the first time i used voice chat was in lotro, i didnt have my mic on. so i was typing to the female toon about joining their party. the female party leader kept telling me to turn on the mic so i could hear her explain the plan. i turned the mic on and it was a dude with a nerdy voice. it freaked me out. lol, i do not like playing with mics, it ruins the realness if the guy is playing a female toon, over voice chat. it's like having a transvestite in your party. |

What about in this game, where gender isn't always an option? Any guy that wants to play a Witch Elf character due to its specific ability and tool set is gay? I-s-s-u-e-s. |

Did you ever think that maybe guys like to play a female character because the male characters look terrible? I plan to play a sorceress as well, I love the class, but hate the way the male sorcerer looks. I have done this in many other games as well because for some reason females in mmo's are always far better looking. So dont base your judgment on a few kids who begged you for gold, and I don't know where u get that men who play female chars are gay. |

Most guys roll female toons in MMOs because if you are going to stare at a person's behind for all your playtime, might as well have it be a pretty sight
Edit: Oops, someone else posted this too |

I'm in the same boat. Sorcerer is one of the classes I'm looking at for launch and I can't stand the way the male dark elf concept art looks. Something about massive, ornate headdresses just doesn't jive well with males. There is an option to hide your helmet but long, flowing hair isn't much better. |

The only thing I see pathetic here is someone who gets worked up over pixels in a freaking video game, as if they are in any way representative of something as complex and still poorly understood as human behavior and gender identities. |

In the end it's only an issue if one thinks it's an issue. What I find funny is that this is being thought of of as an issue by healthy people. As long as the person who is playing it is sure about what he or she is about there is no issue. It's not any more perverted to look at a toon of a different sex any more than it is looking at the same sex. I highly question any person who thinks it is. where the heck did they crawl out of? What backwoods lovcrafting horror of a small ingnorant town do they live in?!?!?

Just reading the first post, I can say you don't have to worry. Sorceresses can be male, because Malekith needs more PEW PEW to killz teh shiny elfz. And women-only just don't cut it, so he let men become sorcerers too. But yeah, I understand your concern. I never play female characters either because if I need to look at a girl's ass, that's what my girlfriend is for. |

I do not understand why any person would feel a need for acceptance of his peers to play a character of his choosing, in a game he payed for and continues to "rent". You don't know these people, they have no right to question your choices so why should you care, love how you like. More fool them for trying to flirt with someone who only exists in a hard drive zipping about as electrons to and fro between your computer and theirs. Desperately they try to evade their quasi-guilt and self made shame over something that never existed in the first place. People should be more forward, if they want to flirt online they should ask up front and save the trouble. Perhaps if all else fails maybe they can introduce a seedy nightclub and sleezy hotel for all those people who really do want to get it going online on a safesex pseudo date.

Some guys don't want other guys to play female Avatars cause it ruins their illusion or ingame fantasy if you will. They ogle some hot chick ingame just to find out its a guy, it makes them uncomfortable and they put the blame for that on the guy playing the female toon instead of themself for investing any of their interest in a polygonal model of indeterminable actual sex in the first place, lol. Personally, I play a few female alts from time to time and you know what? I sometimes prefer it. For anyone who thinks thats gay think about this, who's gayer? The guy who would rather be stuck staring at a chicks butt for hours on end or one that would rather be stuck staring at some dudes?

there is a male version of that class in the game you wouldn't have to play THAT class as a female. i'm the same i refuse to play female characters due to the same reason as you, damn emo's lookin for internet love and thinking every female character is a "hot chick". first mmo i played was PSO back in the day for dreamcast, where there was an actual difference between the male and female classes. the female hunter had the most rounded balanced stats so i made one got tells all the time for b.js and happy jacks, was like wtf is wrong with you fuckin losers?just disgusted me to the point i quit playing her and didn't like the male hunter as much he wasn't as good with magic as she was so eventually quit altogether. so leason learned and never rolled a female character again. like i said there is a male version of THAT class but tehre is some classes that are male or female only like the witch something forget the name was female delf only looked like it might be a rogue type class idk didn't try it or really even look at what it was. |

Well made my mind up, I m gonna roll that sorceress! Very valid points that it is just a graphical representation etc. One thing I would like to pick up on is the tomb raider comparison. While I agree, I have to say that there is one feature that warhammer has that TR does not. That is internet communication and the fact that people are able to communicate with you and elicit all their emo sexual fantasies on the unfortunate player. I have never gotten a whisper when negotiating cliff faces in TR! |
