Is it any good?Apart from the combat system,which i dont know,what is the general idea around it?With which other game's pvp would u say is close? 

Pretty much you can toggle a button to put you into PvP mode so you fight anywhere. There is no player looting that I know of. There is also outposts that guilds fight over. If I remember right they give your build bonus's but I never got a chance to partake in it so I am unsure about the rest.

Faction vs Faction pvp,  World pvp zones, specific arenas throughout the world to pvp in.

Out post controlled pvp, guild vs guild, dueling and you can flag yourself to be pvp enabled at anytime.

When you die in pvp you get a XP debt that you need to pay back and gear durability lowers, durability can not be repaired gear will break overtime.

All in all it has good pvp, not ffa but still good.

There are three kinds of PvP that I have seen:

1) flagged -- you flag yourself as PvP and take your chances int he world

2) Outpost battle -- you battle for an outpost (OP's giove bonuses), and there are fights over control of these outposts

3) arena fights -- player organized contests

The Prime Roots are PVP areas where you can kill the opposing Faction. It's in Prime Roots that Supreme materials are found for making the best equipment.

Don't forget the unique type of Ryzomean PvP - Supernodes :)

At season change the precious materials ripen in the soil of Prime roots (underground world) and their quantities are always limited. Teams of foragers, healers and nukers go there and compete foor these resources. Al in all it's good PvP Fun while the foragers frantically dig-dig-dig :)

There are also certain GvG or Team vs Team PvP areas with lots of aggro - a nice place for player run PvP events that we laos do have aplenty :)

However the most Fun is Outpost PvP - large scale battles with generals - manoevres and counter-manouvres, melee rushes, support troops, riflemen and healers. It's a really special feeling when you have at least 100 people on each side at a battle like this where every little detail matters.

All in all Ryzom has a balanced set of Pvp for those who like it as well as for those who don't.

Just a small note: The high level Q250 diggable PR zones are neutral zones not PvP. I did check today.

Some players do use their PvP flag but that is their choice.

There are limited amounts of Supreme and Excellent mats in PR zones -- one person can dig a mat out quite easily.

Many of the mats are in dangerous areas and mob fights or other tactics may be necessary to dig the mats.

And if 2 or more diggers or dig teams want the same thing they may be competive over it but you do not have to PvP for it unless of course that's what you all want.

There is a zone of 4 PR areas called the Lands of Umbra that are PvP areas -- 2 areas are Q150 max diggable and 2 are Q200 max diggable if I am right which I'm pretty sure of. I've only been ganked there once and did get a rez, and the player that did it is the only player I've heard of doing/enjoying that. I was actually discourage of seeking revenge against diggers of the oppoisite faction.

I'm mainly a PvE player and love the way it is and hope they do not change it except maybe getting rid of PvP zones altogether.

I do however love a good Op battle. I look forward to when it gets active again and we have 3-5 OP battles a week.

Tuyet, in the Lands of Umbra are materials that go up to higher quality, the so called "supernodes" that spawn only once every ryzomean year (if i'm not mistaking), go up to Q250, and have a limited amount of materials per year.

(thing they fight over most is the supreme zun amber, no good magic amplifiers go without it, hehe)

Ok, I basically knew nothing of the supernodes. Have only heard players use the term. I did a search of the Ryzom forums for supernode and got no forum posts with supernode in the title. There were like 25 or so discussions that has supernode in them -- even found one where someone asked what is a supernode and there was no reply to his question.

I have checked the ryzom.raum maps and think I know the supernode locations now and some idea of how they work with the talk I read in some of the forum discussions.

Supernodes sound sort of neat but with all the time I've spent down there in that general area I've never seen them or supernode diggers or any PvP associated with it. From the posts those who know how supernodes work know when they are diggable and it only lasts a short time ( 3-12 mins ).

There are still the normal PR Supreme mats in the Lands of Umbra areas with normal supreme mat mechanics meaning maxQ150 and max Q200 diggable in the Lands of Umbra depending on the areas general level.

