Open RvR happens when someone is flagged for RvR in the open PvE world, or in the specified RvR areas in each tier.
See I've got so much to learn. Ok, I know about party quests, questing solo, and the only PVP I know of AT THE MOMENT that I've done is RVR which is clicking and joining and taking over the 3 locations....which is the battlegrounds I assume...
I know there are sieges but that's for later on...and I head there are areas where you can take over towns/castles and burn them down and crap...but I don't know where or what the hell it is. I wonder how "instances" are on here, which I think are dungeons right? and what about open world pvp? no? isn't that what rvr is to some extent? maybe I don't understand the damn rvr system...just too much to remember all at once, it'll come to me haha....probably all becomes very simple within the week of actually playing those areas of the game. |

And you prefer waiting? I'll take skill spamming any day. However, it's only "skill spamming" (as in the mindless smashing of buttons on your keyboard) when you don't know what you're doing. As an IB, I have to pay very close attention to my surroundings and my target, constantly adjusting what skills I chose. There is absolutely nothing mindless about it. However, I would like to know what the alternative to this play style in a standard controls game (WASD movement, hotbar, etc.) is. |

I think they need to tweak their server preformance, but other than that a great game. My title is "Ow My Eyes!" you get that from clicking on your self over 100 times (dont ask how i ended up clicking myself that much) |

There are two types of PvP both of which are considered RvR (Just a fancy name for PvP which delineates between random PKing and faction-like war). 1) Scenarios. Which are instanced (meaning seperate from the game world - loading screen, blocked off map,) battlegrounds with specific objectives and a time limit. 2) Open RvR. Which is limited to a specific area within each tier (the area circled in orange on your main map). The RvR areas have batlefield objectives which a realm can take over, and the later tiers also have keeps to siege. You can also RvR in the PvE areas IF someone is flagged for RvR and thus open to attack.
By winning a lot of scenarios and taking over the battlefield objectives in the RvR area, you can secure the entire zone for your realm, which contributes to the overall WAR effort to attack the enemy realm's capital city. |

Aw that's cool. Thanks for the explanation. |

Still beta, but some issues that I hope they can improve on before release. One is that mobs become unattackable a lot. The AI seems to get confused easily with LoS issues and terrain. I see no reason why they won't be able to fix these things, but can it be done in a couple weeks? I like the concept of public quests, but there was one issue I noticed... nukers end up doing less DPS often than other classes. This is because their cast times are longer than the time it takes the group to kill most mobs before the bosses. Classes that get in 2 or 3 fast attacks per mob do better on average than a class that only lands one hit per 2 or 3 mobs. This is compounded by the AI LoS and invulnerability issues above. Since most nukes won't land until the mobs are almost dead, the player only gets credit for the amount of hit points they removed, not necessarily the amount of damage their nuke could have done. Since the odds of winning a roll for a reward is influenced by damage done... it matters. This is just something nukers are going to have to live with I suppose.

i really like it, mines only crashed once or twice on me so its not been too big of a deal. XXX |
|
|
No crashes here. been smooth for me all day. I am a little let down in this game. There isnt much that makes me want to go out and order it. The scenarios are fun, but thats about it. When starting out i felt like I was playing a FTP game. |
|
|
So far im liking it. Better than most mmo's i've played lately. Although i still like daoc alot better lol. I miss the days where leveling was getting in groups and grinding on mobs over just doing kill quests. But scenario's are still a great way to exp, and they're atleast decent pvp. Can't wait for open rvr though, then im done with scenario's lol.
And mine so far only crashes whenever i enter the tomb with awakening spirits in chaos starting zone.

I love this game. It has so much to do at any given time,. The only thing I am having trouble with is the fact that it doesn't count towards our permanant characters. I can't really truely get into a game until my progress matters, but despite that I play it till my eyes hurt since Friday. I can find fun each time I log in. I however cannot do what I planned, which was go to Tier 2 and get R 10 RR full set and really get a feel for each class. Saddly it has been changed so you only get RR gear about three pieces every few levels. It would take till around 16th rank to get a full suit now. This is a good thing overall since at release I sure as hell dont want to get to 10th, put on my extremely powerful and badass looking full suit of armor and have no drive to continue for awhile like might have happened. It will also be nice whent he auctioneer works. All in all it's a game I see as being fun most the time. ------------------------------ 'Cry Havoc, and Let Loose the Dogs of WARRRRR!!!' |

Poor game, you're going to get a lot of 'poor' reviews on your poll once more Europeans start waking up. I was supposed to be able to register 23 hours ago yet I'm still unable. That counts as worst MMO I've ever played or tried to play.
And I paid to get into beta. |

Very average, but pretty much what I expected. For those who are looking at the next evolution of The Formula, this may be a great game for you. As someone whose sick of The Formula, I'll have to pass on this one. That's just me, though. |
|
|
Could you please add a *Total failure* to your poll? Since - I just could not give ANY points to the service I was promissed to have 23 hours ago, but the only thing I'm getting up to now are error messages and appologies from totally surprised GOA staff? |

no, who picked, again, the brainless muppets of GOA to ruin the game in Europe? I think it was EA Mythic, even after what happened with DAOC, so they are guilty too... |

Originally posted by baron432 I`m going to tell you the same thing I was told when AoC came out from the europeans. Suck it up princess, it`s free beta. Haven`t you ever been part of a launch.
On another not I have been around for alot of launches, this is the best launch I have ever been in. Game is running great, I had a crash to desktop once and it`s because a GM kicked me to fix a bug (I think cause I reported it and 2 mins later boot). Anyway Game is very fun. Ya it`s the same feel as other games but it`s new. So far I`m loving it and I can say I`m glad theres finally some good PvP in the gaming world. Not counting older games that are dead now. You just wasted 5-10 seconds of your life reading this. |

It's a beta, but since it was sold to me as part of my preorder package, it's not free. It being beta means that it will have bugs, server crashes, etc. problems, I do understand that. But as it's also a service I already paid for, I have every right to except that GOA will be able to provide me some kind of access. So far it's no access and total failure to provide the service. Calling it a beta isn't any execuse for that. |

Originally posted by SgtFrog I beg to differ. We can't really enjoy the game unless we're provided the servers, account control, customer support, GMs, etc. by the game's publisher. Just try to disconnect yourself from internet and play the game then, you'll see what I mean. |

I voted average, fundamentally its an ok game but it bores me to tears. Glad people are enjoying it. But for me its the end of the road for MMOs for a long time to come, but there are many non-MMOs I'm looking forward to on the horizon. O_o o_O |

To all the people that would give it a bad review cuz they couldn't play, that is total bullshit.
"so open beta players. what do you think of war so far?"
That was the OP question. Hence the word players and if you didn't play it you cant answer the question correctly.
I understand it sucks that you didn't get to play, I feel for you guys, really. This game brings me back to old school memories, and I want others to have these experiences too. Seriously by far the best 7 hours of gaming Ive had in a long time.

So your going to tell me you paid extra to get your pre order, cause I didn`t if you did you got ripped off. Pre orders are the same price here my friend. Sounds like your issue is with the retailer. And on another note I pre ordered my copy, didn`t get a key no extras, it`s still pre order so release day I get one guareenteed, hence the point of pre sale. I only got in cause MMORPG RULEZ the interwebs of gamzors. You just wasted 5-10 seconds of your life reading this. |
