i just finished watching the full streaming vid and the game looks terrible.

The gameplay looks just plain bad. It looks like some kind of unorganized free-for-all world war 2 online only in a fantasy setting.

compare this to a 4 year old Lineage 2 and Darkfall doesn't even approach..

The graphics look on par with games from 2002. Literally.

The animations are beyond bad which just contribute even more to the bad gameplay.

After watching this whole thing I sat there wondering what exactly it was I just saw..  Because I sure as hell wasn't looking at the game that was promised all these years.

This game if it does release is going to fail miserably. It looks like a poor attempt at creating a MMORPG by a bunch of amateurs.

What the hell kind of gameplay is that?  It's a bunch of outdated looking models with bad animations running around in some kind of ridiculous orgy of combat.

It literally looks like they had absolutely no game design document to go by and just threw in some kind of butchered FPS "combat" system. It looks terrible.

Now I am not surprised they coud not get a publisher for this beyond some DVD company in Greece who would never be able to pick up a REAL mmorpg to test the waters with.

This is the kind of game you find in the K-mart $9.95 software bin.

LOL. Again it looks the only thing you see is the graphics, and look that never have seen any good MMO. I'm so happy that graphics look "so ugly" , and ppls that do not know what MMO mean will not be meet there!

Edit: If replay again, just pls give some feedback what you terrible you see about gameplay.

But to come out with a "new" game in 2009 that has graphics that belong on a game in 2002 is just not acceptable. maybe to you it is.. but they're not going to survive long on your one subscription.

watch the non streaming version, the difference is night and day unless there is a really good hd streaming version out now.  and there very well could be.

graphics are fine.  beyond fine actually....have you seen some of the landscape? absolutely breathetaking in some areas.

you are aware that graphics are personal taste right?  some people think DF graphics are "better" than WAR and WoW graphics because they are a different art style....which is fine. 

This game doesnt have next gen graphics, but it certainly isnt so behind the times where it is unplayable.

the fans called it...cant bash the vaporware anymore...on to the graphics....

not very smart are you?  tell that to the thousands of people who have signed up for beta already.  thats a fact.

and it is plenty acceptable.  it was acceptable to a developer, its acceptable to thousands....you are just jealous that the fans are getting a great game they enjoy.  if you dont like it, dont play it...its that simple

Oh and before you come in with your VaporWare Troll Bashstick, no, I do not believe it is Vaporware. But just as it is currently rather ridiculous to bash DF as Vaporware, it is just as ridiculous to say the game will definately be great. Let's just hope it will be, shall we?

I downloaded the video and while I didn't think the streaming was bad, the full on disk version was actually quite exciting and most enjoyable to watch. I am looking forward to seeing what Darkfall 'ends up with' and haven't written it off yet.

The game play as I understand it, is basically hard-core PvP. Use skills to level and kill other players. True sandbox, making a character according to how you play them. I am not sure I can play 'full' hard core with the idea of losing all items (my game time is limited) but would (scratch that, WILL not would) be happy to give it a go around/trial run.

Ok. Who have said that its high budged game? I think its clear its low budget, and I'm shure there will be many problems after release, but for me just one thing will be enought to live even with tons of bugs and problems: great sandbox system. Just I see Darkfall oposite to WoW: low budget, raw graphics, great gameplay. I think that there never will be high budget sandbox MMO, just becasue such gameplay is not for the masses. Maybe the only exception is EvE,  but that can be becasue its Sci-Fi space based so sandbox is just the best posibility here. So Darkfall is great just becasue there is no other such sandbox on the horizont, excpet Mortal online, that can be the next hope, but its to early to think about it. Up to now its Darkfall. Also Ryzom is possible alternative if you are up for Sci-Fi/Fantasy mix world that many peoples do not like.

Apparently the game is fps with real time hit detection, not sticky targeting number crunching, your aim is supposed to make a difference. For this reason the graphics will appear sub par. This is what the fans appear to be waiting for. This single difference set it apart from all other mmo's out now.

Also they are saying it will be 1 server, no loading or zones. Which also seperates it from all but 1 of the mmo's.

Looks fine to me and I loove graphics. Its all about playability and this looks like fun

I downloaded the full on disk version of the demo, and maybe its just me, but I'm not seeing "bad graphics".  They looked quite good to me overall, and just to check I had my son and his friend (pair of Xbox/WOW playing 16 yr olds) double check it and they thought the graphics were comparable to most games short of AOC.

Of course, we've got good computers here and perhaps the OP's isn't up to snuff to properly display the demo.

Sure, there were problems in some areas, like a bit of floating across the landscape, especially when running down hill, but overall I thought the DFO world looked quite interesting.

But we all agreed here this "mass PVP combat" was what looked very entertaining.  We noticed that some fights early on seemed to be a single party fighting what probably was npc mobs and later on we saw single parties fighting boss fights.

Of course, there was a lot of mass combat, but hey, that's what I like the best about in a game, big open world fights.  What are you looking for OP?  Instanced battleground fights of 10 v 10? 

Guess its just a matter of preference, but we'll be giving it a try when it comes out. (assuming it ever does)

I kind of agree with the OP actually. I fully support what Darkfall are trying to do but I'm afraid the game does look absolutely awful. Graphics and animations DO matter......well at least they do for me. I have a PC that is capable of running top quality games so I dont want to be playing something that looks like it is 10 years old.......and yes Darkfall does look that bad.

However I think if Darkfall does release it may start a trend of new online rpgs. It will give other better games companies with more talent something to inspire them. I dont think Darkfall will be a good game......in fact I think it will be a total mess.......but at least it could be the first in a line of new games. Hopefully we will be seeing the beginning of the slow demise of boring themepark games. Fingers crossed.

The more I look at these video's the more I agree with the OP. The animations aren't any good and the UI looks like suck. The water doesn't look real either. Some objects like cannons dissapear too etc.

I'd love for it to work out but I don't see how this can all be fixed in a few months time really.

This game does indeed look horrible. If the gameplay is any good fine but the graphics are worse than world of warcrafts and I even hate that game.

I just heard, they will be giving free copies of Windows 3.1 with it... At least until stock is depleted... Must have been since Razorwax :p

Some part of the video had pretty good graphics. You can clearly see what's on High, medium and low settings.

Overall the graphic is good, and it can be better. Since 2004 they say graphics came second, they just optimize it but will put more effort in it after every thing else is done. But if this is valid info at this point I have no idea.