Some posts seemed to imply to me that all PR supreme digging is PvP. Which doesn't sound good to a lot of players that are looking for something challenging to do outside of the big power guilds that can controll the supernodes if they wish.

All the PR zones or areas depending on how you look at them have a location for each specific forageable mat ( 47 iirc ). There are 4 Q250max areas, 3 Q200max areas ( 2 are PvP areas; 1 is a neutral area), 2 Q150max areas ( both PvP areas). Other than when there is PvP over the supernodes, I've never heard of serious PvP over the normal supreme/excellent nodes.

Each mat site has a certain amount of supreme and excellent mats that can be dug there till they have been dug out. The counters only  get reset with server resets as best as I know.

Some dig sites are very safe to dig, others just completely nasty. I've been able to dig all the normal node sites with a small group, not always easy and sometimes downright nasty as it gets. Experienced and talented solo diggers can dig a lot of sites.

Supernodes sound sort of neat and the PvP with them could be intersting, hope to at least give it a try sooner or later.

everything but the oath in Forbidden Depths, there is possibly a time in a certain season its possible but i would like someone to show me :)

About supernodes; there have been some awesome fights down there, othertimes an uneasy peace as everyone manically digs. I remember a fight many moons ago that lasted several hours, trashed most of an amp in that one :)

You have to be very clued up to catch them and if there are a lot of diggers it can be mostly pointless. I find it much more enjoyable wandering around the rest of pr digging.

And more generally all pr digging is certainly not PvP, only lands of umbra, nexus, and possibly AoI (cant remember if this is or not right now). Lands of Umbra needs it to be honest, they basically removed 80% of the aggro mobs so you need some challenge! The higher level PR zones have also been toned down massively in difficulty over the years but still provide some challenge i suppose (note to devs reading: bring back the KITIN PATROLS!!!)

so off topic now, this was a PvP thread. *searches brain for intelligent thought* What they should do imo is bring back the temple event as a permenent fixture, you were teleported off to new maps to dig special resources. It was full PvP, and the highest rated mats were in the centre of the maps so you had a lot of action and need for fighters protecting the diggers. Would also give everyone access to the faction shops, and somewhere to have some fun PvP without having to wander the planet looking for it.

pvp takes a few forms -

1. Tagged PvP - turn on your tag, find an enemy, gank him, wait for him to cry on kami/kara chat and call reinforcements = win

2. Outpost wars - zerg A attacks zerg B, zergs usually faction related but dont have to be, muchas carnage with sorta tactics if you know what you looking for. looks very pretty and can be intense.

3. Lands of umbra/Nexus PvP - type 1 - find random digger and gank him, rinse repeat until backup comes down to sort you out, kill back up. Type 2 50% diggers 50% kitted up in pvp gear, hut the supernodes, fight the enemy who also want to dig them all while dodging the numerous vorax who want to play too.

The combat system (where everyone can master everything) generally means combat is balanced, winning in small scale pvp is far more about team make up and good tactics. Outposts are more about numbers with a splattering of tactics.

as for rewards = outposts of course provide valuable stuff like xp doubling catylisers and special materials to make good items. smaller scale pvp has no reward :( except if you fighting over the supernode where supreme craft materials can pop.

Just for completeness, there is a FFA Arena in Majestic Garden (often empty now but used in the past for some good event) and there is also dueling.

Hey guys, thanks for sharing all this info.

I've been dabbling with Ryzom a bit, but the initial documentation didn't detail the PVP very much, hence I didn't realize it was as rich as these videos show.

I was a bit lukewarm before, but now am getting far more interested and will be spending a bit more time in game soon.

i found it fair enough but lame. its just like any other pvp in all MMORPGs. sorry funbois

Then PvP is lame in any other MMORPG as well ? I really don't see the point of your post except being a flaming trollbait which should be drowned to death in melting marshmellows. 

I'm not a huge PvPer but I sure did enjoy the few OP battles I participated in.

Hey Sherk, you can ignore tikboi posts, go see his post history to see what I mean. He created the account, made hundreds of troll posts all over the place in less than a week, then quit posting. Probably still trolling somewhere under a different name now.
