Just curious. Since the (hopefully soon to be released) Darkfall is similar to EVE in game mechanics and open sandbox play, are EVE players planning on shifting their competitive nature to Darkfall?

I can't see any hard core eve player going to darkfall, even if it is a sandbox the Eve people like there box set in space and dark is a fantasy box. It's like apples and oranges there both great but some like one more then the other.

hmm, a space sandbox MMO and a fantasy sandbox MMO....couldent be any more different.

All sandbox MMO players should just be happy.

instead of Sovereign space-states, now the chance to build nation-states. Even the Darkfall forums remind of the EvE forums.

I just hope they can pull it off

If it launches and is stable / reasonably complete / fun enough to give it a try I'll probably play both.

Exactly the same as EvE cannot impress me outside of the great sanbox, darkfall cannot involve EvE players.

Yeah yo I love Eve its like once you play it you really dont like any other mmo. Idk if thats the nerd in me or what but Eve will never be any other game. Sorry you can paste a fantasy game over eve but it will never have the history eve has. Or the same player base no matter how pretty you plaster a cover over it.

Well, here's one for you. EVE is amazing game but has those longish periods of boredom, also called 'times of peace', when there's no corporation that wants to 'socialize'. And I absolutely hate what little PvE EVE has to offer and exploring is just meh.

Also, I would prefer more in your face kind of PvP.

you make you own content in eve it's pure sandbox , dont wait for something to happen , make it happen dude .

if your bored in eve then game not for you , you have to give yourself a path in eve where you wanan go as a pilot it just does not come to you .

anyways this is the way i see eve after playing it so for long since 2004 actually .

Hehe, yes it does  .. problem is i cant  picture yet  EvE`s pvp specifics in a fantasy MMO, and wasnt really impresed by the vids about Darkfall's combat. But than again id give it a try when/if it launches and than its up to the game to keep me interested (tho i forsee Eve to remain mai main MMO for a long time).

except that eve is a game you can play, and darkfall has a url and a 17-minute-diablo-2-cut-thru-movie.

You're kidding me, right? EvE has 200K subs, Darkfall has 20 minutes of video in 6 years. You might have noticed that EvE is a sci-fi game as well. Are you also in the Ryzom and Second Life forums marketing your game since they are technically "sandboxes," also with nothing in common with Darkfall?

Can we not make random posts comparing Darkfall to every other game out there? The only similarity between DFO and Eve is the sandbox gameplay. Albeit this is a big part of each game, DFO does not have the same skill training system, single server play, combat, or even setting as Eve. I very much doubt that DFO will see an influx of players from Eve.

Maybe.  I signed up for the beta and will give Darkfall a try.  I dont see myself leaving EVE, but I can easily see myself cutting back from three accounts to one.

DFO seems to be a rlly nice game, I signed for the beta aswell but I would not stop playing EVE to play it.

I'll give DFO a try and if I like it I'll play it along with EVE, however Ive got used to the high detailed graphics of EVE tbh, Its hard for me to play other mmorps without the graphic level of the eve premium. I like fantasy games but theire all pretty much the same nowdays, I usually played EVE along with another mmo, usually a fantasy one, but got bored of all of em. DFO will ceirtainly be the "diferent one" kinda like EVE, the sandbox gameplay is awsome, after watching the gameplay movie got a bit disapointed with the graphics but I think I'll end up playing it just because its so player driven.

Even if darkfall has sandbox play like EVE, they're two entirely different genres.  EVE players may like darkfall, and vice versa, but it won't be the same going from one to the other.

I've followed darkfall since it was first announced, getting the mails now and then for it still, but it's not going to be a hit to EVE's numbers imo.
