EA / Mythic today released a new Career Profile for WAR. The Chaos Chosen is a powerful mage / tank class. Check out the screens and write up.

A Chosen Champion of Tzeentch is a sight to behold - warped by the blessings of the dark gods, these hulking behemoths have the power and size to match even the mightiest of mortal creatures. Their thick Chaos armor can ward off the most punishing of blows, while the fell weapons they wield can cleave the heaviest of defenses. However, these "blessings" come at a price - the Chosen is beholden to Tzeentch, and must constantly strive to earn his favor. For the Chosen of Tzeentch this means more than mere slaughter and death. In order to earn the grace of the Changer of Ways, the Chosen must apply guile and trickery as much as brute force. Only through careful planning and deliberate carnage can a Chosen of Tzeentch truly find the favor of their god.

The Chosen of Tzeentch Specialty

Tzeentch expects his Champions to be both ferocious warriors and cunning tacticians. As a result, Chosen who excel in these areas are granted profane rewards. These Dark Giftsallow the Chosen to manipulate the ruinous power of Chaos itself. While this provides them with ever greater strength, it also continually strips away any remnants of humanity that may still reside in the dark recesses of their memories. These Dark Gifts supplement the warrior's awesome martial skills, increasing their durability, strength and even allowing them to harness the Winds of Magic.

Read it all right here.

Hmm are these guys leaning toward a Shadowknight or Dark Paladin type of gameplay? What do you Loremasters say in regards to Chosen?

Because they're Warriors in the name of Tzeentch, they can wield magic, and that's said in their description as well. That magic is rather destructive magic and violent. Chosen or other Chaos Warriors care only for themselves, seeking to become Daemons in the name of their Gods. Zealots are seers, they kind of help their tribes, and are less focused on becoming the greatest of the greatest themselves, unlike the Chosen (who are literaly Chosen as Champions...) or Magus (Which can be considered as Chosen as well.. or Champions, but tend to specialise on magic, unlike Chosen who tend to favour melee more).

Thus, because I know a fair bit of lore around Tzeentch, I'd say Chosen wield magic, albeit a few spells and are focused on destruction, instead of restoration, because of their individual nature. If I'm correct, that'd be more along lines of Shadowknights in playstyle.

You could consider them like Dark Paladins of an Evil God of Change and Transformation... but if you wanna get an idean of what kind of guy a Champion of Chaos is... remember that they are barbarians from northern wastelands who got "infected" or "touched by Tzeetch" and live a life or raiding and pillaging.

Gorthuk speaks the truth. Also, in the Tabletop, Champions of Tzeentch are like melee chaos wackos... and magicians. You can skip getting "true" mages in your army if it's Tzeentch oriented, which is great. But in the game, they left the "true" magician as a playable class anyway, so I guess they'll just be Tanks with Tzeentchian Fireballs or something. Sounds cool anyway!

Decided to bring up an old thread instead of making a new one, but i had to ask a question.  How much of a difference are the "auras" or debuffing spells going to make on the open battle field in RvR?   I have  beta but only for one day during preview weekend and played a Maurader but am going to be in the open beta and will try then.   Just how wondering if they have a big effect on the battles.  An help from the elder testers would be greatly appreciated.

             Thanks.
