Is the game only first person view, or can it be toggled between 1st and 3rd? Elder scrolls online: Voice your concerns here :http://www.zenimax.com/contact.php |

For your example...your Super Duper Sword of Ass-Kicking may require you to have a skill level of 95 (out of 100) to use it. But yea you asked one of those questions that have not been addressed specifically in one of the developer journals or Q&As with staff. I will post the question the staff thread to see if i missed something though. ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. Not to mention that if you are just starting out, your swordsmanship will be at such a low level that you wouldn't be hitting for very much or know any techniques with it.
The way UO had it was that items had some sort of basic strength requirement, but essentially any newbie could wield any weapon. They would miss a crap-ton if they had a katana of vanquishing and no swordsmanship/tactics skill to compliment the weapon, and their hits would be weak, and they would die and get it looted, but they could still weild it. I would assume that the Darkfall system will be at the very least reminiscent of the UO system. |

The thread is for people who may have just been turned on to the game from the video or maybe havent checked in on it in awhile. There is a lot of info on the main forum, but some people here may not use it, so we are trying to help them out with any questions. I ask that you try and keep this thread to just questions and answers. If you think it is stupid then leave us to our stupidity. Ok here is the answer i got from one of the community service staff on the main forums. "There may be some restrictions to prevent access of certain items to all players be it a skill, attribute or some other restriction. There is no information available on it I just wanted to make sure you were aware that there aren't "levels", but some things may still be required for gear." ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. It's a shame, this decent thread is starting to spiral down a dark path. Can't this one little thread be left well enough alone to it's purpose? I see little reason not to let it live in harmony, after all it is much more constructive than Darkfall threads generally are. Just something for everyone to consider. |

good thread but i would just like to add that this Q&A thread http://forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php?t=57229 has a ton of info. also another reward that i havent seen mentioned yet for killin off a guild or group is to control that land which has resources that you can mine for crafting and such.Ive read that if your guild controls that land and someone else mines it your guild will get a message with that persons name. |

How about mount? Can you get a mount from the word go? Is there different speeds depending which mount you use? Do they also have different abilities, like a horse can carry your load? Or even mount that can swim? Thx RIP Orc Choppa |

I'm not sure their engine is set up for flying mounts but possibly hovering. I read that they have no plans on creating separate servers with different rule sets so don't get your hopes up too much. But you can always get into a good guild (possibly a crafting guild) for protection. Plus, if you get a reputation as a fair and honest crafter, people will take care of you. I do understand though, UO was a rough place, I got dropped a few times myself hehe. "Censorship is never over for those who have experienced it. Aye no flying mounts as far as I know. And 1 rule set...thats it. This game was designed with a specific goal in mind. It was designed to give the best unique experience it could to a certain part of the genre. Like it or dont like it. I think overall it's a good thing to only have one rule set. Once you start having different rule sets it takes programmers more time to set things up and I'd rather they focus on what they already have in place. I'm not real sure how a PvE Darkfall server would do anyway, the entire game is designed around PvP so... The PvE that's already in place looks enticing anyway. Yep great thread that recently got moved to the newcommer's forum. Here it is in link for for the truly lazy with us =) forums.darkfallonline.com/showthread.php The community staff there is really great. I even sent a PM to Brannoc today and was not expecting a response for awhile if at all with the stuff he must have to sift through. To my surprise I got a message back within 2 hours that answered my question perfectly. They are very limited with their manpower. It is more than enough to produce a dynamic game, but they have never had the manpower or time to hype this game up during development. And you know what, who cares really. The game will speak for itself, and those who demand info or give up on the game will obviously give in and play it if they here that it is fun to play. My point is that if any new players want to find out more info, the main site is a great place to do it. Just be sure to make your posts in the correct section and use the search function if posting in the advanced section. The forumfallers can be rough but I assure you there are very few communities that are more supportive of a game. ~~ Darkfall Recap of everything that has happened the last 3 months: http://www.mmorpg.com/discussion2.cfm/thread/213296 "The monsters are tough. Question from me too. Will there be any encumbrance system? Like a limit of how much stuff a character can carry? |
