reduce overall DPS to a fraction of what it was before? I started playing an archmage again, the class I had decided upon, and the DPS is even worse than it was before. Its taking me 5-6 hits to take down the first creatures. Just to make sure this wasn't an archmage problem, I looked around and noticed that other people weren't doing a whole lot better. Oh, and this naturally draws a lot of negative focus upon the GCD. ___________________ http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/12/13/ |

I think they adjusted it. My warrior priest crawls for kills compared to what he used to. However my melee DPS characters(Marauder, Witchunter) and casters (sorceress) dont seem to be changed at all. My guess was to make it so that healers werent the end all be all of RVR, as they used to be. |

Omg, they nerfed me! That's it, subs cancelled. Anyone would think this game was still in beta.. |
Originally posted by Spaceweed10 Me? No. Healer archetypes may have been hit hardest though, to the point that at least one is almost unplayable. Like I said, 5-6 hits to kill one lvl 1 monster with a long GCD is just unreasonable. I won't cancel my pre-order, I will just roll a DPS class instead to off-set this until or if this gets fixed. P.S: Release isn't exactly far away now. I think it is safe to say that what we observe here is probably going to be *really* close to what we see in the retail game. ___________________ http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2006/12/13/ |

I think they made the mobs stronger since they were so easy to kill before. I think they made some good balance tweaks so far as I seen.

My ArchMage was annoying the first few levels too but as soon as he got his DOT he was killing stuff just fine and when he got the second one things became very fast. |

Read the patch notes. they lowered EVERYONES damage and made all skills cost less AP. they turned it from a first person shooter back into the tactical mmorpg it was lastyear in alpha. now you can have a long drawnout battle and use AP abilities. if i wanted 20 sec fights i woulda stayed with wow. |

Explain to me how this change makes you use more tactics in a fight contrary to just using the same skills twice as long?

yeah, that's what i'm wondering. and 20 second fights for a single pve creature sounds a long time, maybe i haven't played wow in a while? and you know, as speed of the battle increases, so does the difficultly, especially if 'tactics' are involved. and christ knows standing there all day to kill a level one duck pretty much blows, making it faster helps out a lot. and if they don't want pvp to be too fast for players, just reduce damage done in pvp. |
