make me sad and not in the "Oh my goddess, another guy who doesn't like the game I like" way, but in the "Damn, this guy must have some real emotional problems... how awful" way.

I mean seriously? If after the video and the beta signup you -still- doubt DF actually EXISTS(whether it will rock or not is still up to you) that just screams that you've been majorly buttraped by previous games and are afraid to ever put trust in a game again.
Because the bad men might hurt you... and you couldn't handle that, amiright?

At least these guys will -finally- be gone once the beta really starts off, although I'm a little less sure about that with every passing day.

See DF has opened so many eyes that it has even brought a 1 year lurker out to make a post =)

edit: nvm found it...cant believe i havent come across it before.  comedy gold.

 Actually, I'm a very active forumfaller(even used to be a community manager at one point) and I just made an account here a year ago or so because I generally never visit a forum without making an account, even if I just intend to lurk after that :p

It gives a better representation of the amount of people looking at the forums that way.

Actually Unahim used to be community staff on the Official darkfall forums. He just chose to not post here while this place was full of trolls, like many of us. It seems to have improved at least some now ;)

Right now the naysayers who claim that the game doesn't exist or will never come out are like King Canute figures, vainly attempting to hold back the tide of enthusiastic fans stoked about the impending beta and inevitable release.

Actually Unahim used to be community staff on the Official darkfall forums. He just chose to not post here while this place was full of trolls, like many of us. It seems to have improved at least some now ;)

Awsome...The forum has definitely come a long way in the last few weeks and is actually a place for legit discussion most of the time.

Your ignorance is your downfall. If you took less than a minute to browse some of the pictures on Darkfall's site you'd notice there are several screens with the UI visible. At least DF is being hyped by fans, and not by the publisher.

I think that speaks worlds for the game when compared to AoC and WAR "hype"-wise.

Quibbling aside of what is hoped for, the Hype system is something any large group or even a small dedicated group of forum goers can build up.

The trick however is not just to only talk about hopes and dislikes of a game, but to provide an essential environment for other like minded (and sometimes annoying) gamers to talk with each other and try to work out how exactly things are going with a game and how their suggestions can be made strongly enough that it will sway the developers in a positive manner.

In providing a seemingly negative comment about the game, all you have done is given a voice to all the hopeful long-time gamers a chance to speak their minds and hope the developers know what they have gotten themselves into.

It's not to say I for one don't hope they let us down in DF. But even the idea of a game being able to distinctly stand out from the rest is a very thrilling idea. One I will gladly put down money on once I know for certain it's the real deal.

So, don't give up just yet. Yes you've waited a long time as have the developers to bring this game to reality. Maybe you feel you are owed something for having waited so long for a chance to play and feel dejected that you won't get picked for Closed Beta.

I can certainly understand your point of view under your circumstances, but think about this.

Do you have any idea how difficult it is for people like the dev's, who are also avid gamers by their own testemony, to finally be able to lay out a game they have spent countless months building? Or the endless amount of hours preparing, designing and no doubt arguing over a score of details on every stage of the process involved in making this game? Their hopes, fears and pride over designing a game that has such potential to be what we all hope it will?

You simply can't ignore these questions, they are so essential to the work they've been doing. All I want to do is get a chance to play like the rest and congratulate them when I get the chance. Even if it flops, you have to admit what they are doing is no small feat.

So, stick it out just a bit longer. I hope your expectations are met and relief comes flooding into you like a tidal wave. 

The biggest problem with all these threads is that it's always "fanboi" vs "troll". I can't say I'm a fanboi cause I won't use the arguement "but it's awesome!" (since I haven't played the game yet), but I do believe that if the developers give what they mentioned then it'll be a great game. I do say I'm against the trolls though. Right now Darkfall has very little chance of being vaporware. About as much chance as any other game that's not currently in open beta. The thing that lowers the chances even further is that an open beta timeframe is out there.

According to what's promised in the gameplay we'll have a huge sandbox world with full pvp, full loot system, crafting, manual fps-style targetting, and tons of skills and spells. Is that all true? Well, they've put out a video that touches on some of that plus stuff that was only slightly mentioned, like navel combat, mounted combat (which includes the ability to kill the mounts to dismount the opponent), as well as more. All of that does seem really interesting to me, since I've played many MMOs ranging from UO to SWG to SB to L2 to WoW. I've been lookin' with a game that has open gameplay like the before mentioned.

As to the hypemeter and even the overall hype of the game; hype is exactly what I've been saying. It's what people believe as to how the game will fare. I believe that DFO will be a successful game, which is why my hype goes to it. I don't see why anyone would have a problem with me saying all of that, as well as lots of other people to give it a good score on the hypemeter.

Compared to games like AoC, Vanguard and WAR that received tons of praise from outside sources and gaming sites, DFO has relied on its community to hype it.

In that sense, how can it be "over-hyped"?  The only people who are doing any hyping are those actually interested in the game, not third parties who have advertising agreements and the like.
