I downloaded Ryzom, but it wouldn't let me create and account. When I click that "create account" button, nothing happens.

I get no message or information about how to create an account, why I can't create an account, or if I can create an account in the future.

There is an option to "upgrade your account" but of course you can't upgrade, unless you have an account first.

Maybe it's a cool game. Maybe it's not. Either way, I won't be back.

Ryzom just recently bounced back into activity. At the moment I believe they are only allowing old accounts to play, but I'm pretty sure they will be allowing new account creations soon.

I guess that doesn't matter, though - taking into consideration that you won't be back.

I ran into this problem also. I finally went to the website and was able to create an account there. Keep in mind though I had to wait a few days because they werent accepting new players. They finally added more accounts to play so thats when I created my account...

Check the website, don't use the game button.

On the official Ryzom website, on the left theres the option to download client. From here your also given a link to create an account.

Dunno how long this has been like this but it worked for me earlier today. Hope I helped

If you won't go to the trouble to even register on the site then you deffinetly won't want to play this game anyway.

It's challenging and not the run of the mill romper room mmo you would be used to.

I am quite happy the system of ryzom kept you from playing.

Anyway next time try reading... people have stated over and over that new accounts are on a first come, first serve basis.

You sure do love that game. You sound like one defending your Jihad when you talk about Ryzom.

It may be an awesome game, but the client still sucks and makes the game less attractive for a lot of people. If you represent the community, then that would be another barrier. People don't like elitists who are happy and glad at the misfortune of other's. They don't like to game with people who judge others so harshly based on a few comments of their own experiences with a game.

Basically, have fun playing a dying MMO and scaring off the few people willing to try it. :)

Actually he's kinda right though. If the person is finding it that hard to sign up for a free account and can't be bothered to read the forums to find out how hes not going to enjoy the game. The game is all about what you make it not what the game makes you. Its a free thinking game in a way.

Its a really good "sandbox" game and really deserves a clean start.

My problem with the OP is he's being a prick about the whole thing.

He's acting like a big child, players are trying to tell the guy he needs to sign up on the site.

Personally I don't want someone like that playing the same gaming genre let alone the same MMO.

I may have come off as harsh but he's totally trolling people with this "it didn't sign me up now i wont listen to anything cause this game didn't make it easy for me".

Hes seen how many people are enjoying this mmo atm and posts this crap.

And yes I am enjoying this game, even with its problems the game is quite fun and I would hate to see nimrods start to sway players away from this wonderful game with posts like his.

But why? All you have to do is to, in a worse case scenario, contact the company and inquire as to why you are having problems.

It's just not that hard.

You are making a mountain out of a molehill. Not everything (and in my opinion "most things) are about drama.

Definitely don't need people like the OP in this game. Next thing you know, the OP will be spamming uni chat asking what the hell to do in this game or complaining that there is "nothing to do."

Most people don't use forums and move on. It's stastically the way most people work. Patching the client to pop up a message when you click "new account" would be the wise business move.

Secondly, the graphics aren't that great, the player models look like dumpy Ken's Labyrith style models and people are reporting they can't get the game to load in anything but LOW Texture due to some networking stack issues. I had this problem on 2 machines over the last 2 years and no other game has this issue.

I think in order for a game that seems Homebrewed (You feel like you are playing Shareware) to be successful due to it's AWESOMESAUCE game mechanics and sandbox, the community needs to be kick ass. Which so far the few interactions with the Ryzom community on MMORPG have been the same as with the WOW community in Barrens Chat.

Ryzom is currently free due to the new Devs working out these so called "issues".

Placing the ryzom community and WoW community in the same sentence is crazy.

The WoW community consists of MMO high schoolers that are full of trolls and anti-social players.

Ryzom actually has a helpful community, a mature community nothing like WoW so stop trying to troll people.

Just look at the OPs first two posts he's clearly trying to get a rise out of us by refusing any help and being a prick about it.

You are not missing much anyway. Their servers are having a hard time dealing with all the people wanting to check it out and their client is unable to handle connection issues gracefully. I have a very solid cable connection, and was disconnected 3 times the other night. I was forced to quit and log back in each time after the server finally realized I wasn't logged in anymore.

Parts of the UI are very nice for such an old game, but lacking cohesiveness (shades of Eve's disjointed UI). I played single player rpg's back in the 80's with better equipment screens though. After a horrible character creation (it's pretty much the same character creation as it was in beta with less options heh). I saw a bunch of clones of me right away.  I was dumped into the world with a minimal backstory and immediately sent on a kill 10 rats quest. I really had no motivation to go kill the rats except there wasn't anything else to do. I did run around for a while just exploring, and there really isn't much to see...a few creatures, some resources. Very bland. Weird dinosaurish noises off in the distance, and I kinda wanted to find out what they were. I never will though.

The game is reminds me a lot of Anarchy Online or Tabula Rasa, just not as good. It's way better than any of the f2p mmo's though.

Unfortunately, accounts are limited at the moment, so the normal account creation is disabled.

Ryzom is not known to be an easy, hand-holding, kind of game. On the starter island, there are some quests that are basically a tutorial. Once on the mainland, you have little or no direction from the game. You can do anything you want, it's a sandbox game.

I would recommend waiting a little while, until new accounts are open again, and give it another shot. Once you play a bit, you will have information to make a decision with; not everybody likes the game, of course.

Actually my Problem with ryzom is its hand holding during the newbie island alot of people are playing for an hour or two, get bored of the stupid quests and say the game feels like AO.

I wish Ryzom just dropped players in mainland so they could see the real game.

If i had to rate the newbie island experience I would give it a 5 out of 10 once on mainland this game gets a 10.

I hope the new devs fix the main island.

After creating an account you get a message telling you how many are still left. There were more than 9900 a few minutes ago, so I think have have added 10000 recently.

If you use the web site, the process itself is quite easy. With the exception of your E-Mail you don't have to enter any personal information. Although they will ask for it if you try to deactivate the newsletter in your profile

Since they have started giving out free accounts I have told lots of my friends to give ryzom a go. None of them had any problems creating accounts or getting the client to work. They simply followed the basic instructions on the website. Click here to create your account. Click here to download the client. Very easy.

It doesn't quite make sense to me, the first thing I would do whilst downloading the client would be to hit the website to look for account creation. Maybe thats just me.

In all my years of playing ryzom I have never had a problem running the client and I have had it running on some really low spec machines! These days the average computer is likely to run this on max settings easily enough.

I quite like the graphics in this game, they feel so much more 'real' than other MMO's. The enviroments have life that other games dont seem capture. But thats just my personal opinion.

Well Said Metalhead you took the words right out of my mouth. He should go back to WoW or Guild Wars or AoC or whatever childish game he is playing . I got my account today no problem whatsoever. I'm gonna be playing all night tonight and tommorrow...It's nice to actually feel like an utter and complete noob again. All the other games are the same old shit.

I am sure there will be technical difficulties give what the game has been through. I am not surprised you experienced this TBH.

But, it is a good game. I hope you have fun playing something else.

 Whats' funny is the game is downloaded from the same page you make an account on, but the OP somehow completely missed it. Oh, well. his loss.
