Stygian Abyss.

It was originally supposed to come out this past summer, but was pushed back. Anyone know any info on its current state, or when EA plans to release it?

Also, do you look forward to it ,or not, and why?

EA doesn't tell its loyal customers anything. And it will be a cold day in hell before they give us a date.

That game was sweeet... wasn't it one of the first 3d RPGs?

Yes it was. I am looking forward to playing the gargoyle race, and exploring a vauguely touched on part of Ultima Lore.

Sadly, I believe you are mostly right. They probably won't release any info or a release date, till right before release.

I can't wait until Stygian Abyss is released.  There's been rumor that the destruction of Magician is a precursor to SA.  Although I'm not sure, I think I remember reading somewhere that the entrance to the void should be somewhere on Fire Island if they stick with the UO lore.  I also read of some changes supposedly happening in January, but I doubt that with the loss of some devs and the rest moving to Virginia.  I hope they take their time on this expansion and use it as a way to put some life back into the game.  I liked the ML expansion, but it seemed it was only a temporary boost to the game.

I am glad they are delaying the release.  I am really looking forward to it, but I have respect for EA for not rushing it out to publish just to meet deadline.  I did read a post from some guild on stratics who talked about the expansion.  EA allowed the guild to visit their building for a tour, and they seemed to be pretty impressed with what they saw.

Radiohead took four and a half years to release a well made record.  So I can wait for SA.

True, some of the posters have interesting ideas.

As all the developers were moved and Stygian Abyss delayed, its future is uncertain at the moment.

After the KR fiascoo I guess MythicEA will evaluate the game again and decide to put out the expansion or just put it into auto run mode.

Hmm, wonder if that means they are considering releasing stygian on 2d also. That would be awesome, as I prefer 2d over KR, and was only going to make the switch because SA was announced as only coming to KR. I have high hopes this decision will be taken back, and they will release SA on 2d as well.

Latest hints we got:

It is still delayed until further notice.

One developer or was it Jeremy hinted that they may be able to say anything about Stygian Abyss soon. That was a week or so ago (maybe a month, EA soons are pretty common for all they say)

My guess is that it is canceled.

I am sad to say this, but i think you may be correct obii. I hope they prove us wrong, but we all know EA's track record since Garriott and the gang left. I guess all there is to do now is cross fingers and hope EA doesn't screw us again.

edit-sorry for double posting, but I am sad for my beloved Ultima.

It would be really cool to see a new gargoyle race.

Plus it would be good because then everyone could start over and we could help each other out a bit.  I don't know.  It's been awhile since I played UO last (Last summer when KR released).  Maybe a new expansion can light the fire again.  But this is EA we are talking about.  All of their efforts right now are on Warhammer.

- SA will be for both clients (no details yet)

- KR is being improved including new map, more vibrant, better map overall.

- New client being based off of the KR technology (the SA client)
 

- Bringing back in old players: Yes, they are looking at marketing for this purpose

- Meeting coming up regarding live events and the expansion

- Size big enough that they are talking about new hardware to support

- There will be areas in SA reds can go (applause). More detail in the future... PvP content mentioned
